No one in this thread was attacking YOU, or "coming at you with spears and pitchforks for your blasphemy." There's a pinned post in this sub-forum, by a mod, that specifically says that we're allowed to disagree with a suggestion. And so far I haven't really seen anyone attacking your suggestion, mostly people just asking questions about it. Is answering questions too difficult and/or offensive to you? Oh and, welcome to the Suggestions Forum!

No, but Vigilance only works for some Defenders. My FF Defender, for example, never gets any benefit from Vigilance, ever. Gauntlet helps all Tankers all the time. It adds an AoE Taunt as well as increases the size of all AoEs. In short Gauntlet helps the Tanker hold aggro on teams and helps them do more damage while solo.

That's probably why I'm divorced. 😃 -

I agree. However, why can't you do both? There's a reason why Grandma's birthday cards are the best! Because they don't just say "I love you" they also have money. No, it's not an appeal to popularity. Mostly I was just being a jerk by pointing out that, while people constantly claim that the CoH community is the best, that's not always the case. Sorry, I need more coffee. And yes, you're right. There's nothing stopping @Gerswin from simply saying in Team Chat, "Welcome to the Team! I'll be accepting tips once we're done. Thanks!" And then also politely remind people at the end of the raid/task force/trial that he's accepting tips, which people can simply email to the raid leader. That's what people do in Guild Wars 2. However, I think the OP wants the legitimacy of an actual UI element to bolster his confidence in asking for said tips in the first place. Personally I don't think this is necessary. Just tell people "Hi all! I run these trials/raids a lot, so I don't have time for much else. I hope you enjoy it. And, if you do, there's nothing wrong with right-clicking on me and sending me an email with a generous tip. Thanks!" -

So the Guild Wars 2 community can handle giving tips to the raid leader without becoming jerks, but the much vaunted City of Heroes "bestest community EVAR" can't? Why are you on the forums? People could be jerks you know. Why do you play an MMO? People could be jerks you know. Why are you even on the internet at all? People on the internet could be jerks you know. The mantra of "but people could be jerks" can be used against anything. If you're really worried about people being jerks do you ever leave your home? People outside your home could be jerks and we wouldn't want to facilitate that. 🤪 -

Meh. If people are going to be jerks then they're going to be jerks. No excuse is needed. In Guild Wars 2, commanders routinely ask for tips for certain speed runs. I've been on dozens of them. Not once has a commander ever been a jerk to someone if they didn't tip. -
One of my favorite Blasters is Fire/Devices. Just make sure to change the Flares animation from the Standing X to the Powersuit Fists of Flame animation and you're set. It really is a fun combo, especially once you have Combat Jumping and some defense IOs to stack with Field Operative.

In my experience Willpower is one of the tougher sets for a Scrapper. Not as good as a fully built SR or Shield, but definitely head and shoulders above Regen. On top of that there's no endurance issues, no need to pick up Aid Self, a taunt aura to keep victims enemies from fleeing, and no constant clicking of heals or being interrupted by a mez click set on auto fire. It's my go to for Scrapper armor unless I have a specific theme in mind. And it should definitely be at least where Invuln is, if not 1 tier higher.

The Good Missions Guide: A Heroic Levelling Journey through Story Arcs
PeregrineFalcon replied to Gulbasaur's topic in Guides
Yes. However, if the story arc has that book icon next to it then you'll still be able to complete the arc, regardless of your level. -
Also, Blasters get Defiance. Which, among other things, adds a stacking damage buff after every attack. Unlike Scourge, this damage bonus is not reflected in the numbers shown in the in game powers window. So I understand why it can be confusing, but no. Corruptors do not out damage Blasters.

I just want to mention preemptively that the developers have said that they will not make the upgrade powers automatic. I know that you're not asking for this, Neiska. But, every time we have a conversation about MMs people start saying that they want the upgrade powers to be auto powers. A developer has already stated definitively that they will not do that. So I just wanted to mention that, preemptively.

That's been a proven theme for Homecoming since shortly after it launched in April 2019. I guess I can't get too upset about it. Turns out pirates be acting like pirates, no shock there. Now I don't want to hear a single word after this from the people who want to convince me how professional the Homecoming staff are, when they clearly and obviously have a double standard for when, and to whom, the rules apply.

