I really like your idea, Palehood! I do wonder how realistic it is to ask the Homecoming developers for art assets, even if they are ones already in game though. I know that code is one thing but art assets? I have no idea if that's impossible or easy or somewhere in between.

I just went back and reread his posts. He was not pretending to speak for the development staff. He was disagreeing with the OP's suggestion. And I'm not being "anal retentive about definitions." Words have specific definitions. Insisting upon attributing the correct definition to a word isn't being "anal retentive", it's trying to make sure that we're still speaking the same language. For example: I did not ride a unicorn to work this morning, as much as I would have liked to, I drove a car. Calling a car a unicorn doesn't make it one. I am pushing back against this so much because I've noticed a tendency in recent years to change a word or a definition, use the new word or definition for awhile, until people get used to it, and then getting the rules changed to make that thing against the rules. Since disagreeing with someone is already specifically covered in the rules we start calling it "gatekeeping." (Which is not what that word means) And then, in a few months, once we've impressed upon everyone how bad "gatekeeping" is, we then go to the mods and cry until they make it against the rules. And yes, the developers are adults. And, just as they don't need Glacier "gatekeeping" for them so they also don't need you trying to protect them from the mean old forum monsters who are keeping your precious suggestion away from them.

In order for "gatekeeping" to be a thing he'd have to actually be physically preventing you from entering a gate or door, or preventing someone from taking an action. That's what that means. Gatekeeping is not a synonym for disagree. He wasn't doing that. All he was doing was disagreeing with someone. And the forum rules specifically say that you're allowed to disagree with people. Right here GM Tahquitz said "If others disagree, that's fine, too." Ok? Did you get that? A GM specifically said that people are allowed to disagree with you! And changing the word from disagree to gatekeeping does not change that. TL;DR: It doesn't matter if someone "gatekeeping" triggers you, it's still not against the rules.

A person cannot be a gatekeeper unless they are actually able to prevent an action, in this case prevent the developers from implementing your suggestion. Can he do that? Can he fire the developers if they attempt to implement your suggestion? No? Then he's not "gatekeeping" or whatever word you want to misuse to describe his actions. He's "disagreeing with you." I don't know why people now days think they get to just change the meaning of words. It's like you all think your last name is Webster or something. Feel free to respond with "ok, boomer", or whatever nonsensical phrase the kids are using now days.

I think the developers should put these items on the P2W vendor for 25 million apiece. A one use instant level 50 token that is character bound. Cool gold colored titles. "Terminator" "Sith Lord" "There can be only one", etc. Bonus points if there's a badge associated getting any one of these titles. A power that's a one use giant banner that says the character's SG name in giant letters, or "Costume Contest" or something else useful. Like the banner should be bigger than a GM. Useful for meeting spots or recruiting or RPing or costume contests. A power that summons a chair and then has your character sit on it. Also useful for meetings or RPing.

OMG! I love this! I'm stealing this line, even though I'll probably never get the chance to use it. 😄

My experience is also that villains tend to better together than heroes do. Which is weirdly opposite of how it should be. However, someone's not rude simply because they don't respond to a random tell. I'm usually on Discord talking with my friends while I'm playing, so my chat window's often closed. So unless you send me a tell, and I hear it over the screams of my victims... I mean protests of those being arrested..., I'm not going to respond to you. According to your definition I'm rude simply because I'm too busy having fun with my friends to even notice random messages from other people.

You know, I remember Lighthouse and Ex Libris talking in the forums about marketing and advertising for City of Heroes. I said "you know, there's a really popular TV show running right now about super heroes. Maybe run a commercial during that time slot?" One of them responded with a bunch of eyewash about demographics and, needless to say there was no CoH TV commercial. Awhile later Ex Libris announced the official City of Heroes MySpace page. Anyone remember MySpace? Yeah? We'd forgotten about it too. Facebook was the one getting all of the traffic even back then. It was almost like NCSoft didn't want anyone to know that City of Heroes even existed. Which I never understood. You spent millions of dollars on it, why not at least try to make some of that money back?

Which, at least in the case of Energy Aura, makes no sense. Completely ignoring Incarnate powers for a minute, what could an EA Tanker accomplish that a Shield or SR Tanker can't already do with IOs? So what if an EA Tanker's defense with IOs will be higher than SR's with IOs? The enemies can only miss you, it's not like they'd "miss you harder than ever before", a miss is a miss. And as for Super Strength Scrappers doing too much damage... Sorry, after the kind of damage output that I've seen soft-capped Fire/Fire/Fire Blasters put out no one is going to be able to convince me that a Super Strength Scrapper, or a proper crit chance on Scrapper EM, would be overpowered.

I have this strange feeling that there are two things that I will never live to see: Energy Aura on Tankers Super Strength on Scrappers

That's the thing that bothers me the most about Homecoming. I wonder almost every day just how many people are out there that still miss City of Heroes, and would love to play again, but just don't know about Homecoming.

Yeah. I hate the fact that so many of the pool powers are, frankly, useless. I really feel that no power should be useless especially if it's a prerequisite to another power.

If City of Titans, or Ship of Heroes or whatever, doesn't launch until after I'm dead then can it truly be called a successor? At least for me it wouldn't be. And isn't my experience what's really important? 😁

Wait, what? I didn't know that. I thought that, like the others, it was always intended to be a CoH successor. Well, now I've learned something new. Thanks!

No. That's not what that means. What you're talking about isn't fascism it's authoritarianism. Fascism is a subset of authoritarianism. Soldiers working for the King who oppress peasants are not fascists, they are monarchists. Chinese police oppressing their masses aren't fascists either, but they are authoritarian. You don't get to just rename anything as fascism just because you want to. You seem to be upset that I'm "talking down to you" but then you respond with a post that shows that you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. I wasn't trying to talk down to you, I was trying to answer your question. If my honest and truthful answer upset you then that's on you.

They weren't Italian fascists, they were Nazi Super Soldiers.

Fascism is a specific political ideology. It doesn't just mean "anyone that I dislike" or "anyone that voted for Orange Man." For example: if the Queen of England ended up ruling the world she wouldn't be a fascist, she'd still be a monarch. The Chinese communist party believes in rule by an Oligarchy, a ruling council, whereas Fascism believes in rule by one strong man. So, while they are similar, the Chinese are not fascists. The 5th Column was originally a Nazi super group that came to America and fought against our heroes during WW2. They were Nazis and, like the real Nazis, were aligned with the fascists.

While we're at it the P2W vendor should also sell: A powerful ranged attack temp power in case the Blaster disconnects. A ranged taunt power in case the Tanker disconnects. A powerful melee attack temp power in case the Scrapper/Brute disconnects. Powerful buff and heal powers in case the Defender disconnects. Right?

More costume parts are also a low priority for me. I play on Homecoming because it seems like it's the rogue server that's the least likely to just vanish without warning, as at least one other already done. Population is a big factor in that calculation. Also, I'm stuck with Homecoming because they fixed Energy Melee. That may not seem like a big deal to most of you, but my main is Energy Melee, and I really really hated what the live devs did to it. Now that they fixed it I can't see playing on any server that still has the broken version.

If "first post" = "NO!" then yes, it's exactly like that. 🙄
