certain powersets are just way more powerful. i have made over 50 different combinations and slotted them all. kinetic melee is pretty terrible. melee cones are just way too small. a blaster comes in and can hit all targets in a 30 yd radius and shadow maul or arc of destruction are just a few to name that hit like maybe 1 or 2 enemies. i get probably the reason is limiting fire farming but throttling all the melee bc of farming ruins the experience for all content. by the time i hit a mob in team a blaster or corrupter or any ranged class kills all the targets while im hitting 1 or 2 with my abilities it makes me just want to go back to farming instead of playing the other content. tbh brutes aren't even the fastest farmers anymore. ive been in fire farms where blasters and corrupters have dang near the same defenses without all the aoe capping amd gutting that has occurred to melee bc of farming. a good look at the logistics and how yall can bring melee back in line with the rest of the classes. tbh the most damage ive seen is the macro peabringer which is just completely busted able to burst 20 k damage in less then 10 seconds. a buff to some melee classes would be refreshing. bigger cone radiuses and range.it also pertains in pvp. a ranged toon can sit with 60% defense and 3 shot melees with actual defensive secondaries, it doesn't make that much sense. the only good melee specs in a pvp setting are the ones that give a defense debuff. thank you for consideration

Pretty sure, the devs already mentioned they intend to buff kin melee at some point, unfortunately this is a entirely volunteer dev team and these things take time and they want to do it right the first time to not cause more work down the line.

 

Melee is fine btw, good even, they tend to have some of the best raw single target damage in the game that's realistic and good sustained AoE, you just need to learn to move. This isn't even bringing taunt into the equation which tanks/brute/scrapper get alot of or them having the best damage mitigation. Oh and yes, blast sets CAN farm better then melee, it's however ALOT harder and usually you bring a tank or brute anyways as taunt stops enemies from running, and while you can, you don't normally do that solo. Honestly if a blaster couldn't out DPS a brute that would be a way bigger issue thats kinda the point of blaster. Oh and as someone who both plays a changeling PB and plays with alot of changeling PBs, they aren't that busted beyond what you can do with say a scrapper, they are also REALLY damn hard to set up and play properly.

 

Seriously I've seen some wild takes in this game but "Melee is underpowered and needs buffs" is one the of the wildest.

Asking for melee cones/AoEs to have the same radii and target caps as ranged cones/AoEs is nonsensical. That isn't a balance issue, it's simply the design of the ATs.

melee cones are dogpoop period, i plaued  on a very small private server and was given dev power... powers are literally tweaked with bars where they just turn them up and down lmaoooo.... there is no effort other then typing different numbers and and shifting power knobs

Wait, is OP saying that melee sets are broken because utilizing a (known and sanctioned-for-now) exploit allows a Peacebringer to put out... *checks notes* ...damage numbers comparable to a lowish-end Scrapper?

Considering OP is a brand new account yet complained about their 5 year old characters being deleted, I'm leaning towards AI bot. Could be wrong. Gut feeling says bot, though. That or our education system has truly let us down.

Better go back to that private server and tweak the knobs then.

 

Probably best done in a dark room with some tissues to hand

I think plate spinning would be more interesting than balancing.  You can hit things with spinning plates and cut them.  Plate spinning is like, totally melee balancing plus.

Honestly, I'm a lot more concerned with how little 'trollers and other 'support' AT's seem to be able to bring to a team in high level play, especially once Incarnates are factored in. It's kind of the reverse of the Wizard problem in fantasy RPG's... at higher levels, melee types have their defenses all sorted out and damage dealers tend to wipe the board while support types are still trying to get their buffs or controls in place. That observation is based on my own limited experience playing the respective AT's, of course. I wonder if increasing the penalties for deaths, so that they actually matter, might be a tangential boost to the support class?

You do realize(Or your not smart enough to).  Melee has something Blasters don't have.  Armor & Status protection.  While Sentinels have blast powers and armor, their damage is lower then a blaster.

 

Melee's are fine for most part. Some stuff could use some tweaking. Like Kin Melee for example.  Also Tanks got a huge buff a year or so ago. Increased threat, Cones, AoE, PBAOE, dmg increase.

 

Brutes can raise their DPS through fighting, while Scrappers/Stalkers get Crits and what not.  Melee is doing fine, your just having dick envy over something you honestly don't understand.
