A Rude Surprise (Stealth vs +Perception)
Solarverse replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
Interesting. Makes me wonder how accurate that information is though, since my Stalker was able to hang out with them unnoticed for quite some time, as was my Illusions Controller with Superior Invisibility. Everything below that level of stealth was attacked almost instantly. If it suppressed stealth, then it should have not mattered what type of stealth I had active, I would think. -
So I was casually running along, minding my own business when suddenly, my Troller who has Invis + Stealth IO ran across some mean ol' Cabal members in Croa. Next thing I knew, they decided that my Invis + Stealth IO was not enough to hide from the wicked grasp of their +perception. It surprised me to say the least. So after asking google and getting no help from that, I asked around in Help channel if Cabal had +perception and to my surprise I was told no by several people. I could have just chalked it up to a bug and went along with my day...but me being the stubborn bastard that I am, I refused and set off for a quest for a real answer. So I started with Stealth under controlled conditions, using level 28 as my standard level and finding even conned minions. They see right through it and proceeded to do what Cabal to best...lighting me up. Next I tried Stealth + Stealth IO. Same result. Invis, same result. invis + Stealth IO, same result. Superior Invis....ahhhh....we finally found a level of Stealth that Cabal cannot see through...even when standing right up against them. So obviously anything Superior Invis and up can conceal themselves from Cabal. Anything with 200 Stealth or better. So, is there a chart someplace where I can find information like this with all enemies who carry stealth and what is needed to beat their stealth? I don't seem to recall any such charts, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist. I think if such a chart exists, it would sure be helpful to have this chart in a sticky somewhere on these forums.

Give Null the Gull option for minimal FX for Ice Shields
Solarverse replied to Solarverse's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I used to educate players (because it wasn't always a thing to give them the minimal FX option) and I got nothing but "Don't tell me what to do! I don't care!" even though all I was doing was letting them know it was an option in the nicest way I could express. Sometimes, saying anything at all to players about this sort of thing can be taken the wrong way, so I just stopped saying anything at all. I think it would just be better all round to give us as players the option to have the minimal FX option added to Null the Gull. There honestly isn't that many FX in game that bothers me when people cast something on me. Ice is pretty much the only one...and then only if it's the Blocky Cube FX. -
You gonna be okay there, little guy? Edit: I'm going to go on ahead and elaborate. What I am seeing is that people are wanting Sents to be more like Blasters. Asking for Blaster range, asking for Blaster AoE type damage... The way I see it, if you want Blaster range and Blaster DPS, then role a Blaster. The resists and Defense a Sent can get with Invuln is just straight up OP for a ranged DPS class. I can't speak for the other secondaries, but if they are anything like what I can get with Invuln, it's just straight up OP. Asking for more range or more DPS without trading in some of that ridiculous resist/defense is just asking to do to Blasters what has already been done to Tanks by Brutes. It would only drive Blasters to the bottom of the barrel, and with Corruptors already on the nipping at the heals of Blasters, that is just something we don't need. Sents are often the last man standing on team wipes and they boast this all over the game. There is a reason for that. Yes, I said it loud and clear and I stand by it...Sents are already on the verge of being OP. They are not OP yet, but they are approaching dangerously close. You can laugh and giggle and pretend it's not an issue, but I never needed your approval to see the math plain as day. Do Sents need a new and improved Inherent? Yes, I agree with this. But to pretend they need more damage and more range? Hell no, I will not agree with that. That would send them straight over the edge of making them OP and Blasters would be played only out of nostalgia rather than picked up for what they bring to the team.

Give Null the Gull option for minimal FX for Ice Shields
Solarverse replied to Solarverse's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah, the minimal effects on the shields is perfect, IMO. To me, they look a hell of a lot better too. I don't see the appeal in the big blocky human ice cube look. -
I'm sure some may agree, it is completely annoying when players choose the big bulky option for their Ice Shields and cast it on your character, sufficiently turning you in to the Ice Golem's third cousin. I would love to have an option with Null the Gull to make those bulky shields the Minimal FX option, since a lot of players won't use it on their end.

