  1. Scrappers have less health I know. But on Live my Goto was a SS/Will Brute when they came out. Remember the days of no inherent fitness? These things just needed SOs. And they rocked. Yes, you had to know what you could rush into. Maybe eat an inspiration. But danged, it is solid. I ran a Beam/Will Sentinel a year? ago to 50. Danged relaxed play. With changes to Sentinels I suspect this may be one of the better ST damage dealers in the game now. Not doing the maths/testing.
  2. When I found Homecoming some years back I dived into a SS/Inv Brute. As expected. I found a horrifically expensive build. By "found" I mean begged, and a clever individual named Hyperstrike said "this one" I still have the toon built up and mostly parked. Now, i have always hated farming. I will do so rarely now to PL my own toons. (Alt Acct Farmer PLs main acct new concept) But I much prefer running story arcs and Task Force/Strike Force/Trials. At least I get merits. And at 50 the cash rewards and drops are good, sometimes great. In the beginning I received help. But after that first toon (which I was on a LOT for 6 months) I just bumble along. i have made money crafting & converting all recipes dropped. Then listing on AH. Good funds in that, but it is work. Farming brings in great rewards. I dislike it. A LOT. Since I run a lot of content I have tons of merits. Selling Enhancement Converters can be lucrative. I recently pawned off a bulk sale to a volume retailer I know. I scraped 80% of my merits together from all sitting toons over last few years and made a bulk deal for a huge chunk. The other 20% saved for May buying of Vet badges (turns out I needed very few) Yesterday i looked through my base and consolidated all my HAMIs into one bin. But the bin was too small. I gathered those of the "type" I had the most of and sold those extra. I also asked "what is that expensive Hami?" turns out it is a acc/threat/rech. And i had one. Sold for 350 mil. I joined a group I know, Ronin's Raiders (new crew on CoH, and polite, professional. wacky. very dedicated to learning hard mode) I did a 2 star ITF with them and a 1 star LGTF. I got a purp recipe at the start of LGTF, and another a few minutes later. We finished and I got a .... not kidding ... acc/threat/rech Hami. another 350 mil. Now I listed both at 1, but there are fees. I think i netted 320 mil on each. I will bin the purps. I hate to AH nearly as much as I hate farming. But that was a day I earned over 640 mil, plus merits, reg TF money drops, and recipes to craft/bin. It may be my best one day in game. But only because I had the one Hami in a closet for a year or more lol. Still a good day. The REAL way to make money in CoH/V? Run a 50. In content you enjoy. The money/drops are so great. There are tons of "make money like this" They almost all work as advertised. But PLAY the character you came here to PLAY. Money will flow. A lot of it.
  3. in the 4 star itf should the green (emerald) nova be held or do we continue to burn it down like in 1/2 star content? also, in 4 star, does it become necessary to have a scrapper or Brute for the yellow nova or, as usual, do we just zerg it?
  4. i meant fire melee. scrappers get fire melee right? wait.... funny i get it now
  5. someone out there has a fire regen scrapper they love and swears is great.... you know it.
  6. I played on Live with a truly broken economy. Here, with any effort, you can kit out a “real build” in a reasonable time. By this i mean the merits, drops, and constant gifts showered on regular play will make all your biggest needs fulfilled. In 3 hours play? No. But by the time you are vet level 30? Probably.
  7. It will tend to depend on AT. resist armors favor Brutes and Tanks, with higher resist caps. There is going to be an armor by armor trade off when moving to a scrapper. Some will be less effective, more than others.
  8. I will not do a comparison side by side, but on the Doms I build the ST damage is very close to a Blaster, maybe on parity with a Sentinel. Most Doms have less AoE than even a Sentinel (for DPS, not control) DOMs usually get no build up powers. They do respectable ST damage, in my opinion. They have great control. Is that a DPS? Is a Brute a DPS? What is a DPS? I think we can safely rule out Controllers (*now on hide from Controllers) but even Tanks these days (certain builds) will make an argument for being DPS. So, OP, what is DPS? To you?
  9. why? why necro this thing? why?
  10. Have you considered the strategy of not standing next to an AV?
  11. words to live by Blue side. complete all contacts as soon as you get them, with exp stopped.
