Build Request: mega-expensive StJ / Bio

Recommended Posts

I've seen people talk about StJ / Bio all over the forum and in the game as well.  But I've never found a build posted, except for one person who posted a build here a few times, but in a format that looked like pure gibberish to me (I've never seen that format before or since, and I couldn't read it).  I'd love to see someone put up a completely min-maxed end-game money-is-no-object Street Justice /  Bio build, probably for PVE, but I'd take a long look at a PVP-focused build, too.  Please and thanks.

I have a little ability to put together my own builds, but my difficulty with this one is that Street Justice has only a couple of skippable powers, and Bio has almost none.  There's very little room to throw in pool powers unless you make sacrifices.  And then, are you losing out on useful mules for great sets?  And which epic pool is going to really min-max the build well?  This Gordian knot has overwhelmed me.

Alright, I've mocked one up.  Maybe this can  draw criticism, at least, if not someone's actual build.

This is an alternate version that sacks Physical Perfection to use Ring of Fire as a mule.  Any ranged epic attack would work, really.  But that gives me a little more set bonus damage, and squeezing out more damage is what the build is really all about.  I guess I'll know, when I get close to the 40s, whether or not I'll be endurance-efficient enough to want to go this way.

My biggest concerns so far:

1) No hasten.  But I have 257.5% recharge, so maybe I don't need it.  I don't know.

2) I've slotted Genetic Corruption with Fortuna Hypnosis, because it's the only purple.  BUT: using Lethargic Repose instead would give me a little defense, which I could still use.  I'm not sure whether or not FH is a mistake.

3) Still somewhat underwhelming for defense and resists, even though I squeezed it out from just about every place I could find (except point 2 above).  Only fire and cold defense is capped, and only S/L resist is capped.  I know that I'm not a tank, but it's nice to be capped if possible, right?  Maybe Bio isn't the  defense set for that, since its protections are all over the page.  Or maybe there's a way to do better that I haven't seen.  That's why I'm asking for help!

Thanks.

1) This is not 257.5% recharge. Ageless gradually decreases to 10% (maybe 12%) and does not really give you as much recharge, by the minute and a half mark, you have lost 2/3's of Ageless benefit. Further, unless you are running around spamming Kick all the time, you cannot rely on Forced Feedback (all the time meaning at least once every 5 seconds, which you'd probably need to kick 2-3 times to pull this off.) I'm not trying to be rude, but saying you have a ridiculous number such as "257.5% without Hasten" is not accurate. If you aren't going to allow kick to disrupt a good ST and AOE chain, you have 87.5% recharge (possibly 97.5% if you really want to count Ageless' end recharge number).

2) Hide being turned on in Mids Reborn is not accurate of hide when broken (your actual defense numbers) your actual defense numbers really need improvement.

3) This is true, but Bio very well can be made to survive quite nicely if it is properly slotted, in this case, it will not. You need to use your actual recharge numbers, not rely on Kick which will lower your DPS by considerable amounts, and you need to turn Ageless off. I would heavily consider revising this build and making your endurance issues subside enough so that you can run Barrier and cap things much easier and have an entire period of almost 20 seconds of pure invincibility.

I didn't realize that the Kick enhancement or the ageless would be factored into the number I got on my total.  Thanks for letting me know.  Thanks for taking the time to offer a critique.

All of this advice sounds wonderful.  I am such an amateur at this.  But... I've asked, BEGGED, even, for someone who knows what they're doing (which is not me) to post a build.  A build.  A build.  Please.

I even posted my own awful attempts at builds, because people sometimes say that if you want help, you should post one.  I posted two.  And still, nobody seems to want to actually post one that works.  Even with the critique... no build.

Is there something else I need to do to get the help I need?

Here's another attempt to provoke a decent build from someone out there.  I've removed my travel power for Hasten (I guess I'll make do with a P2W hover-board or something) and four-slotted Kick for the Kinetic Combat set bonus.  Defenses are getting respectable: fire/ cold is  still capped, S/L is 40.3%, Energy/ Neg is 36.7%, Psi is 23.6%,  S/ L resists are capped.

