This is a brilliant idea, and I'm just going to @Faultline and @Jimmyin the hope that it doesn't get buried forever unseen in the depths of the thread.

[Links] When your AV and CoH don't get along
Grouchybeast replied to WanderingAries's topic in Help & Support
I've had the same issue as other people with Bitdefender not liking one of the download links during the installation. (The URL is chokes on is http://cdn.homecomingservers.com/hc/launcher/3417/win32/launchercli.exe.xz) I added the (newly created) CoH folders and apps on my desktop to the Bitdefender exceptions, and for whatever reason that didn't fix it. I had to add 'cdn.homecomingservers.com' as an exception to the Online Threat Protection module in Bitdefender to sort it out. (Protection --> Online Threat Protection settings --> Manage Exceptions --> Add an exception) -
I've just had the same problem, and listing the programmes and folder didn't work for me either. However, adding 'cdn.homecomingservers.com' as an exception to the Online Threat Protection module in Bitdefender sorted it out. (Protection --> Online Threat Protection settings --> Manage Exceptions --> Add an exception)

I'm seriously thinking about respeccing my Ill/Storm, Illusion of Control, into the Teleport pool. I feel a combination of Fold Space and Hurricane could be very rewarding.

How about awarding a badge for unlocking each LRT zone? Then at least they could be in a group in the badge window, and you could scan down the list and see which were missing. Also my badger would get so many new badges the first time they logged in, oh, my God, I'm getting giddy just imagining it.

On live, threads dropped only in Incarnate content, and shards dropped in non-incarnate content. On HC, threads drop in all content once a character hits 50, so shards have become, basically, a redundant system that contributes very little except unnecessary complexity. Getting rid of them would actually make it (marginally) harder to progress as an incarnate.

I've added the Sonic Manipulation page. I haven't put in the Enhancement or Powerset info for each power. I don't have the beta build installed, or a Sonic Manipulation character on Live, sorry, so I can't check the values. ETA: I wasn't sure what to do about using PBAoE v. Melee (AoE). In the end I used PBAoE to be consistent with the rest of the wiki.

I'm going to try to add Sonic Manipulation to the Wiki. I'm very much not an experienced wiki editor, so wish me luck!

This is both hilarious and a perfect description of what Blasters are and why they're so much fun to play.

The excessive spawn sizes are apparently a bug that was supposed to be fixed in testing. @Piecemealis looking into it.

You'd think that, but 'That's just your opinion' gets thrown around so often that stating up front that, yes, indeed, this opinion that I'm stating IS my opinion can help head it off at the pass. Or you can just start telling people that, no, actually, I'm using my mind control powers. This is your opinion now. This is everyone's opinion. But then people think you're being weird about it.

- Remove or reduce the rate of Incarnate XP gain outside of Incarnate content. - Get rid of shards, to simplify the business of making powers. - Reduce the vet level component rewards. - Reduce thread drops outside Incarnate content. - Make the interface less awful. At the very least, put a giant flashing arrow next to the scroll bar, but preferably just redesign the whole thing. - Stop all Incarnate slots other than Alpha from working outside of Incarnate content. Stop the Alpha level shift working outside of Incarnate content. - Limit the Incarnate level shifts to working in iTrial content (i.e. no level shifts in Dark Astoria). - Increase the recharge on Judgments. - Reduce the power of Destinies. - Absolutely do not add any more Incarnate slots until there's matching content and a roadmap for how to regularly add more. Do not do this unless it can be done alongside making content for the non-Incarnate game. If there's only time and resources to make one type of content, make non-Incarnate.

More power is the automatic go-to reward, but if you're one of the people who finds the current incarnation of the game too easy. then more power if functionally a penalty, not a reward. It might actually provide a genuinely escalating challenge for people who want that without impacting people who don't. I think it would need a way to 'unwind' vet levels, though, so that people could try it and then back out if they found it wasn't for them. Perhaps as simple as 'reverse xp', so that it would take as much xp to reset as it did to achieve in the first place.
-
That seems to fly in the face of your complaint that the game has been repeatedly made easier, and that has spoiled it for players like you. I propose the reverse: every X number of vet levels after 100, a small, cumulative debuff of some kind is applied to the character. As the character racks up vet levels, the game becomes progressively harder and harder for them. The vet levels become a badge of honour marking their heroic (or villainous) progress in the face of increasing odds. (Of course, anyone can choose to opt out of the system by turning off XP at level 100.)

First 50! Thank you for the help! Now what's next?
Grouchybeast replied to Aeroprism's topic in General Discussion
Gratz on your 50! There's a really good page on the wiki which lists all sets and their bonuses. So you can look at the type of sets a power takes, and then fairly easily see what bonuses are available. Generally, since I noticed you asking about Enhancement boosters: If you want to exep down with the character, then you're usually better off slotting attuned enhancements, so you'll still get the set bonuses. If you're always planning to play at 50, then you can look into boosting some of them, instead. However, pay attention to the ED limits, because there's no point spending a bunch of inf on boosters and then realising that almost all of the benefit was eaten up by ED limits. Also, boosting can be very good in powers that don't take sets. For example, using two boosted level 50 Recharge IOs in Hasten rather than three unboosted. -

Grouchybeast replied to Aeroprism's topic in General Discussion
@Aeroprism, if you want to get in to the CoX market, then you should pop over to the market forum, where you'll be warmly welcomed by its ebil denizens. (No, seriously, the market forum is full of some of the loveliest, most helpful players you could wish for.) -
DP/MC is definitely the most fun character I've ever played. It's just power after power of amazing, deeply satisfying animations and effects. Kicking a mob so they fly down the corridor and then shooting them while they're still in the air is a hundred times more fun as a power combination than anything in the actual combo power sets. All that said, my Fire/Ice blaster will always be my main, because flying around and blowing things up with fireballs is why I fell in love with the game in the first place.

Last winter some grey slush made a 'drift' against the fence about an inch deep, then melted in the rain a couple of hours later. Paragon City is probably my best hope for winter scenery.

As mountains to die on go, this one is more of a sinkhole. People call it redside because the icon and UI are red, and blueside because the icon and UI are blue. That's pretty much as complex as it gets.

My current duo pair is an Illusion/Storm Controller and a Storm/Energy Defender. We're currently at level 29 in Croatoa, throwing pumpkins and witches around, and it's great fun! We might not have the highest DPS, but nothing ever stays on its feet long enough to try to kill us. My hope is that when we eventually get enough recharge we should be able to have four or five Tornadoes out at the same time.

I'm sorry people made you feel unwelcome. Honestly, in my experience, the best way to use these threads is to leave your feedback and then ignore any replies from people who just want to tell you that you're feedbacking wrong. The only people who ultimately matter in how feedback is implemented are the devs, and I'm sure they're reading all the posts, especially those from non-regulars who've made a special effort to come to the forums.

Please revert the Rage change.
Grouchybeast replied to MalphiteMeIRL's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Regardless of whether you play your SS character, if you send @Yomo Kimyata an in-game email, he'll send you 20 million inf per this thread. That should give you a head start on making your new character nice and shiny. :-) -
As are plenty of other badges.

Focused Feedback: Blaster Secondary Revamp
Grouchybeast replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I propose changing all uses of 'Lethal damage' on blueside to 'cutting remarks'.
