Best (subjective) power at every level
Shred Monkey replied to 0th Power's topic in General Discussion
Assassin's Strike, Blaze, Shield Charge... and I'll 2nd storm kick mentioned above. Special Consideration to Air Superiority from the pool powers. Almost every toon I make takes this power at 4 and slot it with 3 prestige recharge enhancements at level 5... I usually dump it later, but in that level 4-20ish range, it's the best power in the game. -
7 pages? If someone says not to send them a tell, and you send them a tell, you're an idiot.

Interface (Incarnate Power) vagaries
Shred Monkey replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
The beauty of the interface power is that they're very well balanced... all being pretty much worthless. Even degenerative (I agree, as mentioned above, that it's the best) basically just speeds up AV fights by 1-2 seconds. But it does essentially nothing the rest of the game. Considering that most other incarnate powers are about equal to 1 fully slotted power, or a full enhancement slot on all powers, I think it would be reasonable to double the damage on these to make them similar to a slotted proc. -
Sounds like a stealth nerf to regen to me.

Who plays CoX in the most unusual way?
Shred Monkey replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
I like this... not sure about the SO's/DO's, but I like idea of using trams and zone exits only, and running back to the door to exit a mission. I'd probably even street sweep between missions and rely on ninja-run as my only travel power to keep with the theme. It would feel more like Daredevil and Jessica Jones and less like the S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers. It also reminds me of that episode of "The Wire" when budget cuts have all the detective cars out of commission so McNulty takes the bus to a get to a murder crime scene... I digress, but I can never resist referencing "The Wire." -
Any/Any Defender.

I often use placate as a control power when leveling up solo... it's effectively the same as a single target fear or sleep power to put a target on ice while you beat down his buddies. The new power sounds like it would be even more useful in this manner because it can hit more enemies. I'll be diving into my spreadsheets to see if I can find a way to abuse it in each of the powersets where there are 2 big hitters... but the high recharge makes it seem unlikely I will find what I'm looking for. If you really want this to be useful, give to blasters. They're the AT that needs an AoE threat wipe.

I have a few toons level locked.. 1 at 40 and 1 at 12. Their sole purpose is to play non-level 50+ content. I do enjoy the level 54x8 stuff, too.. though it's best with smaller teams.

Maybe a stuck key on your keyboard? I've never seen anything quirky about this game affecting my computer.

Cosmic Council is a good group. They're pretty welcoming of anyone, so if you're looking for a home, I recommend you seek them out. I think DiB is the one taskforce/trial that actually still regularly fails in this game. It puts you in a fight where team make-up and strategy actually matter. With good strategy and coordination, or something as simple as having everyone fill up on purple inspirations when they hospital, it's an easy TF. But without that, a team can certainly fail. Personally I like PuGs. In fact, I prefer a PuG 54x8 ITF over a speed run ITF run by pro speed runners. I still jump on speed runs sometimes just for the quick merits, but that's not really the game I am looking to play when sit down and log in.

Sonic's real niche is as a primary for a blapper leaning heavily on siren's song for control and shout to fill between punches. Plus, thematically it's nice that you don't have to put away a weapon or unflame your fists to punch something.

I do that... but I tend to have a bit more covering. -

Put on my noise reducing headphones, log into my 50 em/ea stalker, queue up the MSR map in LFG locked to solo, and proceed to have a street-sweeping-scrapper-lock zen session in my personal level 54 zone. -
I agree that status effects are often overlooked in this game. If you're working to cover that last gap beyond the soft cap defenses and/or hardcap resists, having a reliable status effect to "lockdown" that NPC most dangerous enemy (or the ones who are doing the defense debuffs) works quite well. I tend to play toons with no taunt auras so I really like having a quick way to stack up a +4 stun or hold in my pocket.

Somehow I missed the fact that this movie was a part 1 of (2?) until midway through the movie when I realized there's no way they're finishing this in the time that's left. After the movie I went to look up when Part 2 was coming, and ... OMG it's not even greenlit! That means it's 3 years out at least...and maybe not coming! Now I'm angry because this was really well done.

They should sell "Put your name on the blimp for a day." (and a few other notable locations to make sure it gets seen)

If a "great" game came out for our demographic, of course Homecoming would disappear. However, I've become convinced that it's just not possible to make a "great" game anymore. Nobody will finance it. The investment money all goes toward producing trash games wrapped up in a pretty package to turn a quick buck. Homecoming's continued success is just a reflection of the popularity of the original title.

Soul Drain recharge time (from Epic powers)
Shred Monkey replied to Shred Monkey's topic in Corruptor
I had a DP/Traps defender on live... after dropping some traps while invis, I'd open with soul drain > Nuke. In theory I could pop that combo right at 30 seconds. In practice, I'd always waited for a fresh spawn for maximum effect. It was a very fun toon, though while somewhat underperforming in raw power compared to most of my toons. I'm finally getting around to rebuilding it as a Corruptor. -
I'm a fan of dual pistols plus traps or devices... thematically it works well as a "gadget" using hero... and it gives you an "active" primary and "passive" secondary synergy. Dual Pistols isn't a super ultra performing set, but for just fun gaming, it's one of my favorites. Also, for low to mid level play, Caltrops (in both traps and devices) are a great way to reduce incoming damage as enemies don't close to melee as quickly.

Soul Drain recharge time (from Epic powers)
Shred Monkey replied to Shred Monkey's topic in Corruptor
I was only looking at recharge, but it looks like the radius and max targets is different as well based on non-ingame data. -
According to Mid's, Soul Drain from Dark Mastery Epic is 120s recharge (requires 2 predecessors). Soul Drain from Soul Mastery Epic is 240s recharge and can be taken at level 35. I'm looking for confirmation of whether Mid's is correct on the difference in recharge time for these 2 powers. Thanks.

Demonstrating that 6 is 5 more than needed. -
I'm remembering something about council still use old animations... but I may be wrong on that.