Used Moonbeam from Soul Mastery, since it's popular among Stalkers, but it might as well be a mule.  I slotted it with Siphon Insight purely for the defense set bonus.  Not sure if that's a good idea or not, but as I said, I'm scrambling for defense right now.

As the helpful poster above mentioned, recharge is only 77.5%, but at  least Hasten is there now.

As I've said, I'm not very good at this.  But I'm doing my best.  I truly wish one of  the experts would weigh in with a tried-and-true end-game build.  I'm starting to suspect that there isn't one--maybe viable StJ /  Bio stalkers are like Santa Claus: everybody talks about them, but they don't actually exist (yet).

When I have a moment, I'll put one together for you.

1) This is not 257.5% recharge. Ageless gradually decreases to 10% (maybe 12%) and does not really give you as much recharge, by the minute and a half mark, you have lost 2/3's of Ageless benefit. The problem is that Bio is really inefficient on a Stalker. They lose their best power for the sake of Hide, so Bio is one of those sets in which you really should play a Scrapper instead. It makes people more reluctant to make a build for you.

How married to Bio are you exactly? Considering the loss of that key aura, you can actually get similar damage numbers from Shield while being far more powerful defensively.

If you are okay with Shield, this build will serve you well. It has top-tier damage while still remaining defensively strong:

@ApollyonJones

Here is a really decent build I came up with for you. You can totally choose to not go with Parasitic Aura, that's your choice there, if you want to take SJ for example, you 100% can if you want. You can also choose not to take Assault if you wish.

I set the number of enemies at the "standard of 5," I find this to generally be an average mob size that's realistic, of course there are situations you can land 10, but there's some you can only get off 1. I think this is a decent expectation for realistic gameplay.

Further, with this build, you are *almost* capped to S/L resistance with barrier (74.5% vs 75%) and *almost* capped to S/L defense at 44.1%. I think this is good enough to "call it a day." especially with the absorbs and further damage mitigations.

So with T4 Barrier Core (because it permanently boosts you 5% res/def) you are effectively softcapped to S/L/E/N/F/C and capped res to S/L.

Relies on Agility T4 as well.

Build is not the cheapest, though not the most expensive I've made.

You get very good procs in this build, you'll have an Achilles proc for -res, you'll also have two purple-level procs in your CU, making it deal massive damage. You also have both AOEs.

I put a sandman's proc in the Genetic Corruption because that could be some serious regeneration to you.

Even with SS and everything else on, you recover almost 3 end/sec more than you lose, more if you turn it off, and you have plenty of procs (panacea, PS) to mitigate that quite heavily.

Eh, I think you're downing bio a lot. The sleep effect in this for stalkers makes them deal a lot more damage than AAO. Bio in offensive mode is giving all of your powers a +20% increase. Bio also offers regeneration. As much as I like SD, the damage buff it provides in reality is minimal due to the fact that stalkers get very consistent build-ups so the small damage buff they'd normally gain from SD doesn't really compare to Offensive Adaptation. There's also the fact that you can put a Sandman's proc in the stalker aura and you are now at almost IH-level regen pretty consistently, while weakening their damage, and also gaining extreme amounts of extra damage if they are slept from that aura due to stalker extra damage mechanics on sleep effects.

Bottom line: Bio Armor is NOT bad at all or less than SD for Stalkers. Scrappers are a little different, but Stalkers no.

As I really like stalkers, and I really like min-maxed toons, I'm very interested in how good I can make a stalker's damage output using the various secondaries that add directly to it. On paper, at least, Bio seems to do that better than any other.  But yes, there's also Shield with its + to damage per enemy in melee range.  I've played two shield stalkers to 50 now (elec, for the AoE madness, and a broadsword for the big hits).  I like shield.  But I want to try several different options.  I'm also interested in stalkers using the SR, electricity, or energy +20% to recharge.  Those could make a difference in performance as well.  But nothing looks more promising on paper than Bio for its damage buff.  I understand it's a set that requires regular clicking, which can potentially disrupt a good attack sequence.  But can it be managed for maximum performance?  I am excited to see how it works when the rubber meets the road.  And I'm glad to have a build in-hand that will give it a fair shake.