This right here. Sentinels don't need any other buff other than the inherent. Sentinels are on the verge of being OP as they are, but that inherent needs to be something that better fits the class.
-
Not to mention, no matter what kind of suggestion players make, nobody can ever seem to agree on anything. Player feedback can be outright toxic at times, with players on these very forums at each other's throats over a mere suggestion or change. You might have a player with a great idea for improvement or change, and half the players will love it, the other half will hate it, and then the thread turns in to a flame fest. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a Developer looking to make changes based on feedback from the forum posters. Some poster don't want change at all and any suggestion made is swarmed upon with negative feedback and flames. Other times nobody can agree to anything at all and once again it becomes a flame war. If I were a Developer, reading all these pages upon pages of flame wars, i would be scared to death to make any changes out of fear that half my population of players would come at me with pitch forks and torches, lol. No change is easy, just based off fan feedback alone, much less the coding headaches that would be involved.

Yeah, my suggestion was either for all or none. I don't think I would particularly care for some get it global, some don't. Besides, the greater majority of badges are just fluff...and doesn't mean as much to the common player as it does to a player who takes a greater pride in his character. People who tend to not be altoholics have a hell of a lot more badges on one character than players like myself who have dozens and dozens of alts who have several badges spread out between multiple characters. The idea would have benefited players who have Altoholism more than people who tend to stick with one character. So it was either an all or nothing kind of request.

I would have Scrapperlock if they would just give Scrappers EM.

Remember when the Live Devs had an emergency patch shortly after raising the ignore list cap? You can thank me for that. On the same day they raised the ignore list cap, I capped it by ignoring all the players begging for power levels in PI. Once I had reached the cap, if I ignored another player after the cap, it crashed the whole map, not just for me, but everyone...every player who was on that map. I reported it to Matt Miller and he had me duplicate the bug in game. I gave a warning to players in PI not to get in to anything because I was there with Matt Miller replicating a bug that crashes the map...and asked that players give me a moment before getting involved with anything. Matt Miller shows up, asks me to produce the bug, I ignored a random player and sure enough, the map crashed everyone to desk top. When I logged back in, Matt Miller said in ALL CAPS! "PLEASE DO NOT SHOW THIS TO ANYONE!!! We will have a fix for this soon! In the meantime, I don't think I need to remind you that if you share this information with other players, you can be permanently banned from the game." I sent back a tell saying, "I'm gonna tell the whole server! Hahaha. Not a problem, man. Just glad I was able to help." He gave me a "Haha" and thanked me. He then went on to inform me that he was granting me the Bug Finder badge for this find. I'm pretty sure I will never get my hands on that badge ever again. 😞 P.S. A player reported me for hacking, a goofball GM banned me due to him having zero knowledge of what Matt and I were doing, and it took Matt 2 days to get me back in game again. I payed the price for finding that bug, lol.

Yeah, that makes sense. I honestly couldn't remember why it was changed. I knew they added fear, but never thought about them having to change it to front loaded damage to compensate for teh fear mechanic added to it. Not that it matters much, but I kind of miss seeing all those numbers fly. I kind of wish they would drop the fear and reverse it back to the DoT it once was. However, that's a needless change, but I would still love to see those numbers fly again.

God deal, thanks for the info, Darkir. Much appreciated.

Right now I have an Sudden Acceleration in Repel. It works wonders, but it can take several attempts before it actually knocks anything down. Is there a better option to use? Does the IO from the SBB work better and have a higher chance to Proc? Are there any other options that work better?

