  1. I have been running a Fire/Temp/ForceWill/Soul at 50 all day. 1) With the amount of recharge (Hasten near perma) you dont need that many attacks 2) Cones, I love cones, they are situational. If the crowds arent conveniently in a cone throwing a couple Balls is good. 3) Unless you are on AR or Beam (ST mostly) you will be going in for the Nuke. Hard to reset for cones and better to just lay down other AoE 4) When crowds are lined up for cones it is beautiful 4a) Crowds rarely line up for cones 4b) Cones are not the hardest hitting AoE, on a fast recharge build they are great as a alternate way to melt mobs that line up for the love
  2. you should stop using your right hand so vigorously?
  3. from my limited understanding....no, it is based on the "english" the Devs code into that particular attack. They individualize the vector on each attack type. Sometimes it looks like the above. or it might always bend 90 degree right.
  4. Okay. Look at a pool ball. Look at a pool stick. where the ball goes is relative to where the stick strikes it. Not even being Snarky. This diagram is the new version I guess with Vecored KB. Before it would just go straight away from you
  5. This has all been resolved upthread i still maintain that mathematical analysis will reveal that you and the target are part of the geometry in the original version of KB and therefore the KB is relative to the point of impact. Maybe I am thinking about it wrong. To me it always looked like a pool stick and a ball. The ball goes where it goes relative to the point of impact which is dependent on pool stick. Now the Devs have added “English” to the game
  6. in 50 years people will herald me as the super genius that could have saved the planet if people had listened. i am wise enough not to go around talking about this. people on this planet do violent things to those that stand out as visionary
  7. in a line from the caster.... ....to the point of impact so, it was always relative to the point of impact
  8. I am looking at rebuilding yet another Blaster. I like the mental cone. Unfortunately, the care and feeding of the PBAoE sustain Drain Psyche is not fun. I thought Earth, Atomic, Energy, Ice, and Temporal were all good choices for me. I am still mulling choices. Energy has a Mag 8 stun resistance..... But on point Ice has a 135 degree 60 foot cone. No damage, but this thing is a beast when it hits. Also Ice has Ice Patch. Almost all cone sets have to jump in for the PBAoE Nuke. dropping a slip and fall patch is a great exit strategy.
  9. Another great explanation. understood all that but the above explanation was gold
  10. Thank you. I understood that! (and everything else you said, I just chopped for space) I always thought the targeted AoE from EB acted like a PBAoE, as I said above. Never used it much and nerfed it when I did with I/Os. Thank you for the clarification!
  11. It was always relative to the point if impact. I am still not understanding. The Devs decide is the best I heard look, i fire a energy blast ST the target goes away from me. An EB ball the targets go away from the center of the ball. Look how simple that was to say Where does vectored KB send enemies?

    Dark Dark Soul

Definitely. The effectiveness of the cones is definite. I am considering a serious look at either Fire Energy or Dark Energy. I find that at high level you do not need the extra attacks from Mental and the Drain Psyche is a bitch to get into range for way too often. Going in for a Nuke is less risky, shit be dead afterward. The click from Energy also offers stun protection. And.....Extra range. As well as power boost, which would favor Dark. Hit that before the cone wave or the Nuke. "to hit debuffed to hell...."
  13. So what "specifies" the direction. If anyone says it is the relation of the caster to the target I will hunt you all down. That is NORMAL KNOCKBACK.
  14. I am not overly fond of heroes. But watching this vigilante build people to a pulp was always a hoot. /em holdtorch
  15. While I generally like to avoid politics....I am not going to here. I believe over the last few years "information wars" are surging back and forth across the web as governments, their agents, profiteers, and random self selected cheerleaders all go about trying to influence world group think. Which really makes me want to solo Redside again. Damn, that writing is spot on.
  16. Two groups filling in same area is common. It is generally considered (errr rude stupid green bumpkin asshat take your pick ) to start forming the exact same type of ITrial in the same zone. Or even in LFG for that matter. Common exceptions: forming an ITF. Forming a weekly TF forming a Holiday w/e. But you just generally do not walk on another leader by trying to “poach” players. A different TF SF Event or i Trial? Sure. Same thing, especially while standing next to the person? When I have to say you got no class you have really fallen below societal norms….
  17. I just figured the Vampire Overlords felt it necessary to remind me they were watching my every move. Hey Vampire Overlords. Piss off

    Dark Dark Soul

This is mostly a ranged build that plays off Darks to hit debuffs and the massive ranged defense in the build. You do need to joust in for soul Drain and the Nuke. But then hang out at the edge of the fight and cone cone cone cone cone mobs and ST burndown bosses. This last week I have been on a Fire/Mental Blaster with NO defense. There is more carpet inspection but honestly not a ton more if you play smart. Okay, significantly more lol. Still a lot more damage, especially since i chased +range in that build making all the cones really have some floor space
  19. Halloween Server? Ghost town.
  20. I liked a LOT of what Sir Myshkin said. I would say that there are just not enough cones on Corruptor to go there
  21. I still remember my first experiences on Gold. It was challenging. The mechanics were just a bit hinky on some storylines but a very good job using CoH basic to tell “segmented” “player choice affected” arcs. I flat out hated the politics, and still do. Even worse they made an attempt to frame some of it as a philosophical discussion. And failed. (Which actually reinforces the political angle). They did a pretty solid job of telling the stories and wrapping it up. I suppose more content past Night Ward would look like….Shadow Shard. Finish two unfinished things at once… Another power pool? Okay if you insist 🙂
  22. Retirement Zone for Old Supers? You know, tapioca pudding rewards and young punks the ancient Supers can pound, then stand around for 30 minutes talking about the old days over the poor schmuck while waiting for the police and ambulance
