  1. I have too many characters of different types to really have a "set" way of doing things. It really depends on the character. I don't bother with purples for the most part. ATOs... sometimes, and then "eventually." I generally buy purples (via merit) when I have a bunch of catalysts sitting around - catalyze and toss on the market for a bit of INF. I don't generally bother with "builds." I throw in what looks interesting as it goes - sometimes that's just "eh, ST ranged, thunderstrike, ok," sometimes it's "wonder how many powers can take a stun" (electric's fun that way,) sometimes it's just something that only I will see that I find amusing (Feliney Assault, cat brute, has Mako's bite and the Leviathan pool because catgirl tossing fish around amuses me.)
  2. ... I don't need to read more. >.> "I told you not to run into that mob alone!" Ooh... can one of the items be a book? Is a slap upside the head part of the pool too?
  3. Yeah, I've got someone who could use a big, dangly, tacky pendant. (No, not kidding.) If the shoulder/neck detail can hang down some... might need chest details for the really tack... er, substantial ones. That said... being able to use something other than neck chains for necklaces would be nice. Things with actual pendants of various sorts, for instance (not just for dressing up, either) would be appreciated.
  4. Yeah, there are a *number* of issues with character positioning to actually "sit on" things. Other MMOs allow you to click on something and select "sit," but I shudder to think of the amount of work that'd have to be added to every seating surface in the game to do this (not to mention alignment for things in the base editor so you don't have three people sitting at a table facing each other and one staring at a wall.)
  5. I've got to agree with this. WIllpower's such a hands-off, don't-need-to-think-about-it set. I don't do "builds," I'm not perma-anything capped-anything (at least on purpose) and my WP characters are still exceptionally durable, to where I have to check the map and make sure I haven't split off at some point if I notice my teammates not around.
  6. Following someone with superjump when I'm on sprint... You are getting too far from your mentor. Your mentor is too far away! You are in range of your mentor. You are getting too far from your mentor. Your mentor is too far away! You are in range of your mentor. You are getting too far from your mentor. Your mentor is too far away! 7. *Recalls the Big Red Ball from forums past.*
  8. It surprises me when people seem to have just discovered how to do this. I hear people (especially melee) having trouble with Protean and it's like.... have you never tried this technique? He'll never get his PBAOE off since you're only in range for half a second...
  9. So, Spectrum's an ... interesting look, and can lead to interesting shadings. Still, after seeing a video where the lighting ... kind of reminded me of Spectrum, it also got me wondering if it'd be possible to do *patterns* that were also Spectrum-ized, even if it could only be used with Spectrum itself. ... that sort of look, where you've got zones where you could put in another color (or shadow) that wouldn't necessarily be colored that way by default. Yes, I'm thinking specifically on top of Spectrum itself... though if that could be brought over into normal patterns, that may be interesting as well.
  10. I pretty much always take a travel power. Rarely put it off - if nothing else, it's a "ok, don't really need to slot this, so extra slots early for some power." About the only power I skip is superspeed - thanks to early game annoyance with it and Terra Volta and the lack of vertical travel... even with the current "extra" tacked on. (Same goes with experimentation... speed of sound. The extra effect is actually extra annoying. I'll only take it if the character *really* calls for it.) As far as availability of other powers... rarely does that influence me. I'll take those pools *despite* the travel power sometimes - primarily for combat teleport and/or fold space (Teleport Target is always useful.) (And since it was mentioned, I rarely take hasten. Maybe as a 49 "I have nothing else I need" pick.) Group powers... I've said before, and somehow this seems to just get any number of panties in a twist, that we should have Null in coop zones. MSRs and Hami raids fill quickly, at least on Everlasting, and leaving to hit Pocket D to turn off Group Fly if you've forgotten to may mean you don't get back *in* the zone for a while, if at all. But I don't generally mind group travel powers, otherwise... other than Incandescence.
  11. Not sure if still valid, but I *vaguely* recall extra damage or some such for a stalker's AS on a held target at one point.
  12. *snort* I remember beta when everyone looking at the market was *sure* Boresight was going to make them rich on the market. Yeah... no.
  13. Starting back in i3... First character, got him into the hollows. Don't recall what mission I was trying to get him to, but suddenly seeing this giant, floating skeletal thing conning purple. Seemed like something I should *really* avoid (having not fought COT at the time...) Also, on a different character (the one who'd be my first 50,) doing missions with a team in the Hollows and seeing this white floating thing come out of the door and fly off... hooked on Kheldians since.
  14. Eh. I mean, they *are* looking for a group. And I suspect all that a "farm" channel would do - besides cause griping - is cause messages to be duplicated in there *and* in LFG. Even as an "official" channel, it may not populate for people with older characters (such as the people *doing* the farming) where they're looking or trying to advertise. And we already have people uptight and complaining if anyone says *anything* that's not directly "We are doing these missions and have room for X" in LFG. I'd rather not see them fill the channel with so much whine it's mistaken for France.