Make Transfusion and Transference affect allies around you
Solarverse replied to Thezanman's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Kin heals are one of the best burst heals in game, and it was designed to be support for the Tank and Melee, not the people at ranged. The reason why the heal hits for such high numbers and can almost bring people back to full health from the brink of death is because it is ranged and target based. If it was AoE, it would be no different from the Dark Heal, which also hits for high numbers. However, the Dark Heal aslo requires a target to pull from, which is why it also hits for high numbers. One is a targeted ranged Heal, the other is a targeted PBAoE heal. I feel like if a player wants to heal PBAoE, they already have that option with the Dark set. I personally see no reason to change Kinetics at all. P.S. If you are having issues getting a self heal or endurance buff from your own powers because of a particular shield you can get, try slotting a KB to KD IO in it and that problem goes away. Worked wonders for me. -
So you think because I inquired about some badges that has nothing to do with progression of the game, to be spoiled? I don't play any of those types of games. I sure as hell don't play freemium games. I left SWTOR because it went free to play. I left this game when it went free to play, and this game has been my absolute game since launch. It breaks my heart when games go free to play, because at that point, I know everything will revolve around those damn lock boxes and less about earning what you want...for the price of 15 a month. You and I are no different there, my man. Just because I feel like under the conditions of the game, and feel as though all these badges I already had on live, and have earned yet again on Homecoming, and feel like the badges that do not gain you a boost to any stats should be global per server, does not mean I am all about wanting everything in game now now now. I just don't think in those terms, man. Yes, there are spoiled players in this game, but I sure as hell are not one of them. All one needs to do is look at all the power level beggars in LFG chat to see just how spoiled players have become. I come from the old school world of MMO's. I absolutely hate what the Eastern countries have done to the gaming world, because they started all that freemium crap to begin with, and American gaming industries seen all the stupid money they could make from it and followed suit. When this game went free to play and they opened up the cash shop to all the "PLEASE TAKE MY MONIES!" idiots in this game back then, I about puked and left the game...because I knew the spoiled players are what this game was now going to cater to. This game is under special circumstances now. It's not live and everything we worked so hard for on live is lost forever. I have STILL not caught up to the progress I had on live, and I play a lot. So maybe with some people your idea of why I made this thread would apply, but it does not apply here. Accusing me of wanting "I Win buttons" and all that crap is a straight up unfair mischaracterization of what I am al about. Maybe check my post history and you'll see I shoot down "I want an I win button!" topics just as much as you do...not to mention, asking for this request is hardly winning anything. It's pure fluff...if you can even call it that. I has nothing whatsoever to do with the progression of your character...it makes no change to stats, power or anything else other than something to look at when somebody clicks on your character. Want to know what is in this game that I fricken hate? The mission level slider that came from players wanting things easier. When I run a Task Force on +1, people actually complain about that and request I turn it down. It blows my damn mind how easy players want things in this game and sickens me to the core. I miss the days when you ran a Task Force, it wasn't your damn choice, you played on hard level like it or not. I hate that we can fly at such early silly levels now. I hate that people complained about not getting flight or SS or SJ until level 14. I considered those people a bunch of spoiled crybabies who hurt this game by taking that away from this game. It used to be something to look forward to, now it's just another power that you can pick up whenever. I hate that we don't have to run the missions to unlock Capes, or Auras. Those missions were challenging if you played them as soon as they came available. It was challenging and when you earned your Cape and Auras, you felt a certain feeling of accomplishment. I was completely against the idea of A/E. I protested so hard against that idea, because I knew if implemented, it would only be used to farm...and guess what, I was shouted down at then and told that wouldn't happen...and guess what...I was right. I was completely against a lot of things in this game that was implemented anyway...and now because of it, we have people complaining that the game was "too easy." However, I have already made up my mind to let it go. I tossed the idea around, soaked in the feedback and accepted that the majority of people on the forums do not agree. I can accept that. It wasn't a huge deal anyway; as you can see, I didn't put up much of a fight. I simply don't much care for somebody attacking my character as a player when all I inquired about was a fluff improvement. I wanted people's opinion, not their attacks. Your opinions were accepted, that should have been the end of it. There is a lot of character attacking on these forums simply over players asking others how they feel about a particular idea and it's pretty damn shady when there is no evidence to support the attack to people's character. It has a holier than thou ring to it, and I'm sure this is why it is done. It gives the illusion to others reading that boosts one's status over another's....when you break it down to the psychology. It's a cheap shot at another player who is every bit as intelligent and experienced in old school gaming as any of the rest of the people on these boards. I'm 44 years old going on 45, and I have been here playing this game just as long as any of the rest of you. I think I have earned a better status than the title of a spoiled player.

This is true. Each and every mob will turn and make a B-Line straight to the portal one at a time. However, running this mission this way can be VERY long winded. We usually appoint half the team to guard the portal while the rest of us clear mobs out.

I believe in majority rules. Something society has seemed to lost value in over the years. However, I see that the majority here see my thoughts on the matter to be unfavorable. So therefore I forfeit the argument and concede that the majority has voted against the idea. Can't win them all, folks. For those who liked the idea, I appreciate your posts, but fair is fair and the majority have spoken. See ya on the next brilliant idea! 😄

I can't believe after all these years, grown adults have immortalized that troll with his /jranger BS. Sorry, but when I see a /Jranger, I honestly just can't take your opinion seriously. It's like listening to a 10 year old's opinion about quantum mechanics.... simply see them as background noise and shut them out.

I have ran that mission several times. Let me say, before entering that mission your whole team should be going in with a full tray of purples. Pop 3 or 4 at a time and watch your survival rate skyrocket. Good luck.

Originally Burn was a pure DoT, I don't recall it starting off with having Burst upfront with a few tics of DoT after. If I recall, it started off as a bunch of fast tics without the front loaded damage. Anyone remember what the reasoning behind this was?
