I have a WP/Staff and a Rad/Staff. Both are fun, and both are nigh unkillable. The Rad does more damage due to Rad Therapy and Ground Zero, and the -resistance from Beta Decay. They're both fun, but I like my WP more. It might be, however, due to the fact that I wanted more of a "natural" toon, and kinda like not having any hit any buttons to stay alive.

I simply can NOT get into Titan Weapons. It's just so freakin slow. I'm sure Invuln is great, but I can't get into it either. As far as tank primaries, I love WP, Rad, Bio, and Dark. And you're welcome. Hope my build gave you some ideas.

Thanks for taking time to read and hopefully offer some advice/input. As the title says, I'm not used to playing Blasters....I mainly play Tanks. I have, however, played Dual Pistols on a Defender and a Sent, and really like the concept, animations, etc. It seems to me that DP/Martial would be a nice little pairing. Use Speed of Sound to rush in, fire off Hail of Bullets, Dragon's Tail, Eagle's Claw, Speed of Sound, then hop out and mop up with Bullet Rain, Piercing, etc. I'm also used to shooting for soft capped defenses. Am I off base here? How does this look? Thank you for any and all feedback/advice/input! Here ya go. With Bio, keep in mind that your Resistances will kinda stink, but you can soft cap most of your typed defenses. Plus, with Ablative, DNA Siphon, and Parasitic Aura, you can stand up to most anything thrown at you. I've really gotten into my WP/Staff Tank. I like the extra range and # of targets that Tanks can hit. Plus, it's a welcome change of pace not having to click on your heals...WP is a nice "set and forget" powerset. I've not really played Psionic. How is it? The confuse power seems like it would help out resistance based sets and WP more (gives time to regen). Is that the case? And I'm sure it only reliably affects minions and maybe the occasional Lt? And Mass Levitate, with it's knock up too. Given that later on you run into more Psi resistance, has that hampered your "arresting" ability? I've thought about giving it a shot. I'd probably pair it with Elec,Dark, or WP.
-
How important is it to shoot for Defense on a MM?
-
I've tried numerous times to really like Necro. I've tried it with Thermal and Dark. I really like Dark (love my Dark/Dual Pistol Defender), but for the life of me, I just can't get that satisfaction like everyone else says comes with playing Necro/Dark. So...what's some ideas as far as slotting goes? I am going for Intuition as my Alpha to capitalize on damage and to hit debuffs. Appreciate any thoughts and advice.

Which Full Theme primary/secondary set would you enjoy the most?
Xandyr replied to ninja surprise's topic in Tanker
I just recently made an ice/ice. In mid's it looks like I'll have soft capped defenses to S/L/E/N.E/F/C. Can't remember what the resists were, bit I'm not counting on them being anything great to write home about. I really just made it to be a novelty toon (aka Santa). We'll see. I've NEVER done same/same before. -
When you said "Viking lore", my first thought was WP, followed awfully close by Ice Armor.
-
Thats what we ended up doing
-
Yes, Rad is resistance.
-
I played a Rad/Staff and a Rad/Electric. Both are fun and durable. I personally love Staff. On a Tank, you hit EVERYTHING. I stay in Form of the Body. With 3 levels of perfection, you can use Sky Splitter and get a boost to your resistances. Or use Eye Of The Storm and lower enemies' resistance. Innocuous Strikes is awesome with the Armageddon proc. It hits regularly. Being Rad,you get 2 more PBAoE attacks (Rad Therapy and Ground Zero)...and you become an AoE God.

So, I've been playing my WP/Staff tank, and wanted to get some of the Accolades. I broadcast and sent message in the "Help" channel if anyone was working on the Fake Nemesis badge. A brute by the name of "YetAnotherBrute" sent me a tell, and we teamed. A few hours later, and lots of fun and laughs, I ended up with not only the Freedom Phalanx Accolade, but also with Portal Jockey and a few other badges. This was a great reminder of how awesome this community was, and still is. A complete stranger offering help to another complete stranger to acquire some badges and accolades. Yet another reason why I love this game. Cheers!

