  1. I don't worry about what others are or aren't playing. *shrug* If there's something I *really* want to run, I hop on discord with my friends and say "Hey, guys, who wants to run the Commander Carrot TF?" or whatever, we arrange a time and do it. Honestly, most of the "content" I run now is RP related. The dev team simply cannot put out content fast enough to not have it added to the "ok, seen it, ran it a bunch" pile and run out again. Which is not a complaint about the dev team - the live team couldn't, either, and they were getting paid for it. And even if they somehow could - if we got a new mission arc or TF every week at maintenance - I think I'd still be focused more on my own characters' stories. (What do I wish existed? Blood of the Black Stream. And stepping out to more of the world, officially.)
  2. Very much this. They need to make some change so that every bit of text that the team lead sees can also be seen by anyone they're teaming with, like a Clue drop or a big ol' text box that shows up on screen (although I'm not a huge fan of those; even with my new much wider screen they always post up under my map or a Pet window or something). So, while it doesn't share some of the clues (as I recall...) if you're looking for a lot of the mission text, contact exposition, etc? Hit the "i" in the red shape in the nav bar. (Yellow if it's not actually *active,* but that tends to just be for your own missions.) You'll get the contact text, in both regular missions/TFs and AE.
  3. *Did* we though? I mean, early on, running 1-50 you didn't have any interaction with him 'til you rescued him from the Praetorians in the hero's hero arc. He was a name, sure, but he was about as involved with you as Talos is. He was basically lore, mentioned in a few places but never seen. Sister Psyche getitng killed off had more of an impact (... granted, in part because of the "Really? You couldn't find another way?" of how it was done.) At least you'd seen and interacted with her. I mean, *VEATs* had more interaction with Statesman (in the getting-punched-in-the-face variety, granted) than heroes did for quite a while. Honestly, rescuing him and the Who Will Die arc's ending, would have had more impact if he were more than a COH History quiz question. Have him show up, "Oh, I hear we have a new hero!" in the tutorial. At least have to give him some information if not fight with him or do *something* for him partway through the game. Otherwise... yeah, he just existed as lore comments, pretty much, 'til the end of *one* arc for a long time.
  4. Why would I *not* pick it? That seems a bit ridiculous, honestly. "This model is broken with that power." "Don't take that power then!" ... no. If it's a choice between weapon model but having to skip useful powers to make it "work" or not having that weapon model - I'll do without the weapon model. Besides, I'd think it'd also look rather silly with Flamethrower and Ignite/Incinerate. Not skipping those either. Now, if you want to argue for a chain gun powerset, with actually appropriate powers? All for it. Open up some more concepts. But "this looks weird with 1/3 of the set" (possibly more) ... no thanks.
  5. As I'm recalling, no. PVP vendor stuff is usable in PVP zones/arenas.
  6. Eh. I have Disney+, for me it's nothing to do with that. For me it's partially "... another one," partially less just accepting "It'll be a good movie" by default after the mess that was the Eternals - I still say that would've been *much* better as a TV series instead of this "Here's 30000 characters you don't get more than two minutes to get to know, care about them and be surprised at what we do in the next two hours, please?" we got, and just ... yeah, getting too big, I think. I mean, really the only "multiverse" stuff I'm loving is the Spider-man stuff. It just seems to feel more focused on a character level versus "Big bad - bigger bad - ooh, super multiversal big bad." Plus the whole "We have this movie, which is half a movie and half a setup/commercial for the next one" which some of the latest movies have felt like. Mixed, to a point, with "You've seen the Disney+ series, right?" (Would Dr. Strange 2 have made much sense without seeing Wandavision?) Plus-plus, the whole Covid thing probably threw off a lot of "go see a movie" people had, still. My local theater, for instance, used to have movies starting early (9-10ish) - which I liked, since it gave the rest of the day to do things as well (given... long-ass movies.) Now, given they start later, it feels more like it cuts the day in half awkwardly. As far as the movie? Enough people have said they enjoyed it (people I *know and like,* not critics) I'll probably see it later this week.
  7. Meh to invasions and GMs. They're just not interesting. As far as the clock thing? Not all of the *US* even does the DST shuffle twice a year. Since they're player led events, the organizers are the ones responsible for mentioning it.
