Have we been saying it wrong all this time?

The above is a tune from an album I've had for many years and play consistently because I love it so

And I always pronounced that track "Terp see cor"

And Manticore as "Man tea cor"

But apparently Terpsichore is pronounced "Terp Sick or ee"

So following that logic, should we not apply the same pronunciation to our game's richest bowman? It would be "Man tick or ee"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terpsichore

This is very much a first world issue but I am curious.

in the official CoV trailer at 0:45, Synapse says “got you man-tee-core, i’m all over it”

I have issues with how he says Synapse.

I guess my original point is that you can have things look the same and sound remarkably different and the only way you you can tell is by knowing.

There was an old woman from Slough
Who had a terrible cough
She hacked up some snot
and said "I feel grot
I hope I stop feeling so rough"

Terpsichore is Greek, while Manticore (I just found out) comes from Old Persian. So they wouldn't necessarily be pronounced the same. Although it would be funny if Manticore had a Greek arch-enemy who always called him "Man-tickory", just to get on his nerves.

If Croatia has giant monsters wandering around, it is coming off the visit list for when I visit Europe.

A name in the game I always wondered about is Unai Kemen... I always pronounced it OO-nigh KEE-men (if it had 2 m's it would be KEM-men).  Some say YOO-nigh or oo-NAY.

Living languages change language all the time/every day. And while there are past or present prescriptive rules used in various discourse communities, descriptive rules of discourse actually dictate most of those changes as well as their discourse community norms.

In other words, you're over thinking it and the typically accepted pronunciations are fine.
