The Sentinel was a badly designed AT (even admitted by the designer on these forums), that should never have been added to the game. Their only effective purpose is to teach newbies how to play Blasters while feeling safe, and then they can eventually graduate to Blasters. Like as said above, "training wheels." LOL. Despite what the designer says there are plenty who love them. Edited March 3, 2021 by Darmian 1 1 AE SFMA Arcs: The Meteors (Arc id 42079) | Dark Deeds in Galaxy City: Part One. Bill Z Bubba Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 It's a seriously stupid statement. Might as well say every AT is training wheels unless you're soloing a max diff MLTF with a warshade. 1
Coyotedancer Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 *Shrugs* I like my Sents. I enjoy playing them. I don't find them a poor addition to the game and I don't think they're "training wheels for blasters". I also don't give a rat's rosy red bum if the min/maxers, power-gamers and MIDS Gurus don't consider them OMGTheBestestATEVER. They're still fun characters to play, even if they're not soloing Hamidon. 5 1 Taker of screenshots. Player of creepy Oranbegans and Rularuu bird-things. Myrmidon Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Last TF run with my Beam Rifle/Invul: Blaster: “Does anyone have any wakies?”. Me: “What’s that?”. 6 Playing CoX is it’s own reward

My fire/bio sent is in the top 5 of my most played characters. I wouldn't play him if he wasn't fun. Course, he can solo in DA without issue where my fire/time blaster is a study in aggravation even with clarion and softcapped range defense. But she's fun when teaming. Oh yea... and the sent? I did solo a max diff ITF with him. Which was a PITA due to the AVs running all over the map. Edited March 3, 2021 by Bill Z Bubba

Hew Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Crossref: Crimson Prototype Here is an example of a debuff that is unexpected and generally not planned for that impacts incarnates and regular folk in the same way. It is a great equalizer among the masses... Why can't new/additional content be built with other equalizing factors that do not adversely affect non incarnates, but still punch hard enough to hit incarnates? 3

They might not win out on a single metric against other ATs, but the well rounded nature of them is satisfying to number crunch for in it's own way. I like their implementation because they don't overshadow the existing ATs. 4
Infinitum Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 I'll give you another example of a sideways event im famous for. lol Happened last night - been running Market Crashes all week at +4/8 last night had a great team but the last mission i dont know if it was the stalker that agroed the robot solo that set it off, or if it was a glitch but he kept overspawning once we would get him halfway and then crashing the whole team - which was made worse when he and his cohorts crawled up the hill like a spectre of death and started nuking the hospital. I base ported and went to PD and bought everyone level shifts and even bought signature summons and temporary power buffs - but again half life on it - 20-30 skyraiders would spawn and crash us - I was on a EM Ninjitsu scrapper my wife a dark dark tanker - we tried pulling away from the hospital but two people had already left, so we chalked that one up to a loss - that was with all of the team but 1 being level shifted. I'm going back tonight and sanford and son'ing that big metal SOB though. 2
arcane Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Both of my sentinels lean hard towards proc monstering because I’m scared to try sentinel damage as it is 😞

I actually want to like Sentinels, but I look at their damage and AoE cap and I just can’t bring myself to make one. The only way you can get respectable damage out of one is via damage procs (which are inevitably going to be nerfed at some point), and/or Psionic Mastery. Meanwhile, my Blasters do a ton of damage, have tanked TFs/SFs (including the ITF), and can solo missions at +3x8. I just don’t see the point. To each his or her own though.
arcane Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 My new DP/SR has 3 attacks with 6 damage procs and another with 5. Working ok with all that but I agree it’s not exactly hard to keep a blaster alive..

Sovera Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 I like the Market crash TF. It's short. It does feel very amateurish though. Especially the first missions is pretty much an official farm map but at 100% XP and no hoops jumped to reach a particular mission in an arc. Opinions on training wheels ATs are just that. Everyone has an opinion. I wouldn't touch a Brute before the Tanker pass when Scrappers are better damage dealers and now with the Tanker pass I would not touch a Brute when the only thing they had - the damage - is no longer the huge gap it used to be. They need to sacrifice a lot to get the same defenses a Tanker can get, and who can then play with slotting for more damage. Funny enough with all this talk I took to DA to solo it for incarnate materials having learned today we no longet get threads after vet level 11, and I actually raked 3-4 deaths. Always for the same reason though: defense debuffs. Knifes and Pantheon would debuff me to hell and back and I'd be whittled. All of them dumb deaths I could have avoided but the real training wheels - non incarnate content - is so easy I didn't even react when I should have. Popping Barrier, eating a couple of purples, kiting. I just stood there trying to take it. Speaking of am I the only one who finds it a bit BS that resistance armors get shafted by -def debuffs? I'd understand defense sets fearing -def like the plague, but resistance sets get chewed up and die through their 90% resists. I know -why- it happens, just calling it BS. - Simple guide for newcomers. - Money making included among other things. - Tanker Fire Armor: the Turtle, the Allrounder, the Dragon, and compilation of Fire Armor builds. - Tanker Stone Armor: beginner friendly (near) immortal Tanker for leveling/end-game and Stone Armor framework. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.

I'm with ya there its silly how fast def debuffs can drop a res based character with no DDR.
Apparition Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Yeah. That is why I always take Ageless Radial Destiny on resistance based characters.
Bill Z Bubba Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 (edited) It's really too bad that defense doesn't debuff defense debuffs like damres debuffs damres debuffs cuz then DDR wouldn't matter. Edit: And then Ice armor wouldn't be the complete trash set that it is. Edited March 3, 2021 by Bill Z Bubba

Sovera Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 I have to say Ice Armor is endurance heavy. But trash? Galaxy Brain Posted March 3, 2021 Author Posted March 3, 2021 Based on my testing on tanks, Ice Armor is actually pulling ahead of most the sets at least on a base level? 1