  8. Super Stunners' rez being autohit makes sense. They're dead. At that point they have zero accuracy. Besides. Everyone has access to a ranged KB power through the P2W vendor. While MMs are a pain with the pets with this... call them back, knock the stunner away (or hold/immob and back off,) kill from range - no rez. It's not an unlimited range autohit.
  9. Ugh. No, no, no and no, thanks. Especially with AI doing them. Just no. Besides, I already have years of "voices" in my head, having some AI generated, stunted, weird thing would just be ... no.
  10. Rgh. Hate the way that looks (and it makes me want to avoid dealing with Council thanks to war wolves getting this,) but as an option, sure. Just downvoting the "pay a million inf." If someone's got a concept that needs it, they should be able to access it like any other customization.
  11. You may want to use binds for more - so you just have to /bindloadfile on a new alt - or maybe look into popmenus or a custom window. Should be a guide on that - I have a menu set up with a variety of bases, for instance. (Will link if i can find said guide...) Edit : Here's one.
  12. And one to set your hat on fire. *nods*
  13. The devs were afraid to put one in. Why else? 🙂 But, yeah. Wouldn't argue against it on its own. Would prefer some more interesting bonuses though, rather than people grabbing it up to the point of getting *yet more* global recharge.
  14. Most of the GMs are, frankly, boring. They're just bigger bags of hit points it takes maybe a solid minute for a team to finish off instead of a few seconds. There's not a lot *interesting* about them. (I don't really put Hamidon in that category, but ... still kind of true.) I wish there were more to them. There are a few that give a bit of flavor - Scrapyard and the scrapyarders come to mind. That at least makes it interesting... but not interesting enough to consider it more than six merits after doing it the first time. Jack and Eochai have a bit of lore to them too, but... again, just big bags of HP that give merits. Lusca - who should be worth more merits - is at least an *encounter* that takes time to do. (The flip side, Adamastor should either be worth fewer - I think what his bonus is a hangover from is having to actually earn something to summon him, which is no longer the case - or there should be more to him.) The Council Goliath is also an *encounter,* at least - there's something to do to get to the chewy gooey center of 6 merits on that one. Babbage and the Kronos Titan (sounds like an ... odd band) at least have a little "special" to them from being part of task forces, though Babbage can be found wandering about in Boomtown as well. And the Halloween banner event at least - again - has you doing something to bring it out, and *then* track it down. But honestly? When I see people say "ooh, I want a GM in THIS zone too, and THIS one!" I just kind of groan because... they're *just not interesting.* Maybe if they *weren't* out as frequently they'd be more interesting, but it's almost "hourly monster teams" with not much work (other than getting the team together and a little looking at known spawn points in the zones) for a pile of merits. If I were designing a GM encounter from scratch? I don't know. I'd do more than plop a six merit pile of HP in a zone. Maybe something that requires the team/league to split up. Maybe they have to defeat minions of the GM to get pieces of a ritual to put together - and use the *right* pieces - to weaken the GM and/or strengthen the players. Add some sort of strategy to it. I honestly couldn't lay out a design right now for one. I'd just want it to be an *encounter,* an *event,* instead of a merit vending machine.
  15. Given the Voids definitely can, per comments in the Kheld arcs, it's not wildly out of spec to think there's some indicator on the weapon tuned to Kheldian energy. Not mentioned lore-wise (in fact, non-Council Quantum guns are supposed to be somewhat unreliable,) but not unreasonable.
  16. It was also when they implemented NPCs fighting each other *and actually doing damage* instead of just shadowboxing. That's mostly what I remember from the beta.
  17. ... sort of side discussion aside... The main issue I could see with the OP's idea is if the mission happens to be a kill all. Putting enemies in an unreachable room would kind of put a damper on that. Granted, it would also make others much easier ("Do not defeat patrol!" ... patrol spawns with a Quantum whatever, who's ported away, making said patrol impossible to defeat.) But I could see it causing more issues to weed out over quite some time than not.
