That wasn't my "usual outfit" because that wasn't Ironblade in that shot. That was one of my tanks. Ironblade is a scrapper. You're referring to his original outfit as seen below.

Hey! I remember you. Oh, look, here we are completing a task force. Since I took this screenshot, my character is the one with no name over his head. That's my ice/SS tank Staff Sgt Frost.

Most of my costume decisions were made long before that. The Champions RPG was published in 1981 and most of my characters didn't have capes because they didn't seem practical. I had a character who had a cape that let him glide. I had a character with mental powers who didn't need to move around much in combat, who had a cape. A cape would obviously create a lot of drag when flying. 'The Watchmen' was published in 1986 and we got to hear about Dollar Bill, the masked hero who worked for a major bank. His costume was designed by the marketing department. While attempting to foil a robbery, his cape got caught in the revolving door and he was shot to death. We knew capes were bad long before Edna Mode told us.

I actually don't have any characters with multiple builds. As one of my previous suggestions indicated, I would solve this particular conundrum by making two characters.

Cool. I had an account to update ParagonWiki back in the day but have not set up an account to fix the HC Wiki when I see errors.
-
It looked like the main point of contention was whether or not it needed accuracy. A build with zero global accuracy or to hit would be the way to test that.

There's a new wiki, specifically for Homecoming, at https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Main_Page But.... it also says there's an arena in Talos. It's a work in progress.

The problem with coming up with an answer is where you say "team/solo". For mainly soloing, I would not take Empathy at all. Some of the best powers only affect others. I have an empathy defender at 50 and he solos fine (albeit slowly), but I didn't make him FOR soloing. The basic question is do you want to be mostly DPS or mostly support? Answer that and your question is answered. Maybe you should make two characters. On a side note, energy is a decent choice since knockback is damage mitigation. My empathy defender took dark blast for the to-hit debuff. And if you do go with the defender, hit that Leadership Pool hard. Defenders get the best effects from the Leadership powers.

I already have the name and costume. I made a defender with slicked back nerd hair, big glasses and the costume that looks like circuit board patterns. His name was Numbers Guy. -
Alternatively, he could switch to a second build with NOTHING slotted and see how that does. I do that a lot for testing powers so there's nothing to obscure the power effects.

And it's even cooler when you give them a name like Dark Lord Darkness. (Yes, I did that. No, not going to remake him so anyone who wants can take the name.)

Absolutely not. The low-priced (less desirable) item goes up and the high-priced (more desirable) item goes down. -
Discussion: Disabling XP No Longer Increases Influence

This is basically a false statement because you are conflating two things. (The part about "making fun of farmers" is just flowery prose and irrelevant to the discussion.) The game always had farmers and always will. It's safe to say that most games have farmers. Farmers were not labeled 'exploiters'. Some people WERE exploiting in their farms. This exploit was removed. At the same time, an existing system was changed that affected all farming. This seems to be what generated 99% of the outrage but it was a decision on the part of the developers to curb inflation. It was in no way an indication that all farmers are considered exploiters. -

This is exactly backwards. By reducing inflation, and therefore the prices of goods, this is the one group that has PURELY benefited. This is the group where the so-called 'casual player' resides. Unless, of course, I'm misunderstanding your use of "non-marketers". I take that to mean someone who does not use the market to generate funds for themselves. I do not take it to mean someone who never uses the market in any way. If that was your meaning, then the whole farming nerf is invisible to this group of people and has no impact on them, positive or negative. Okay, in a later post you clarified, "I did say non-marketer. I think that as different from non-Marketeer. " In which case, as I noted, this change had no impact on them. If they're not using the market at all, then market prices have no bearing on their play. They are getting their goods from vendors using either inf or merits. -

Thank you for perfectly proving my point about the difference between theory and practice and people being oblivious to the concept of privilege. My point was not that someone might not be able to type /ah. Yeah, it meets the literal definition of accessible. That doesn't mean that it is, in fact, accessible for them to use it. If someone simply can't understand it or learn it, then it is not accessible in practice. -
I see this comment, or variations on it, quite often. Not every power needs all six pieces from a set. Many sets don't have six good pieces. Also, depending on your goal for your slotting, frankenslotting can be a much superior tactic. I have an invuln tank with +360% regen from slotting just two pieces from many different sets. As for the original question, my rad/rad tank isn't high enough to have this power, so I'm reading the thread with interest.