I did use one set of the Superior Might of the Tanker...imo that set is just too good to pass up. I also used some LotG, some procs, but tried to stay away from any other purple or PvP sets. This build gives you soft capped F/C/E/N.E defenses, capped S/L Resistance (with 1 application of the SMotT proc), and a regeneration rate of 91.31 HP/Sec with one mob in range of RttC. Maybe you can use this as an idea? On my WP/Staff I spent some ludicrous money...but I wanted to get that toon as indestructible as I could (especially since it's about the only tank I've played in a while). As far as Incarnates, that's obviously personal preference. I will say that for my Alpha, I tried Vigor (adding even more Regeneration), then I tried Musculature. I think I like Musculature more. The added damage helps, and the -to hit debuff stacks with RttC. Do I miss saying I am regenerating at 178 HP/sec? Yeah. Do I still survive on a "measly" 157 HP/Sec? Absolutely. Either way, have fun with it. I've found WP to be a VERY nice Powerset. It's kinda hard to be "cheap" anymore. Especially since the Tanker IOs, and Winter sets, give such great bonuses. I'm playing a WP/Staff tank and I REALLY like him. I skipped Resurgence and Strenfth of Will. Try to slot at least 2 or 3 Numina's in all your healing powers (+12% Regen, 3 pieces also give you +35HP). I was able to soft cap Fire/Cold/Energy/Negative Energy defenses, and about 88% Smash/Lethal resistance on my WP/Staff. A fully slotted RttC gives me about 160 HP/Sec. Hard to die with those kind of numbers. I'll be jumping on my PC later, and I'll play around in mids for "good, cheap" build.

I have a demons/EA. And yes, it is tanky. Very tanky and sturdy. I also have a necro/Thermal. It actually is a good powerset. I just hate the explosion of sound when you zone with necro. That's pretty much the reason I've given up on Necro. Isn't there a way to adjust sounds (and not just overall volume)? When you zone with Necro, the game plays the sound for all your summons at the same time, and it's annoying and loud. I still think mercs/pain and beast/time are my 2 favorite MMs. Although mercs/storm was fun.

I have a WP/Staff and a Rad/Staff. Staff is just one of those "fun" sets. On a tank, you hit EVERYTHING with Staff. While it's not the most damaging, in groups you just lay everything to waste. The Rad does more damage due to Radiation Therapy and Ground Zero. It's sturdy, especially if you use your heal, and Rad Therapy when available. WP is "fire and forget". You can soft cap your fire/cold/energy/neg energy defenses. Plus get decent resists...all while regenerating at a base of 90 HP/Sec. I think a fully saturated RttC nets me almost 160 HP/Sec. I can be in the middle of a fire farm, walk away, get a drink, go smoke, grab a snack and come back and still be alive.
-
Necro/nature could be a nice theme, if thats your thing. Or /Poison. I know going with a theme or concept limits a few things, and may not be the most "powerful", but it can also be the most fun.
-
Necro/Thermal.....I mean, who doesn't love a flaming on fire zombie? I haven't done one, but something with /Nature? (You don't have one listed). I ran a Mercs/Pain, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also enjoyed Beast/Time.
-
Good luck! I love mine. It's such a fun set.
-
Make sure to slot the Uniques (Numina's, Performance Shifter, Miracle, etc). That'll help. Plus, being able to soft cap fairly easily with Shield, you should be able to focus a couple extra slots on attack, Health/Stamina (for those procs I mentioned), and can always take Energy Mastery for your Epic power pool so you can get Physical Perfection.
-
Sounds like @Werner is getting the same problem I have....old age/forgetful memory. We're just a couple of old farts. Now...what are we talking about? Oh, Radiation Melee. Yes, it is good. Slow, but good. You have a damaging attack that also heals you, a toggle Damage Aura, and then Devastating Blow and Atom Smasher. Devastating Blow hits HARD...but it's slow. Some people don't like the fact that it takes a couple of seconds to fire off an attack. Eh...is what it is. Plus, the cool thing with Radiation Melee is the Contaminated effect it has. In essence, if a target is Contaminated, your attacks on the target has a chance to cause damage to surrounding foes as well. I'd say Shield/Rad would be a very potent combo.
-
Secondary powersets? Spines and Radiation Melee