  18. Yes, it's six months away. But next year's anniversary is COH's 20th. I think we should have more than just a badge for it, don't you? (And 25th, really. Quarter century of COH and all.) Now, *what* I don't know. But this should be a big one - which means it'd need time to do. Being able to see the end-of-beta event, possibly, even if just in Ouro (I know how tired people can get of invasions, after all.) Even if it's just a "close as we could get" thing. Release a special costume? What should be done for the big 140? (Dogs like COH too, after all...) ... and how many of us just went "20... damn, I'm old?"
  19. It's not that hard, honestly, though some things are really dicy if you're on a lower spec "server" (I can run around zones just fine, base editing is right out. I've been tempted to build a beefier machine for hosting my own for it.) However, setting up itself is *really* not hard. You won't, as I recall, get any of the new-new stuff we've gotten here (unless they've updated the contents of the download,) but - from memory - you have options for "Issue 24" (as it was on shutdown) and "Issue 25" (the way Homecoming was on start, with some of the SCORE changes, Sentinels, etc.) It's been made extremely easy to set up, and the instructions and wiki are fairly easy to follow (even for non-computer folks) - they may look daunting, but it's a "take it a step at a time" process. Now, tweaking, editing, sharing it for others? Yeah, there's a little more complexity there. But "I just want to be 50 and run around on my own" - yeah, setting up your own server and admin-commanding your way to glory is not that hard to do 🙂
  20. Remember, the "Epic AT" is more than just creating an AT - it's diving in and focusing on some specific part of the lore. Personally I'd start with finally bringing out the Blood of the Black Stream, and everything related to them. Second, and probably the easiest, I'd create a redside Nictus path with a few power changes from Warshade, primarily to explore that side of the Kheldian war lore.
  21. ... Assuming they're on your league, not just hanging there with pets attacking everything. We've had GMs come on and say flat out, no, that's not allowed.... funny how fast they get to clicking (for a little while.)
  22. I think Roleplay is what keeps me in COH. It's not doing X mission for the thousandth time - though we'll often use that as the basis *of* something and RP through it to use it for something vastly different. Experience - Generally good. Like any community, there are a few asshats. *shrug* Some people have had worse experiences, with people trying to pull BS on them long term, be abusive and the like - but I've got to say, going since live, I've only run into a couple, heard about a couple of others (and kept in mind that was hearsay.) The majority of people I've found run the gamut from "eh, ok" to RL friends I'd open my door to (and apologize for the mess) in an instant. Welcoming - I've been in it so long it's hard to say. I know we try to be. I've invited people along who were just standing on the fringes when we do, say, an RP centric AE that doesn't really need a lot of backstory. I've had people tell me it's daunting trying to get started when everyone has these exceptionally long back histories, backstories, ongoing arcs, etc. - but, generally, there's no "required reading." Flip side is, there's a lot of friend-of-friend-oh-hi-come-along introductions, too, which makes it much easier. Resources - I know @Crystal Dragon was running "Intro to RP" stuff for a while, along with some others. Other than that, I really don't know - really, though, it's mostly a matter of how you interact with others. Stories - Oh lord. If I went into all of the various stories, both group and individual (as in "this is my character and why they do this,") I'd be typing for weeks. Major ones involve someone running a shadow organization which, among other things such as arms dealing (his specialty) is involved in cloning - in part to be able to sell a disposable, deniable army to use those weapons on request, in part to use them for research, and some just to sell to whoever wants them for whatever (or to provide children/loved ones to use to gather information and/or for blackmail of people in power - the whole "You will make this into law, you wouldn't want something to *happen* would you" schtick.) Some of the clones have been freed, work on freeing others and (now) have allies, but there's a lot of digging to do to get to him. Alternately, a different designer drug being on the streets which, depending on the "kicker," can have different effects, using the young, partygoing population as unwitting test subjects. Quite a bit branches off from those, for starters. Changing roleplay - Honestly, it'd be "more of more of more of." More emotes. Better interaction with the environment. Smaller hit boxes. Being able to sit and be sat down on something instead of hovering somewhere over a table, for instance. Just more for our characters to do. Play musical instruments, for instance. Synchronize some emotes.
  23. Going from the screenshot, yeah.
  24. ... never said you were, not sure how you got that this was any sort of disagreement or argument.
  25. *nod* AT search is already there, but yeah, a revamp of the character screen with more search and sort options in general would be nice.
