Is anyone else finding Combat Teleport a little... glitchy, buggy, unpredictable?

I've had TP on my main since early days on live and use double-click to use it fast and smoothly. In integrating CTP into the alt, I put that on doubleclick for fast accessiblity and regular TP on CTRL+doubleclick for travel. Besides never being able to remember to use CTRL while traveling or trying to get somewhere vertical, I've found that Combat Teleport never quite does what I want.

It seems to be easily blocked by any object in the way, and trying to get up on a catwalk or such is nearly impossible. I am used to TP'ing at, say, a pillar and then dropping onto a surface. CTP simply won't do that, 9 times out of 10; I materialize outside the railing or low wall or whatever and drop. Unlike TP, which can go "through" openings, CTP seems to treat windows, openings, railing spaces etc. as solid.

So other than for moving around a more or less flat area, it's been a real PITA and not of much use.

I haven't encountered this issue, but I'm only using it on one character currently, experimenting with it as a replacement for Combat Jumping, and experimenting to see how well it works in conjunction with movement.  I use /bind button4 "powexec_location camera:max Combat Teleport", pop up on balconies, onto the platform at tram stations, etc.  I was fiddling with it in Brickstown a couple of nights ago, used it to 'port through those annoying pipes in the lower level of the zone, just west of The Crescent (where it drops down and has a badge and a few mission doors behind large pipes and a low brick wall), and I went straight through.

Get busy living... or get busy dying.  That's goddamn right.

I don't know about that, but on my Ice Tank I use Energy Absorption quite often. Lately I have been finding myself on teams who have other Tanks with the Teleport power and they tend to teleport the mobs to them after I already have them stacked on me...which can be frustrating because they seem to do it right when I hit Energy Absorption...which means I get zero Defense buff and zero Endurance. This teleporting mobs thing was a huge bane during my Numina run today.

Humbug ... just bind "you all owe me purple and blue skittles" for when that happens

I haven't ran into any issues with CTP that weren't just me overestimating the range, but then I also have 6 binds specifically for the power so I might be a little crazy.

exChampion and exInfinity player (Champion primarily).

Bind it is my take on it. I havent tried pushing a button in a power bar with a mouse. I recommend binding to f, only because i put myself on braindead for r to travel (no travel power, hover discs)

It is on a bind - doubleclick to point and go. Very fast and effective way to use TP powers.

I did some experimenting and there is definitely something "resistant" about CTP taking you to spots that TP does easily.

@Shenanigunner

I haven't tried it yet with a bind, but I did have some questions to ask.

Are the problems you're having possibly due to the limited range of Combat Teleport? TP has a 300 ft range that can be enhanced and strengthened, whereas CTP has a 100 ft range and can only be enhanced.

Are you having trouble using it initially, or is it when you are trying to chain it back-to-back?

Have you tested TP with the bind since the i27 update? If not, it might be worth seeing how it's working now and also compare that to how TP used to work for you.

While looking at the two powers and its effects, I see no major difference between the two. They both require line of sight, however CTP animates so much faster. My guess is, the animation could be fickle. TP has a 0s recharge and its effect begins 0.8s into the animation and the TP itself happens at the 2s mark (0.8s to start + 1.17s delay). CTP has a 6s recharge and its effects start 0.5s into the animation and the TP itself starts at 0.8s (0.5s to start + 0.3s delay).

CTP also has charges that allows it to instantly recharge the power that could make it a tad clunky when trying to chain CTPs in a row. I say this because the instant recharge isn't granted until after a 1s delay. That makes the CTP animate in 0.8s, however it takes 1.5s (0.5s to start + 1s delay) to recharge again. So there will be a window where you might be trying to use CTP again and the power isn't recharged yet.

I do rarely have the problem of a physical object separating me from the target.  This is usually a target that is slightly elevated above me, with a waist-high barrier between myself and the object.  Otherwise, combat teleport works brilliantly and has become my new, favorite power.

Fold space is the one that I actually have the most trouble with, as it seems to fail to trigger about 50% of the time.  Possibly I need to slot it for more accuracy, or it's just bad luck with the rng, but it still feels a bit buggy to me.  Anyone else have issues with it?  The others TP powers work great, although I haven't got Team Teleport yet (though I plan to get it), so I can't comment on that one.

Thanks for the input, @Bopper. I've considered most of that and have to spend a while doing back-to-back tests of the same teleport under various conditions, but the bottom line is that CTP seems to be blocked more easily/frequently by objects than TP. I can TP up into a pillar perhaps 50 feet away and drop onto a catwalk; the same attempt with CTP "bounces off:" the railing or catwalk edge and I drop back to the ground. And so forth.

More when I have time to test, and yes, the short range does bite me when I forget which TP mode I am in, but I'm definitely seeing a fault in how CTP actually executes. Stay 'tooned.