  15. I don't perma-dom at all and have never found it "pretty brutal" on any dom.
  16. ... well. 15 minutes of waiting, posting this, deciding to head to Eden (because I need my costumes...) Stop to punch some COT mages and one finally showed up. First time I've actually seen an ambush for that mission.
  17. So, here's a question: Does Carson in Founders Falls actually *spawn* an ambush like the other tailors? Idle curiosity thing. I know the first two tailors spawn ambushes (Tsoo and Crey, specificially.) Hard to miss the first one since they spawn fairly close by and - for an ambush - fairly fast. The IP one can take a bit to arrive, especially since there aren't any Crey in IP so I suspect most folks are already on their way to Bricks or wherever to start punching in the name of science. For Founders Falls - well, I don't think I've *ever* gotten a Nemesis ambush. Even on live. So I grabbed the FF costume mission (because... costumes,) went across the street and just ... waited. (I have nothing better to do, so including the time to write this up, I'm at around 15 minutes.) Just out of idle curiosity to see if there WAS one. If there was an ambush - even slow and swimming - it should have reached me. So... doesn't appear to be one. The other ambushes don't get targeted by anything, so I don't think it's "something else killed them on the way." And I'm literally the oly person IN Founders at the moment, so it's highly unlikely someONE else killed them (ambushes will also tend to be at your level, not the zone's or zone cap, and the character I'm on is 46.) Is there something that just prevents an ambush from forming? Are they falling down below the map because of ancient spawn point weirdness? Do they just not GET one? Nemesis definitely *spawn* in FF - there are Comet tir... tiral... tiramisu snipers, after all. (Or are they the only thing allowed to spawn, perhaps? Which, yes, is part of why I was here - a mention that "snipers don't move," which I had to double check my own memory of - and no, they don't, even taunted. So yay.) Or do they just not spawn because Eden's chock full of them and one nearby zone transfer away? Idle curiosity.
  18. Let's just necro this damn thread since that seems to be the thing to do! Woooooo! This just adds SO MUCH VALUE to the forum!
  19. Yes, this thread was SO IMPORTANT it had to be necroed THREE YEARS AFTER THE LAST REPLY.
  20. Eh.... maybe? On the other hand, you could just take Teleport Target instead of Confront... which would also open up things like combat teleport and fold space.
  21. Ice armor sents still have hoarfrost, though.
  22. If you're trying to slot a set, and that set's pieces include recharge/something, it'll let you slot it because of the /something that it *can* take (rech/end, rech/acc, rech/def.) The other half (or 2/3 or 3/4) of that IO is valid, so it takes it. That said, hopping to test to take a look. Edit: Nope, description itself says "Allowed enhancements: Enhanced Recharge Speed, Enhanced Heal," and it does take a plain old recharge SO. This should probably be in "bug reports" though 🙂 Messaged to request a move over there.
  23. Hmmm. none of mine are less than 132 days unplayed - probably an anniversary badge login or some such. That said, I'm an RPer. I have characters who are around *just* for the occasional need of somebody's parent, sibling or boss, or their other-dimensional self (such as one from a dimension whose politics are decided by wrestling) who pokes in every once in a while to push a story or just check in and add some silliness. So they will sit unplayed. I've got a few that are just characters I loved from live, but they don't get played much because their stories were finished, or they were so tied to people who aren't *here* and aren't *coming* here for whatever reason that playing them's just sort of empty without the rest of the squad. Sort of memorial characters. I've got one that's in that boat that, thanks to the electric blast and leveling changes, feels *wrong* and puts me off of playing her. Given she's a remake of my first 50, and is/was in a "classic play" type project SG (taking a pool and some powers to simulate fitness, not slotting it 'til then, using just TO/DO/SOs) it bothers me. They all vary in levels, from the single digits to 50. And I rarely delete a character, so... I see no reason to most of the time. I've had the "this just doesn't click with me" turn into "NOW it does!" months or even years later often enough on live, and with 1000 slots per account... they can sit.
  24. I'll say Sky Raiders *kind of* make sense, to me. It's a port, it's remote, having a base there to operate from kind of makes sense. Same reason the Family make sense to be there. The BP, though... yeah. There's just no link there. Sure, there's a graveyard. And? It just feels like they were put there because that's the range of enemies that are there. They made sense in (old) Dark Astoria (also in the same level range.) It had the background that would have attracted them. The missions with them just feel shoehorned in.
  25. The letters end up being from the Dream Doctor, if I'm remembering correctly. He refers to them directly at one point - I don't recall the exact line, but it's something like "the time for letters is past" in one of his speeches. (Somewhere in the DA arcs, I'm fairly sure.)
