  1. Read my companion thread for late game hard TFs, +4, and newer players. *gets out of dusty coffin and wanders to the porch "You kids have no idea how hard some of the content in the game can be. We used to fight the Phalanx with Single origin enhancers! You get here and we give you I/Os and builds and you trash everything.   2. So, after my hard learned lesson of a few minutes ago I developed a simple new policy. Someone posts LRSF, or casual Miss Liberty. I send a tell "are you running at +0" No response. three different people. So, thats going well. I think i am taking a few weeks off PUGs lol.
  3. We fought him for 5-10 minutes and his health bar actually moved down once or twice before returning to full.
  4. So I joined a Barracuda PUG. Sigh. Why do I do this to myself. Probably the last one. Ever, It was at +4, which was slow going. We load into the last mission, and it hit me. The AVs. Reichsman. +4. Most of this team was really lost on this TF. We grind through it to Reichsman. Guess what? 5h1Z670rM %$&!!! grrrrrr. Tried to get everyone to lower diff and log for 2 min. Did not work. Maybe someone didnt log. Who knows. Lot of drift in there. i was leading some AVs solo on my Blaster and trying to survive ambushes....moderate success. Sigh. Might be my last high level PUG. I am getting to old for this crap.
  5. I would kill to make this a Dark Blaster. Seriously. Just say....um. Yeah, okay. But Dark, and Fire have PBAoE T9s. Elec has a ranged T9 (60 that I have squeezed out to 75...) That means my shortest range attack chain is AoE at 75... and I only close to this "short" range once every 30 seconds or so if things are hot. My normal combat range is right at 100. Softcapped Range Def, and how many mobs really throw AoE out past 80??? I only get hit by crap when in tunnels, caves, and office bldgs. I even do Fire Support for +4/x8 Farm (any damage type) as long as it has a 'real' outdoor map. That asteroid you can keep.
  6. Heyas. still on a quest for my "main" fully Ranged Damage dealer. I have quite the contender. Elec/Temp/Force Blaster. I do not see much in the Blaster primaries that will beat Elec for Ranged Damage. the closest contenders (Water/pistols/rifle) I have issues with. Beam? mebbe... But I want to see if you guy think there is something better. Secondaries? I want range and sustain, range and sustain. ideas? Went with Force for the AoE ranged ball, the mules, etc. Sudden Accel proc in Ball attack So, other Blaster sets that will give this a run for ranged money? As a curiosity, any other GREAt Ranged possiblities. (Corr/Dom...anything?) Thanks for feedback and ideas. The build.   8. It is a different type of "Fear" or "Scare" There is the type of Fear used by Dark Armor/Melee powers on my Brute. Takes Fear enhancements. Mobs are "mezzed" and cower in place with a ghost icon over their face. Then there is the "Scare" used by thing like Artic Air and some location powers. The mobs are scared because they sense damage / effect and just start running wildly. Teams hate this due to mob scatter and you might, erm will, be shamed for using these powers. They take no Fear enhancement, the mobs are not mezzed. They just are triggered into a mechanic to get the heck away.

  10. Yes, it makes a difference. Be a villain. Destroy the power plants of the city. The reactor, the dam. Be a dam villain.
  11. Any Brute will do well. Period. On Single origin enhancers at that. You start to I/O a Brute and it does very well. You I/O, Accolade and Incarnate a Brute and it does amazingly well. You make a tight high end I/O build and balance the Incarnate powers and accolade the thing? Fuggedaboutit. You can take the weirdest combo and still have a incredibly strong character for Incarnate Trials. Basically, whatever you try you are good, and could be golden if you invest some care into the character. I have a Task Force/Incarnate Trial build for my Fire Armor Brute. (a somewhat 'squishy' armor set.) Does great. Ton of damage too. Not Tanking Tyrant on him anytime soon, but there are Tanks who do that.

  13. If this is still your question you have kind of missed the point of nearly every reply. These words mean less than a politicians promises. Use MiDs to find what a power actually does. How much damage, the radius, etc. Then, if you want, make up your own spreadsheet ranking the powers. But trying to rank and compare powers based on these words will take you to a place where Harley Quinn will be 'helping' you find your way back to reality.

