  1. Oh look, another strawman. Who said "without the secondary"? My contention with you is that a blaster's secondary isn't a "ranged damage set". If you ignore all the melee/PBAoE powers in your secondary, then yes, you will deal reduced damage, (when compared to someone who does take full advantage of it).
  2. See my point about using your PRIMARY for that purpose. Get it through your head: A blaster's secondary set is not there for dealing ranged damage. You are chasing a wild goose, looking for a red herring, hunting a snipe...
  3. Point taken. Well, if it were just a toggle, I feel it wouldn't have the kind of gravitas that I'm looking for; Perhaps that could be the AT's inherent - a divine blessing of sorts, which adds the chosen deity's element as extra damage, plus a chance for an elemental strike/eruption with each attack...
  4. To which I replied that it is the PRIMARY that deals the ranged damage. If you are looking for ranged damage in the secondary, then you are looking in the wrong place. Also, saying "there's plenty of ranged damage" and "there's really nothing for people that want damage at ranged" are contradictory - which is it? Is there "plenty of ranged damage" or is there "really nothing for people that want to damage at range"?
  5. Then address my points: 1. You said blaster secondaries were "ranged damage". 2. Your criteria for #1 is that 2/9 powers on 1 particular secondary set have *some* kind of range. 1 and 2 do not gel, whether speaking statistically or functionally. You are wrong. Admit it and let's move on with the conversation.
  6. OP, I understand your frustration, but then I have to ask - what is the official policy, regarding what can or cannot be done in the help channel? If there isn't one, (besides the general rules of conduct), then all you can do is hide the channel or deal with it.
  7. Yeah, I think you've lost the plot several posts back; Your criteria for deeming a blasters' secondary set "ranged damage" is out of whack, and instead of owning up to your mischaracterization thereof, you falsely claim to know your opponent's intentions and throwing out passive-aggressive insults.
  8. I've played several sentinel builds, and the main problems I've run into is that the secondaries kind of reduce the need you feel to keep moving and/or "kite" enemies, but at the same time, the enemy AI tends to like to run right up to you and smack you in the face, and you often end up just firing off your ranged attacks at point blank range. In that kind of scenario, you might as well just play a melee AT who can do that better.
  9. I do not consider the secondaries *just* melee. I consider most of them to be a combination of melee and support/utility. So please, continue to strawman me and keep the salt coming!
  10. I have to ask, do you consider 2/9 powers enough to consider an entire set "ranged"?
  11. The only word of caution I would give you is to run a thorough antivirus and antispyware scan on the machine before entering any sensitive information and/or completely wipe then reinstall the OS, just in case there are any viruses or spyware on there...
  12. Subdual is an immobilize. Sure, it deals some damage, but that's not its primary purpose. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but IIRC, psychic scream is like a 40' 45 degree cone - only 1/2 to 2/3 of your blast attacks. Even if it were the full 80', that's only 2/9 powers, and that makes it "ranged damage" to you?
  13. We're talking about blasters here, yes? Your PRIMARY set is where your RANGED damage comes from. Your SECONDARY set consists of utility powers and/or melee attacks. Give me a few examples that give "plenty of ranged damage", because I honestly don't see that...
  14. Your primary is where the ranged damage comes from. The secondary is to support or supplement that; Immobilizes, melee attacks, self buffs, other debuffs or utility powers. Some like tactical arrow or devices lean more toward the debuff/utility side of things.
  15. If we're going with this notion of an "Olympian EAT", then what I'd like to see is basically a variation of superstrength, only instead of any sort of rage mechanic, your melee attacks become charged with different elements, and you gain associated ranged attacks. Figure something like this: The "base" form is that of a demigod. You *only* have superstrength-like attacks any maybe a boulder throw. Then you pick which god you're going to follow; Zeus grants lightning, Prometheus grants fire, Poseidon grants water/ice, and Hades grants darkness. Your base form simply has s/l-type resistances, and you gain additional ones befitting your chosen deity. The inherent could be something like "inspirational", which grants a buff to allies near you, (sort of like a MM's supremacy). If that's too generic, maybe something like "god's wrath", where you either build up a meter to unleash a devastating attack of your deity or can otherwise channel their power for a short duration. Maybe just grant each attack a chance to cause a lightning strike/fire burst/etc.
  16. You can always choose the "minimal FX" option for bio armor, so you aren't stuck with the big growths/coverings.
  17. Can you elaborate upon how this would differ from simply rolling one of the melee ATs. Could you clearly lay out an example of their primary and/or secondary. Cheers!
  18. Personally, I find gravity extremely easy and satisfying to use, but it is a fairly early blooming set, (except for wormhole and singularity, which come later). You can trigger containment easily, and it's a fairly trivial matter to get a good attack chain going. Darkness takes a little longer to come into its own, but you do get a confuse and lots of softer controls a la tohit debuffs and fear. Dark gets a pair of temporary pets pretty early on, and they're nice to have, (though not immensely damaging IMO).
  19. That is an excellent point! If it doesn't run acceptibly, then perhaps spend your money elsewhere...
  20. I did some searching, and the closest I could find was a "tweed" pattern for certain blazers:
  21. Or... now hear me out here, CO just isn't that good of a game. Maybe, just maybe, all those people pointing out those flaws, were right. But, no... you're "telling history" because you obviously know so much better than everyone else. *rolls eyes*
  22. If gaming is your passion, but money isn't plentiful, take and work with what you got or can get.
  23. Hmm... Maybe something under the jacket category? I'll take a look if there's something similar available to us. Thanks!
  24. You are dead wrong about me; I bought a lifetime subscription to CO before it launched. I played the hell out of the game, with dozens of characters at max level using all the different sets and trying out different RP concepts or just seeing what combinations worked or didn't. It became readily apparent that certain passives are just better than others, and certain powers where best for general use - Use a self targeting bind and cast the best buffs on yourself, then proceed to obliterate all that stand in your way. Sure, I could play my thematic shapeshifter who is gimped because I've taken powers from different sets that don't synergize well, and I'm locked into the same energy builder, but she's fun to play in short stints. The point is that limitations can frequently spur one on to come up with different tactics or approaches to each encounter, ('necessity is the mother of invention' and all that).
  25. No, what you end up with in CO, for those players with access to freeform, is a bunch of fully self-sufficient tank-mages, who don't need anyone else and who can do everything perfectly. Imagine Justice League if everyone was a Kryptonian or Avengers if everyone could do it all. I'm not in favor of the "holy trinity" per se - just that you shouldn't be able to do it all.