  12. Please hold your breath lol. No, seriously, I am asking these questions because I am just getting into this content. I can remember 1 4 star aeon from a couple years ago where Cosmic Council pretty much carried me. Now I am doing 1-2 star LGTF and ITF on Blasters and sometimes a Tank. Maybe 10? total runs. 15? So.... Excalibonk may/may not happen.
  13. The HC Wiki is wrong 1-3% time on contacts. Very Frustrating. I have screwed multiple runs I have tried this with. My grinder ones continued on anyways. On the Contacts by Level pages Blueside you want ONE from each Origin. The others in that Origin group offer the exacts same arc, are not accessible, and are just there to make it seem like there is more content. Pages like this for each level range: Category:Hero Contacts Level 5-14 - Unofficial Homecoming Wiki Here is my spreadsheet. There are still errors in this, but it has 99% of everything (not the new Striga, but probably everything else.) Some of the level ranges are still hinky because they are from the HC Wiki. BEWARE ranges ending in 5 or 10s. They are probably 9, 14, 19. 24. etc. The Wiki lists them wrong and you have passed their content. I think one random Blue contact ends all their stuff at 7-8 and I keep forgetting to update the sheet. Oh, I promised myself if I ever tried this again I would stop XP at the START of Blueside Ranges. Red works fine going to end of the range, but Blue.... aw jeez. contacts CoH CoV.xlsx
  14. My ine big takeaway from this. (And there has been a LOT of good info and takeaways) is that once you get to 4star anything too far outside the perfect AT and even power choices are just a carry. Now, we all know we are not getting the bug hunter badge. But many of us at least harbor dreams of getting most/all of the badges. To see the 4 star badges and things like Excalibonk being reserved for X AT/ Y Powerset / Z power picks / DeltaC slotting…. I find that kind of sad. I know people have asked for hard content. So something had to give. And what gave where all the character actors. So the stars can get the badges, marquees, and big paydays
  15. yeah, i also got a 30 min lecture on how a Dark Tank not built for soft capped defense was useless in a higher starred TF. I build mine for maximum resistance because Dark has no defense debuff resistance and the faux defense of stun, fear, non suppressing stealth, and to hit debuffs. (dark/dark). was told to rework it to maintain those resistances??? softcap defenses, and max the health pool..... ??? any ideas on that lololol Tanker - Dark Dark v7.2.mbd
  16. I actually got a 30 min lecture in discord when I brought up a Dom to a crew coming over from another game and starting 1/2 star content. Part of the reason I started this topic.
  17. You might be surprised by the change in Snarky. Okay, maybe not lol. But I am doing strange "strategy" builds now. Like having a Dark Dark Corr with a Mag 2 stun PBAoE toggle and a mag 2 stun AoE ranged so I can mag 4 stun mobs as I come in to Blackstar. Or a Fire Fire Fire Blaster built for maximum damage as the solution to ALL problems. Or a AR/Dev Blaster built for +65% range and large +damage rather than focusing on ranged defense. (was my prelude to Fire Blaster Idea) Granted, these are my edge cases. But they show my thinking in the last year. Then on high end teams barrier, and communication/teamwork, allows for success.
  18. This thread has the most serious Tankers i know. Someone told me they have a Fire Tank with very high resists (80% energy res the lowest, high defenses…softcap zip code, and near max health…..). Just from the build stone cold. Is this possible or not?
  19. This is a hard one. I find i have to tell people a few times we have to keep killing it for the event badge. As long as you get there with one or two other believers then it all works out
  20. I have fly on everything. Especially handy vs knockback. Even a high mag KB tends ti just send me for a flip in the air.
  21. What are considered good to have on these harder runs? What are considered "that is not so good?" is the break point at 2 star or 4 star where it really starts to be important?
  22. I DO NOT! There are alternate animations for those armors. It takes me a half hour to layer and color all the Dark armors into the correct smudge on your screen as I pass by....
  23. You can convert them to threads. Meh. Or you can save them up and use 30 to add to two notices of the well (for a weekly strike target) for a favor of the well. Which nets more threads when busted down. Either way end goal is threads. shards are an alternate currency from a much slower era of the game.
