It's Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars (MOO 2016) for me, but yeah. I can play MOO II, and still think it's among the heights of 4x gaming, but even the remastered version looks like crap and annoys the heck out of me.

Thing is, almost all submariners get seasick. But that's because we generally spend very little time on or near the surface rockin' and rollin' and don't have a chance to get used to it. Something like 99% of our sea time is spent deep enough that there's no sea motion, only a (very) little vibration. Heck, the only time I really saw vibration in the coffee in my cup was when we were doing some powerplant/drivetrain testing and were going balls to the wall. (And my boat was old and not designed to nearly the specs of of the more modern boats.) OTOH, there's the time we spent three days surfaced on the edge of a North Atlantic winter storm taking green water over the bridge for reasons... That's a legend among the crew. Nearly forty years later and it still pops up from time-to-time in our reunion group on FB. I was one of the very few that wasn't sick as dog and the resulting re-arrangement of the watch bill meant I ended up on watch for nearly eighteen hours straight. I found his comment about beards interesting. Pretty much everyone on the boat grew a beard underway (though we were required to keep them trimmed and demonstrate we could pull a seal on the mask). But that could be a difference in era or a difference in CO's.

Exemplar mechanics for a project toon
Doc_Scorpion replied to NihilXAOS's topic in General Discussion
It was brought up to the Dev team during early Beta testing... That being said, the Quartermaster NPC's you can place in your base still sell TOs. -
Seconding the firewall suggestion... I don't know what you're using, but Norton loves to silently delete or block Homecoming files and connections. (It deems them suspicious due to low usage among their userbase.) I have to dig into it's logs to find and correct the problems.

For reference - that wiki scrapes content from elsewhere. HC now has it's own wiki: https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Main_Page

Inferno Nova.costume This is Inferno Nova... a fire/fire hover blaster wearing an outfit I kinda threw together back on Live and recreated here on HC. And frankly, which increasingly I don't much care for and haven't been able to improve on. So I thought I'd toss it out here and see what the talent here could do... Despite having fire powers - he's level headed, dispassionate, and thoroughly professional. Not flashy, and not a blapper. He prefers to engage at range. The star on his chest is a must keep, though it can be outlined. Red and Yellow are kind of his signature. He must have some form of (solid colored and complete coverage) eye protection and the full head cowl. (Exposure to flames is _not fun_.) I'm not attached to the belt style, but the jeweled belt is something I use on a lot of characters. The gauntlets... I'm kind of attached to the idea of the styles that leave the hands free while adding weight to the forearm. (He used to use Justice w/ Plate before I saw these in another thread.) The general Bronze Age (?) classic styling of his costume is my preference. (He's straight up a hero.) I hope all that isn't too limiting... Thanks!

Atlas Park's next stop is Talos Island?!

After Issue 9, you could also run half the length of Skyway... Steel was much easier. -
The City is definitely poorer for having drifted into an EVAH MOAH POWA! meta. Sometimes it seems people forget (or best seriously deemphasize) fun and theme.

Well, it's pretty conclusive then... 🙂 Thanks!

What with Fury, seems I can skip enhancing damage (at least in the early game). The million dollar question is - do I ever need to enhance damage at all?

Weekly Discussion 81: The Player-Market
Doc_Scorpion replied to GM ColdSpark's topic in General Discussion
This. There's a lot of moving parts in this game - and when it comes to Merits and the AH and how the devs intend they be used (let alone using them at all)... They're opaque as [word that would be moderated]. -
Time to enforce the name holding expiration rules
Doc_Scorpion replied to Kazuuk's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Which translates to "an active character should be at no risk"... A player cannot be free of risk unless all of their characters are free of risk. And that's the crux of my disagreement with the proposal - the presumption of guilt. The requirement that I (as an active player) must prove my innocence to maintain the privilege of being allowed to keep my characters. No. An active player should never be at risk of losing a name because others deem him unworthy of having it. -
Time to enforce the name holding expiration rules
Doc_Scorpion replied to Kazuuk's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Because an active player should not be burdened or punished for have inactive characters. This goes beyond "freeing up names from players that have left, almost certainly never to return" and into the realm of "force everyone to justify their worthiness to a name" (with more than a whiff of "eff the powerlevelers"). It's gone from "freeing up names" and started into "taking vengeance" territory. That is unacceptable.- 313 replies

Why were the Echo zone beacons removed from bases?
Doc_Scorpion replied to Flashtoo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Exactly. When Ouro (Issue 11) first dropped, Entrusted With The Secret was auto-granted on login to any one who had completed certain missions/story arcs and had the appropriate badge/souvenir. If you don't already have it, it's still granted by completing certain missions/story arcs. (I've had several characters on HC complete Mercedes Sheldon's arc just to give them an in character reason for having the Entrusted With The Secret badge. Some of them earned it that way.) https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Entrusted_with_the_Secret_Badge -
See? This is why when my wife wanted pets we compromised on guinea pigs. For her, they have personality and are big enough to cuddle... For me, they stay in their cage and (as I say) will never chew on or poop in my shoes.

Yep. The server code that was eventually released to the wild was an incomplete copy of the code as it existed at that time. (It didn't include the beta copy tool for example.) Even if the code still existed, there's no guarantee it was included in the stolen code.

I happened to notice yesterday that with City Hall doors you could click on an open one and exit/enter City Hall.

The only new travel power that requires Inf is the new P2W Supergroup Portal. (The equivalent can also be acquired for free via a Day Job accolade.) Spending Inf on long range travel powers is not only not necessary, it's emphatically not a tax. It's a choice.
-
It would be very handy to be able to know how many charges you have for the Monitor Duty Transporter and Rapid Response portal. (So you know if you do or don't have to spend time logged off in the appropriate Day Job location.) Could those be added to the Movement section of the Combat Attributes window?
-
Both my Brutes and Blasters have a monitor window for damage bonuses. Handy for judging when to cut loose with a heavy hitting power.

Time to enforce the name holding expiration rules
Doc_Scorpion replied to Kazuuk's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Your recollection matches mine. There was no gold rush of people claiming newly released names. I've always thought that the assertion "there's all these kewl names locked up!" to be a bit questionable anyhow. You, and other folks who've been unable to login, are why we need a carefully orchestrated notification campaign before the names are released... and a way to preserve the account via email. Sure, sure, there will be a few folks who don't actually play who'll login or start a ticket or whatever. But it's not going to be a significant percentage of the total. -
I have a couple who didn't, but a 5 minute jaunt around AP easily corrected that. Overall, it's been pretty easy to grab single badges to add zones too.
-
True. But even so, that's only when you join (or leave) the team. Unless you're re-teaming every mission - that's a once-and-done (at least for a while) thing. Certainly not enough to justify perma, a radical change in the AT's design. (And one that's almost certainly going to require a balancing nerf somewhere, lest MM's grow OP.) I'm in the habit of summoning-and-buffing when I login... I never know if I'm going to team, or streetsweep a little while watching the LFG channel, or what. Also true. But buffing them takes... seconds? Considerably Less than a minute certainly. Again, not that big a deal. If the team really is halfway across the map (not likely, more likely OP is significantly exaggerating), then it's unclear how much the MM would be contributing in the first place. (Though I certainly understand the desire! It's frustrating to not contribute.) If I'm on a steamroller team, I usually content myself with just the highest tier pet I have available and concentrate on buffing the team (mostly to make myself feel useful).