I'll defend it. I've taken 1-3 powers from it on various characters and never regretted it. I built an invuln tank who had Aid Self slotted for interrupt reduction. Even with multiple enemies around me, I could CONSISTENTLY use it without being interrupted. And he obviously had to take Aid Other to get Aid Self. One power has 5 slots and the other has 6, not for the power itself, but to mule set IO's for +regen. I have Aid Other on Ironblade due to my long-term goal of completing all the missions. Too many have stupid/squishy escorts that I have to keep alive. Since he's /regen, he obviously doesn't need Aid Self. I have a sonic/sonic defender with Aid Other, Aid Self and Field Medic. He also has 3 powers (Assault, Tactics, Vengeance) from Leadership so there's no either/or dichotomy on those two pools. As a defender, he supports the team. Often, he's the only person with any healing whatsoever. Since he doesn't have high damage output, he's usually not the main target of enemies so he can use the heals in combat without much concern about being interrupted. And, of course, Field Medic makes Aid Other uninterruptible and that's the heal I use the most. I also have a dual pistols/devices blaster with Aid Other and Aid Self. Frankly, they seemed like a good choice since I solo him a lot and both his primary and secondary had powers that I felt sucked so I had extra power picks available. He also has Recall Friend, Assault and Grant Invisibility. So, do I have the Medicine Pool on most, or even a lot, of my characters? No. But it definitely serves a purpose. P.S. As an aside, is there any pool I have on most characters? Yes. All but two of my characters have the Leadership pool. I think it's the best power pool available.

Not so much a 'peeve' as a decision based on the limitations of the format. I've played pen & paper RPG's..... yikes, since 1979. When I'm playing an RPG in person, I role play my characters. Almost every word is in character. Any OOC comment is prefaced by that to make it clear. Playing online - I don't role play. Being restricted to text is so limiting and annoying (to me) that I just don't do it. My characters have back stories and their backgrounds inform their choices regarding powers, costumes, mission decisions, etc. But that's the extent of it.

And one step would be to actually get it working correctly. Example: I had a bid in for a recipe. My bid was 315,000 and had been in for two days. Upon checking, the market listed the last five transactions, all today, as follows: 1,100,000 1,050,000 5,000 1,150,000 1,100,000 Well, there's a problem. If my bid was 315,000, there can't be a purchase at 5,000 unless either the bidding or reporting system is broken. Hardly destroying my quality of life (gaming), but it is annoying. -

I am reminded of a quote attributed to Yogi Berra: "In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they aren't." Yes, technically, everyone has the same access to the market. So, IN THEORY, it's equally accessible to everyone. In practice, there are plenty of people who just aren't able to marketeer their way to big bucks. Maybe they don't have the patience or attention span to learn it. And maybe this is due to medical reasons and not simply characters flaws. Maybe they don't have the intelligence or education to get it to work for them. Frankly, when I hear someone saying that the market is equally accessible to everyone and there's no reason they can't learn it - that smacks of privilege. Hey, I have a good education, I'm computer literate, I kick butt with Excel - this market stuff is easy. Well, it's easy for SOME people, entirely doable for MOST, but not for everyone. -
Hell yeah. It's not often I need to do this on my scrapper (Ironblade). But I was doing some Ouro badges, exemped to level 14 in The Hollows with 'enemies buffed' and me having 'constant debuff'. That's a tough combo at level 14.
-
Yep. I think even 2-3 toggles is too many. I have the void skiff / rocket board / magic carpet on exactly ZERO characters even though I have several where they fit the background perfectly.

Really Hard Way Runs on Everlasting Sat 9pm Eastern

And now I've started a long-term project: a better corrupter for this iTrial. My current corr is fire/thermal which is great in general, but not 'top tier' for the Magisterium. I have now created a beam rifle/kinetics corr. -
But how many 'top tier Incarnate powers'? My main has like NINE tier 4 powers because I wanted Clarion AND Rebirth AND two different Barriers all at tier 4. 🙂
-
You actually can't be 'over-leveled'. The Citadel TF, for example, is listed as level 25-30. Anyone above level 30 will be exemplared down to 30 (thus losing a number of powers, including all your Incarnate stuff). The older task forces are EASY to solo. I would guess that any character could do it with some temp powers. If you build specifically for soloing AV's, you won't need temp powers for most of them. The newer TF's are much harder to solo (Dr Kahn, Ms Liberty, Lady Grey). Fortunately, the 'newer and harder' ones tend to cap at level 50 so you can have your incarnate powers.
