issue 27 Focused Feedback: Architect Entertainment
lemming replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Played around a bit more last night. As far as I can tell, the non-XP toward vet levels really targets those people that make alt accounts to farm emp merits quickly that are converted to other currency. I'm not sure how much of a problem that really is, and it does have some splash damage. As I said before, it's not going to affect me much, so I think today, I'm going to see if I can play with the customization stuff -
I've got a smattering of T4s (and some of those have multiple t4s). I think most get to a set of t4s by vet 20 or so unless I wind up moving some emps from another char, then earlier.

granted, not a full test suite or anything, but my farmer just picked up everything in a run except for XP. (Shard, Catalyst, Thread, influence, converter, yada yada) -
Someday...

I'm not sure why this change to no xp toward Vet levels in AE is needed. I don't think it will have any real impact on me though. -
The note about it is awesome.

Hard no to adding TP Foe to P2W. /stuckmob would be a nice addition Could be a check for stuckmobs within 50' and port them near player in an open spot with a nullify AOE effects in the spot it lands on. (So, no tripmines, oilk slicks, etc...) That being said, I've always been able to get someone out either by an AOE or just by going away for awhile

My Fire/Time blaster is one of my most fun chars, though I tend to melee for most of my chars, she's a ranged combatant. I doubt I am at max DPS or survivability, but well enough to scary enough to the mobs. (I haven't taken against any of the solo challenges that people do, because I get bored fighting AVs alone... I also decided to screw around with max speed on flight. It's nice having a character that hovers faster than a p2w flight power. 😄 (So there's a few slots that could be utilized better for some) Also, Pretty sure I swapped something for Experienced Marksman.

I had a few times where a nuke on a dumpstered zone would just freeze everyone's system, so I do think there were some technical reasons. Are they still there? That's a question for the devs. Now, if you can make it so the agro cap is still in existence while in a shared zone and have it removed in missions, I'd vote sure.
-
I believe the agro caps should stay because it was ridiculous when you could pull a zone into a dumpster. (I wouldn't mind slightly higher caps, but we do need caps, just for technical reasons) Now, you may have a point about all those missions that are now on timers that were being farmed. Most of them don't need to be anymore.

Just putting a place holder post to think about a plan to test this out. From what I remember, ticket caps are hit very easily, but I haven't done a comparison in ages. Not going to do a AFK test, but just run thru some scenarios

Oh, I do re-use some IOs. All those below 50 generics get stripped on respec and put in the new characters.
-
Same. I have quite a few chars that have a partial outfit with sets, but most of my chars wind up with at least generic 50 IOs so that I can break them out and play at any time. 97 50s, only around a dozen tuned to be extra buff, but everyone is playable. (except for a farmer that I did strip at the time to outfit one that was more fun to play for me)
-
That only works for those zones with Portals currently. The plan is to eventually have explore tips for all zones, but it is a bit of work, so those were the first zones done. (paraphrasing from the patch note discussion at the time) But yes, updated vid maps and the wiki all point correctly now. Though I've done my share of teleporting people to the badge for ease of discovery

The current crafting system is pointless.
lemming replied to Galactiman's topic in General Discussion
The only thing I dislike about current crafting is the oddness with Attuned/Boosted/Exemplar and PvP/Purple sets. It's needlessly complex. -
It's slow, but if you use Walk, you can escort while hidden. (Those stupid stairs still can screw things up)

iirc, a couple of the contacts won't let you just walk up to them at level 8,9,19,29. The hardest thing about doing the full Praetoria are the contacts that get taken out by choices during other arcs. I did find one trick that works for those missions that have you talk to a dead contact is that you use the Oro portal to start the missing contact's arc, port to them, then quit the arc. They'll stick around letting you talk to them. Of course, that once works once you hit level 14

I've played Stalkers thru Praetoria a few times (including one that was doing the Iron Challenge with no deaths) The ambushes can be annoying, but around 1/2 the ambushes wind up not agroing on you. They go right to you, but don't attack if you are stealthed or hidden. Currently playing a corrupter thru it. Just at level 7 right now. You want to follow this guide: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Apparition's_Complete_Guide_to_Praetoria

My favorite geekcred OS I used was Kodak's version of Unix. (Interactive which they bought, then sold to Sun)

Happily running CoH via Lutris/Wine on Linux. This is on a fairly beefy 2016 laptop. I'm in the midst of replacing it since it's showing it's age in some HW failures. (USB ports, Bluetooth, wifi are all flaking out, and the usual battery having zero life) One of my other laptops, a 2012 Dell used to have win7 and ran CoH ok. I've since converted it to Linux and there is a slight performance drop, so that one is just going to be my travel one. (For a ten year old laptop, it's in good shape)
