How does WP have more regen than /regen?

TCRSavage

Recommended Posts

I was tooling around on mids looking at character concepts, and started a wm/wp build, using lvl 50 I/os, was hovering around 500% regen, with good resists and defense.  I tried to see how much regen I could get using wm/regen, and wtaf, I was looking at regen topping out (passives) at 300%.  Does that sound even remotely right?  I know regen is clicky, but according to mids, you can't slot IH for healing and get any return (2.3% or so for the first IO) and there's no way to boost health other than DP.

Am I taking crazy pills?  Regen is worse at regen than other powersets?  This saddens me if true, my only 50 was a DM/Regen back in the day.  I've been sorting through the forums and just see a lot of "regen sux" comments, but I cannot understand what's happened, and if WP is simply the new regen?

Are regen players just popping MoG for every fight using hasten and burnout, slotting everything for recharge?

It doesn't.
You're looking at WP's maximum steady-state regen.

At full tilt, a TOTALLY UNSLOTTED Regen is at 1165% on a Brute

Three-slotted with 50+5 generics and the two +Regen uniques, you're sitting at 1599%.
WITHOUT Instant Healing, you're at 592%

Thanks for the quick reply!  So, Brutes also have a higher HP cap, do they not, which increases the rate of regen?

Not quite.

Yes, Brutes have a higher HP count.
The regeneration RATE is the percentage.
But, with higher HP, that translates into more HP per clock-tick.

And don't forget that Willpower is often considered an "apology" for how badly Regen was nerfed, back in the day.  WP is often called "the better Regen", because it offers both regen (albeit less than pure Regen) and layered resist/defense.  But if you want pure +regen, Regen is still the best; however, if you want regen + armor, you go WP.

WP is better in general play than Regen, and easier to build for.

You can build up Regen sure.  And of course it has more Regen at its peak times.

Some people still have WP hate though, always will.

Willpower takes Regen’s lunch money and makes it walk home with no shoes. The truth is the truth.😉

Basically with the right build, including a lot of recharge, Regen can be just as survivable as a well built WP.  Using clicks.

WP needs no clicks.

With less optimized builds its just as Myrmidon says.

On SO's?  Pffts.  Add in WP giving Regen swirlies after Recess and stealing Regen's girlfriend.

Some people eat Tide Pods. It takes a village.

If it takes a village to make someone "eat" Tide Pods, that's technically called "Torture and Poisoning".
