[Beta] Patch Notes for April 5th, 2020
Doc_Scorpion replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
An idea for easing the cash crunch at lower levels: Currently the trainers buy back SO's for 25% of their base value.... Increasing that to 50% would significantly increase the income available to low level characters trying to kit themselves out. -
Some Archetype observations and thinking

Defenders are support/melee? -
A shoutout to a series that doesn't get nearly enough attention nowadays... Though no subsequent season lived up to the first, it was still a fantastic show. It was something massively different - serial rather than episodic. We take serials for granted nowadays, but back then prime time serials were practically non-existent. I think it's success and popularity was a factor in the success of Iron Man just barely eighteen months later. Last time I got new glasses, I seriously considered horn rims so I could cosplay as HRG. Hiro Nakamura : Peter Petrelli? Peter Petrelli : What? Are you doing this? Hiro Nakamura : You look different without the scar. Peter Petrelli : I don't know you. Hiro Nakamura : Not yet. My name is Hiro Nakamura. I'm from the future, and I have a message for you. I don't have much time. I'm risking a rift just by coming here. The girl. You have to save her. Peter Petrelli : What girl? Hiro Nakamura : The cheerleader. It's the only way to prevent it. Peter Petrelli : Prevent what? Hiro Nakamura : Everything. Listen to me. She must live. The painter, Isaac, go to him. He will know. When I call you, you must tell me where we meet. You've told me many times how lost you felt before it all started. *This* is what you've been waiting for. Be the one we need. Tons of good moments in the show, and fourteen years later this one still gives me chills - the moment a number of major plot threads were suddenly and unexpectedly tied together. "Save the cheerleader, save the world" became something of meme and people laughed about it... But it's the moment the series became so much more.

April's Black, White, and Grayscale Costume Contest Winners!
Doc_Scorpion replied to GM Miss's topic in Events & Contests
A panorama of Excelsior's contest. (I left the UI on so the names and thus the number of entrants could be seen... My first time ever in a CC, and I was astounded by the turnout.) -
NPC's Addressing Mastermind Pets instead of Mastermind
Doc_Scorpion replied to DarkonCOH99's topic in Bug Reports
They often address the PC nearest them rather than the mission holder too... -
Nothing. The game knows what level you chose a particular power at - but does not know which level you assigned a particular slot at. So you can be exemplared down to level 10 and have all of your (available) powers six-slotted. 100% true. What happens to enhancements in those slots... well, that gets complicated. Most of those lvl 50 builds you see floating about are not 'leveling' (playable) builds - it's intended that you respec into them at lvl 50. If you're actually playing and leveling, the theory of slotting is very different.

April 18th Black, White, & Grayscale Costume Contest!

If leveling was actually quick and inconsequential - seems to me that there wouldn't be a call for this, as it wouldn't be needed. People would just go "ah, it's not already easy enough for you?" Sorry, this is very much a real game.

Ouroboros: Expand patron arcs to all alignments
Doc_Scorpion replied to Replacement's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Then... be good and don't falter. Don't blame others for the consequences of your own choices. -
But what they don't show is why you need colors, let alone such a roundabout method of gathering them.
-
Honestly, it's not at all clear what you're asking for here.
-
They can re-apply them after using this inspiration too.

I know you know about it... But other folks interested in anime and costumes should also check out this thread:

Freaking awesome! (I presume by "all walls" you're referring to the War Walls?)

issue 26 Patch Notes for March 31st, 2020 - Issue 26, Page 5

tldr; Coming up with a balanced version wasn't the low hanging fruit they thought it would be, so they shelved it. -
Just wait for Season 2!

Discussion: Disabling XP No Longer Increases Influence
Doc_Scorpion replied to Jimmy's topic in General Discussion
This is exactly why we need that "facepalm" forum reaction.... (Or a forum reaction that properly conveys "oh boy, here comes a complete non sequitur!") When that small group is the people actually running the game... Yeah, it does mean exactly that. -

A bio I've been working on, and still needs some editing, but haven't really come up with a matching archetype concept yet: The general idea is that some kind of galactic (or interdimensional) organization takes criminals that can be reformed (or maybe the interdimensional equivalent of white collar or nonviolent major crimes) and sentences them to serving as a Hero as a form of penance/punishment. To them, it's no different than sending someone convicted of drunk driving around to local high schools to talk about the damage they've done to their lives. I forget how I figured it, but three hundred thousand hours is how long I figured it would take (from the character's point of view) to reach level 50. That's about 34 years, which is probably too long. Nor have I figured out why they think community service "isn't fair".

[Beta] Patch Notes for April 5th, 2020
Doc_Scorpion replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
Ultimately... permanent Double XP is the real challenge to revitalizing the lower level game.