As an aside, I've always thought that the Leadership pool was misnamed. Think about it for a second. It's a collection of powers that helps everyone on the team and is way better if everyone, or a bunch of people, has it. So it really should be called the Teamwork Power Pool. A Leadership power pool would make more sense if it was something that helped everyone on the team but didn't stack, as leadership really only works if there's just one leader, for small teams anyway. In game terms it would have to be something that only worked if the user has the star and its effect was multiplied times the number of people within the 60' radius. But yeah, that ship's already sailed. Sorry, just an errant thought.

You know, this reminds me of a forum thread about an official costume contest that was run by Lighthouse and Ex-Libris on the retail forums. I still have this, and a few other threads from the retail forums, saved on my SSD. During this official costume contest myself, and a few other people, pointed out that 4 or 5 of the runners up were obvious and specific trademark violations, mostly of various comic book characters. Talk about a complete fiasco. The drama by the forum posters and the utter incompetence of the people running the contest made for some spectacular reading.

I don't take Leadership on most of my Tankers because the builds are tight and because I don't really want the squishies to be standing that close to me. On Blasters and Defenders I usually do have a couple of the Leadership toggles. In fact, my friends and I have an all Leadership team of nothing but squishies will Assault, Maneuvers and Tactics. Needless to say we don't really miss not having a tank on that team.

Classification on melee types
PeregrineFalcon replied to The_Warpact's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I would say The Phantom is a Scrapper with the Pistols Power Pool and the Stealth Power Pool. I don't think he's a Mastermind at all, I think he just has a good Super Group. Same with Doc Savage. -
Something's been bugging me about this whole scenario since I first started reading this thread. That little voice in the back of my head that always warns me right before I do something really stupid has been trying to tell me something, but I couldn't quite hear it. Then I read this: And then suddenly, what's likely to happen if this option gets implemented became crystal clear. First, someone recruits a team. Second, someone changes the option to No Hospital without telling anyone. Third, when a player dies the leader berates that player until they've acknowledged and given a hearty "Yes, sir!" to every bit of the leader's advice. Only then would the leader allow that player to get resurrected and continue playing the game. I guarantee you that will happen. And, if you think about it, you know that it will too. This is definitely the Dolores Umbridge option, and I'm against it.

I don't mind the Tier 9's as is, but I do think that they could stand some revision. I'd change them to be like Strength of Will, 2 minute duration and immune to recharge enhancement. I'd also change them so that they offer the opposite of what the set typically offers. This creates a layered defense and makes them actually worth using. So, for example, SR's Elude would give 60% damage resistance to everything, instead of defense. Electric Armor's Power Surge would give 30% Defense and a zillion points of DDR so that the defense won't just get debuffed within seconds. You get the idea.

Sins of the Devs are visited upon the players
PeregrineFalcon replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
Well, GM Tahquitz's post saying that we are allowed to disagree with suggestions is still up. However, there is a difference between writing a single post saying you don't like/agree with the suggestion (like say a jranger), and writing 30 posts disagreeing, arguing with people, calling people names, etc etc. So it doesn't seem to me like there's anything sinister about GM Kai's post. And this is coming from me. The guy who never misses an opportunity to point out how biased and ridiculous the moderation on this forum often is. -
I know this game is maintained by volunteers and I get to play it for free. There, I've said the magic words, so let's move on to the actual suggestion. Since Empyrean Merits can no longer be traded for Reward Merits, because of concerns about AE farming, I think the devs should allow Prismatic Aether Particle Salvage to be traded for Reward Merits. I'm thinking at something like 1 PAPS to 50 RM. This gives us even more incentive to run Hard Mode content, and does it in a way that doesn't reward AFK farming.

Sins of the Devs are visited upon the players
PeregrineFalcon replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
Probably, but I'm not interested in doing the research for you. And I'm sure the devs know that too, which is why they recently nerfed the ability of people to turn Emp Merits into Reward Merits, but didn't nerf influence gains. Yes, I am aware of this. At no point did I claim otherwise. That's not quite what happened. What happened was someone responded to a post that I made pages back, and over a week ago, to disingenuously claim that farming is no different than normal game play. And I responded to that. I'm not trying to invalidate farming, you just made that up. The problem that I have, as I've said multiple times before, isn't with people farming. It's with people farming and then lying and claiming that it's no different than normal game play. It's clearly different than normal game play. It's done differently, for different reasons, often uses different builds, and the missions built for it are different than the normal story/lore based missions that non-farmers play.
