Especially since they added the option for asymmetrical gloves, this option would be great. My only gripe is that we don't have enough "beefy" gauntlet/bracer options atm. This could be tough as I don't think the symbols/emblems scale, and if that is the case, it'd still be nice to have more options, (you just may not be able to use symbols on shields below a certain size). Definitely. Even if it is "technically" wrong to have a shield oriented a certain way, I'm sure folks could RP a reason why your character wields it like that...

Check out savage melee. One of my favorite melee sets for tankers - the recharge and end discount from blood frenzy stacks are really nice, and you can easily avoid consuming the stacks if you don't want to lose the benefits. Savage leap is a fairly quick recharging self teleport + AoE that is also nice for maneuverability or to open fights with.

What does it mean to be Level 50 versus Incarnate?
biostem replied to UltraAlt's topic in General Discussion
sigh... how many people follow the nuances of communication and all the meandering directions a conversation can take. Few. -
Depending upon the rate of drain, I suppose this could work, or it would just be ignored entirely.

I realize this was most likely meant tongue-in-cheek, but people would just send inf to an alt, or just leave it sitting in an email, then transfer it back when done.

What does it mean to be Level 50 versus Incarnate?

I don't disagree that several sets are very end-unfriendly. That being said, there are ways to mitigate the issue, (some obviously being more or less preferable to permanent to others). -
Move endurance reduction enhancements to schedule C or D

Yes, so? I think endurance reduction enhancements could benefit from more bang for your buck, hence the suggestion. What is or is not in each category currently isn't really of concern in this context. -

They are A. -
Already took aid other & self. Will probably take field medic eventually as well. Thanks!

That my very well be the case, although my protector bots do apply their shields to my character in addition to the other bots. I'll have to recheck the text for those powers, though...

People are averse to slotting end redux in everything. They'd rather look to "meta-fixes" such as cardiac or IOs that grant additional recovery/end. -
Then what you'll see is people being PL'd via PI radios or other such content, then moving to AE. You're not really solving the "problem", you're just adding an additional step...

If you were going run PI radios a lot. What build would you use?
biostem replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
If I am the one running a team, I've had the best results, against any enemy type, when using a tanker. If we're assuming you're just going to take the whatever missions come up, then I'd recommend something with end drain resistance. I've had the best results with my radiation armor/savage melee tanker. I've led such teams with other ATs, but if there's going to be low level characters with you, you'll probably want to be able to hold aggo, and ground zero works great as a pinch PBAoE heal. -
I mean, it might be something some people use if they have other characters that are loaded, but it probably won't be touched by folks that don't have that kind of inf to spare. Still, I suppose more options are better...

I rolled the character and got them up to about level 33 or so. I still have to fully them them out, but seems pretty good so far. What I didn't realize, however, is that the leadership bonuses from the enforcers only affects the other thugs, which seems weird. Disruption field is also an end hog - probably gonna double-slot for end redux or otherwise use it sparingly. Anyway, the experiment continues!

So I am considering yet another alt, and having gotten ninja, bots, mercs, and zombies to 50 or very close, I'm considering something a little more "selfish". To that end, I'm thinking of thugs/sonic, for the -res effects, status protection, and +res to myself and my minions. Does anyone have any experience with or advice for this combination? Thanks in advance!

So you can take whatever you like from the base Widow primary and secondary, but once you pick a power from the Fortunata or Night Widow sets, it locks out the other. To put it another way, you could be Widow only, Widow + Fortunata, or Widow + Night Widow, but NOT both Fortunata & Night Widow. Hope that helps.

There's going to be a need for vagueness due to differences in perception or how the game may change over time. For instance, let's say the rule was you couldn't do 2 of the following: name, costume, powers. What you might end up with is someone making a SS/invuln brute named "Hulk", except they have blue shorts instead of purple ones. Now they can argue that they didn't copy the costume, so they're good. I'm not a fan of the uncertainty, but it also seems most folks don't run up against this problem...

That's part of it. Another is convenience and other QoL stuff. For instance, having to hunt around a big map for a glowie can be really frustrating. They added the reveal of the last one some time ago, but a general mechanic that reveals them as you defeat enemies or if any should simply appear in your field of vision would be a big help. Maybe trimming down some of the kill-all or multi-zone arcs would help as well...

There is definitely a curve regarding how long people are willing to work toward unlocking something in-game. For instance, I didn't realize at first that you could use threads to progress your Alpha slot ability, and on my first incarnate, it was frustratingly slow-going, and when I finally got to T3, I all but gave up. It's also why I almost never bother looking at the T9 of my primary, as it'll probably be the least used ability, and if the rest of the set is "meh", then I'm not gonna put in the time, (excepting things like MM T9s or controller pets).

I've run into 2 situations where this happens: 1. An incarnate ability is still recharging, in which case, you can simply view its recharge time in the power tray. 2. You are in combat or in an instance that flags you as in combat, and must leave said instance. I could be wrong, but I believe there is some back-end reason why being in certain instances flags you as in combat simply because your teammates are...

Toggles that affect enemies exhibit this behavior. Beta Decay from radiation armor also does this if you get mezzed. That being said, I believe a toggle rework is in the upcoming patch that addresses this...

Been there. I find it a hassle to respec, and will often stick with a build if it's "good enough". Having gotten into the IO/set-bonus "meta game" only recently in my time playing CoH, this adds yet another layer of complexity to consider; A power may not be that useful on its own, but if it can accept some great procs or a particular set bonus I'm after, it bears consideration. TBH, I lean more toward thematic builds, but will generally devote 1 of my builds to a higher-performance build...
