Your Favourite Cut Scene

Some cut scenes in this game are amazing.

 

Some... lacking. 

 

There's a range, some are genuinely emotional, others just leave me at least, scratching my head and thinking double you tea eff. 

 

So which are your faves, more importantly why are they your fave? What do they do for you and how they make you feel?

 

I think for me, there are two standouts:

 

Raymond Keyes' final stand, giving PHamidon the big "what for" as he realises all his plans and dreams are up in smoke but he's not going to give it up without making sure plenty of folk remember him. That conveys power, emotion and the finale to a great arc. 

 

The other I like is the Frostfire where he talks about stuff not being simply black and white (and clobbers his mate who opens his mouth too soon)

 

My least fave, wtihout a doubt is where Calvin Scott confronts his wife Mother and she just says "oh we're not married, you're insane, next please!" Like what? A whole fricking expansion and that was the denouement? "Yep, you're crazy now toddle off I got better shit to deal with" was so heartbreakingly disatisfying. 

 

That and the Well of the Furies when the Menders are in the cave and they missed the bleedin' obvious.

This game has few cutscenes.  Thankfully.  Even in your own topic of “your fav” you could not help but mention some of the dreck.  And you dud not even scratch the surface of that deep pit…

Oh... in this game.  None.  They're all shit that was crammed in without any thought given to pacing or structure.  They're intrusive, frustrating and disruptive of the experience.  May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotches of the people who made them.

I decidedly like the one before fighting Dr. Geist in the finale of Dr. Creed's arc. Something genuinely funny about a mad scientist breaking out into standard mad scientist ranting only to get silenced by a grunt assisting him.

The cutscene that plays when you find Jenkins in the Breakout tutorial mission. It's so broken I can't help but laugh at it.

When Barracuda shows up during a task force and activates aggro on something off screen and runs away psi-blasting mid-dialog.

It is the constant movement of her cape ghat is disturbing.  They are in a building, not on a wind swept cliff.  How bad is her gas?

The Dr. Aeon cutscene from the Statesman/Ms. Liberty Task Force is pretty hilarious. Even better when you imagine Aeon has giant googly eyes instead of goggles.

 

The Romulus 'I! Am! NICTUS!' bit from the final ITF mission is a classic, both for 'player character dancing in the background' reasons and because of the giant chatbox text (RIP).

 

Much as I malign the writing choices of 'Who Will Die?' and despise Darrin Wade, Statesman's death cutscene at least treats the moment earnestly.

The best cutscene is the one in the Miss Liberty TF where Arbiter Sands shows up and monologues because if you're fast enough you can get your character behind his spawn and do the monkey dance emote and your character will show up in the cutscene.

Oh my! I tend to agree with the 1st part, but the fleas curse was quite descriptive (and troubling). 🙂

My favorite is the Romulus transformation cutscene during ITF, because some player always says something incredibly cheeky which shows up in the PCs chat bubble on-screen in the background.

That happens in many cut scenes. Probably the Lambda is the most obvious when Marauder does his braggart thing and then gets his arse handed to him. 

 

On live I didn't get the whole Romulus thing because the Nictus empowerment was off screen - it was really badly scripted and presented - it was like a Wizard Did It scenario. We didn't see the nictus itself empower Rommy it was just this huge beam of filth that transformed him from exit stage left pursued by a bear. 

 

The updated scene is a great improvement but my perception is always tainted by that fundamental failure to show, not tell.
