I first noticed this current event the same way I noticed the Anniversary Event in 2024 for the first time: glowies scattered throughout the zone.  I asked in the Help channel and a player with the name "GM ?????" answered and assured me that no badges were lost in the making of this Event.

 

It lasts for the weekend and there are no badges for participating.  The devs specifically did this for players who couldn't login this weekend.  The event has a pirate-theme but I don't know the "official" name for it.

 

The only feature of this event I've seen so far is the scattered glowies.  FUN FACT!  The locations of the glowies correspond *exactly* to the Anniversary Event Time Capsules and the Winter Event Presents!  Yay!  You can get the "Winter Event Gift Maps" overlay from City Modder to help you find them:

Captain Bladehook triggers a notification on the applicable Zone channel!

 

On *all* of my toons, I set up a tab called "Zone" which has Hero/Villain/Praetorian Zone Event channels included.

 

All of this data presented here is subject to change for correctional purposes.

Yeah. I'm seeing the treasure chests around.

I know @DoctorDitko is going to go crazy over this one.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

* Sorry, no special badges for defeating the giant pirate or collecting chests.  International Talk Like A Pirate Day is a minor holiday . . . if it's even a holiday at all.  Maybe we can add more booty next year.

As mentioned in the OP, there are no badges.

 

The enemies that spawn are spectral pirates, not the same faction as any other ghosts but there is a badge for them.

 

There's also an AV that can spawn.  When he does a message will display on the zone events tab.

Erratum:

 

These particular Spectral Pirates, despite being in the faction "Spectral PIrates" do NOT give progress to the Pirate badge.  I guess that's a bug, who knows.

Taking out 100 ghosts to see if you get anything, will add here if I do.

As mentioned above, nothing happened. 

Also, spawning Bladehook seems to be on a timer that is account based per zone. Spawned him on one character, switched to another in the same zone (before counting ghosts) and now I have 5+ of each of the Legacy salvage drops.

Not exactly. The badge isn't awarded for kills - it's given for leading, teleporting, taunting or otherwise cajoling said ghosts into traps in Port Oakes.

...and it takes some patience to get hold of, since that's a much trickier job than just taking a Slaying Axe to where the neck should be... and you still need 100 off them. 😕

No, there are two different badges.  You're describing Spectral https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Spectral_Badge which is for trapping.

 

Pirate https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Pirate_Badge is for merely defeating.

Bladehook spawns like Winter Lord. After a number of Spectral Pirates from chests opened in zone, he will appear with a crew at next chest opened. ☠️ 🏴‍☠️

Nah.  Just naughty.  And earlier in General Chat, it was suggested that it badges get implemented for this next year, Pirate's Booty was my suggestion for one of them.  Someone else suggested Booty Seeker.