I know people are all anti resist secondaries on stalkers, and for a good reason.

However I gave Savage/radiation a try, because I have a staff/bio, am over soft cap to melee and have the extra AoE power in my T8. Not to mention the 33% to dam from meltdown. He feels very strong. I did end up going melee hybrid instead of assault for more def when debuffs are heavy in incarnate content, but overall Gammagator has been a blast and I wouldn't sleep on radiation at all, even though bio seems to do everything it does slightly better.

I was actually working on this build and thought this was a build that may need a tad bit of recharge to work really well. I put together a build with a simplified attack chain in mind ( AS -> Initial Strike -> Shin Breaker -> Initial Strike -> Spinning Strike ). This allows you to have a nice juicy AoE as a finisher with a good chunk of ST to keep it moving. I slipped in a disorient proc and a couple -Res procs to help with AVs, and took Soul Mastery. Shadow Meld can be up an insanely high amount of the time as can Parasitic Aura. I haven't tried out this build, but it looks like it could work quite well...

Here is a really decent build I came up with for you.

Thanks for posting your build.  I was hesitant to make a /Bio stalker due to my previous build attempts on a /Bio Sentinel not reaching the resist and defense goals I had.  With a few tweaks to your build, I was able to reach 74.8% S/L resist, 44.7% S/L defense, 44.1% F/C, and 43.5% E/N, without using Barrier.

I know this post is old but I thought I'd chime in incase anyone is still reading.

I play bio armour a LOT. Its strength doesn't lie in its resistance, defence or even regeneration. Its absorption.

Recent updates have scrapers and stalkers secondaries almost identical in effect and  their hp as evened out too.

I'm on mobile so cant post a mids build but getting smashing and lethal defence capped isn't needed. Get it to 20%. Fire and cold cap and energy/negative to 40%. The reason for this is both scrapers and stalkers share patron pools, in this case soul mastery, which has shadow meld. A cashless +30% defence to all for 15 seconds on a 90 second cool down. So from slots it's at 45s, get your global recharge to 100% and its 30s. So it's up half the time.

While it's up, your untouchable to even AVs. While it's down you can use 2 separate absorb shields giving you 2 helpings of 1300hp. That means for those 15 seconds you have 3600 health to fall on, not counting regeneration of DNA healing.

I'm building a Stj/bio stalker on reunion currently, just started slotting ATOs at lvl 50 today. On test it was happily soloing council solo on +4*8 at about 30s a mob. Not the fastest but the PBAoE is tiny! I'm still adapting his rotation but I can already stack buildup to make that PBAoE 1 shot red minions.

I main a TW/bio scrapper who has walked through PI, DA, Cimerora, Grandville missions on max difficulty solo  including all the AVs and most Heroes, Mynx is still a pain! Stalkers Stj is about half as good at AoE but ST is about even, possibly higher in prolonged 1v1 beatdowns thanks to -res, build up continually coming up and reliable crits.

My stalker hasn't unlocked VET on live so I cant accurately compare them on everything but survival wise that are fairly even with bio giving some CC instead of the DoT from corruption.

With STJ’s aoe being so small. What do you think to a savage melee / bio ? I am about to roll my first stalker and im

dead set on using savage as it sounds great for ST and aoe, my only quandary now is determining my secondary, shield and bio seem to be the two contenders from what I’ve read so far. I have a Savage / shield build, but I havnt managed to make anything savage/ bio wise, clueless how to do it on a stalker. Do you have a savage / bio I could look at? The whole absorb / shadow meld idea seems neat, just like shield with incarnate heal looks, but more reliable due to shorter cd’s.

i am not sure why people constantly try and reach some defense or resist cap for bio, literally stack asstons of recharge for perma ablative carapace/dna siphon  and almost perma parasitic...for insane amounts of regen that regen stalkers can only dream of... you basically click your healy buttons on cooldown and can survive damn near anything...you build for bio the same way you build for damage...LOTS of RECHARGE!

Take Spiritual Core for Alpha and ageless for even MORE RECHARGE...that is winning !

Also ...never ever skip parasitic its too good!