  15. Knockback is weird in City of Villains. It is one of the few cases where a very little protection goes a long way. Like, almost all the way. 0 KB Prot = screwed. 1-3 = similar to 0. 4 = okay, not bad. 5-11 = real similar to 4 95% time 12+ = golden except vs very singular mechanics that are very very rare My main is a Dark/Dark Brute (no KB prot) I slot 1 4pt KB reduction. He NEVER experiences difficulties in combat. THis is partly because he flies....all the time. So in the rare occasions I get KB (it happens) I flip around in the air like a pinwheel. I do not fall down, stand up, delay attack. I get a very short penalty then continue my business. If you are not flying you have to stand up. That can feel like a long time in some combats. It will feel like forever if you are in a Knockdown "field" like CoT drop. Because it is hard to get out. If you are flying you flip once and MOVE. I have run just a ton of Invulnerability Brutes. These (almost) never get knocked down. They have 10 points KB prot. It feels more solid than 4. Because sometimes vs almost never is noticeable. Yet it really is a very small difference. Danged nice though. Back Alley Brawler will still put an Invulnerability Brute on his keester in the Lord Recluse Strike Force though. First time it happened to me I was emotionally crushed. Then him and his friends also killed most of the team. That was a looooong time ago and we dont talk about it anymore lol.

  19. I have two comps. My mind does not like windowing spreadsheets. I do it, but I never like it. So I normally have main comp CoH, 2nd comp HC wiki, Discord, Msg Boards. Recently (within the last month or so) I started a 2nd CoH acct and got one 50 on it (a farmer to PL my main acct alts) I tend to run this on the 2nd comp. requires a 2nd email, separate game account. Which led me to wanting a 'real farmer' on my main acct. CoH is addicting. Use caution.

  21. i have done a 45 min Synapse. more than once. on PUGs. Two things drive these short times. 1) getting lucky and getting small maps on the kill alls. A minor tweak the current Devs could make that would be a huge quality of life improvement is default the Kill Alls to small maps. 2) Being on a team of people who want to get this done. I am odd, I like the old TFs. But I still want to get them done. Badge, Merits, GJ, Goodbye. No matter what fix the Devs make there will always be players that do not facilitate fast TFs. Take the Old Posi. Split into two, revamped. I have still been on crap PUGs that take 45-50 minutes to do Part 1. Upping the Difficulty level when you beg them not to. Rushing to the City Hall steps no matter how carefully you try to explain/beg for not going onto city hall steps. Pulling everything they can with no ability to handle the agro and no idea they cannot handle the agro. Not necessarily stupid, but ignorant. Just bone headed ignorant. Get you killed and drag out the TF for long time ignorant. Make you hate PUGs ignorant. hmmmm, i slipped into ranting somewhere. Might as well go with it. "Hey You! Get Off My lawn!"

  23. Quite an accurate statement. Again, a lot of talk about T9s..... No talk about Blaster's Secondary sets. The only way to build a ranged blaster with the original sets was an AR/Dev. Every other combination of power sets have PBAoE and Melee attacks. You can either 1) Choose not to take a lot of hard hitting attacks for design reasons 2) Pretend this is not designed to Melee. Yes, Ice is all ranged. Although the Breath is very close range. What do you pair it with? Ice Secondary has 4 Melee attacks and a PBAoE Toggle... Similar with Elec/Elec, Or any other original combo (that is not AR/Dev) has even more melee attacks and PBAoEs. Most people do not need a long explanation that Blasters were designed to be "Blappers" Some people will not listen to the facts. Yes, new sets like Water Blast are all Ranged. If SS/Inv Tank is what an iconic Melee character is then Energy/Energy Blaster is what an iconic Glass Cannon would be. Energy Energy is a Blapper build. The original Developers built the Blaster Archetype as a Damage Dealer class designed to do a lot of work in melee range. Strange outlier power set choices and gimped builds notwithstanding. One of my pet peeves (he has grown up so big now!) is they slapped "Ranged Damage" on the character choice screen. Saying "This is pretty ranged focused" shows you just accepted the label somebody down in marketing slapped on at the last minute or a genuine deep misunderstanding of how Blasters were originally designed. The Devs (and we all love what the created...mostly) were not spot on with all their creations. They give one thing.... we take it, try it, drop it on the floor sideways and do our own thing with it. Players have no choice in what the Devs give us and Devs have no choice what we do with it. When they developed Redside the Developers thought MMs would be the Tank over there. No one had the patience for that. We slapped hard armor Brutes out front (most without taunt) and started cannonballing mobs. That does not mean that MMs were not designed as a Tank class. Because they were designed to be able to do that. They just did a slow mediocre job in normal play and have not improved at the job in the current environment. Any look at Blasters that is not tongue in cheek or obtuse will yield an understanding they were designed to Melee hard. Very hard.

    my highest def is 39% melee. Happened more or less by accident. I chased resist and accuracy and recharge
