In Pokemon Go, rather than following you, some of the Pokemon (like Eevee) will ride on your shoulder. 🙂 But I guess we have the shoulder panda for that. We need a shoulder parrot. Did we ever get a parrot? The pirate temp costume power has a shoulder parrot.

Are you referring to the 'Name Release Policy'? It's an automated process but it has NOT been implemented. And maybe never will be. It was announced quite a while ago and still not activated. Back on live they ran the program and it freed up a lot LESS names than they expected so they didn't do it again.

It's probably because players from other games are used to healing causing aggro. In The Secret World, you could tank with a 'heal tank' build. You would heal yourself to stay alive and the healing would generate enough aggro that the boss would ignore the damage dealers.

Oops. I went back and re-checked. I had it backwards.

I happened to look up these two armor sets the other day. Radiation Armor was on the public test server at the time of shutdown. Bio Armor had not even gotten that far.
-
Well, I would not pick dark/dark simply because both sets have accuracy debuff as a secondary effect. I think it's better to have a bit more variety in a build. Never mind the fact that I used to have a dark/dark character with the dark epic pool. 😛 Any of the other three combinations should be fun. I've taken fire blast, dark blast, dark miasma and time manipulation to level 50 and they're all good. Also, I think all three would be good for both soloing and team play.

Starting a separate post due to addressing a completely different subject - character powers, since you say you're new to the game. As someone from the Wild West, you would probably want to take Dual Pistols as one of your power sets. Or maybe not. It's a bit 'acrobatic' - being based more on 'gun kata' than classic gunfighting. Refer to various anime, the move 'Equilibrium', etc. If you go with dual pistols, you could be a blaster (focus on damage output), a defender (focus on helping allies, the pistols are the secondary power), a sentinel (damage output a bit less than blaster but you get an armor set for your defense), corrupter (similar to a defender except your damage output comes first and helping allies is secondary). And how do you envision the 'demonic' powers? Do you summon demons? You could play a mastermind with demon pets. Do you produce fire? You could use a set blasting fire or a set that uses fire as armor or that uses fire to heal and shield allies. For example I have a fire/thermal corrupter - her primary power is fire blast and her secondary power is thermal radiation which has healing and fiery shields to put on allies. You could have a mastermind with demon summoning and thermal radiation. That's an available combination. I would recommend not starting off with a mastermind. They're a bit more complex to play since you have to control your pets as well as yourself. I would start with a simple character to learn the game mechanics. There are *SO* many options available. I would suggest checking out the Homecoming Wiki https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Main_Page and bookmarking it for future reference. There's a ton of information there with some of the most useful and relevant articles mentioned on the main page. You might want to start with The Players' Guide to the Cities FYI, you posted this thread in the section specifically for the Everlasting shard. If that was intentional due to having picked this as your home shard, cool. This is where I hang out. If you want your posts to reach a wider audience, you should post in one of the other sections. A post like this would also be appropriate in the 'General Discussion' section.

Well.... there's a slight conflict. Since you're in Europe, you would probably find the most players for your 'prime time' on the Reunion shard. All of the other shards are hosted in Canada, while Reunion is the 'European server' and is hosted in Frankfurt. On the other hand, you mention role-playing. The 'unofficial roleplaying server' is Everlasting. 'Unofficial' because it's not designated as such by the developers but the players decided to gather there so that server has more rp'ers than the others. Just like Indomitable is the 'unofficial' PvP server. You might want to check the server status at various times of day. Excelsior has the largest numbers of players and Reunion the least (at this minute). Excelsior is so much larger that it might be a good choice even during 'off hours'. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/status/ And, if you start on one server and later change your mind, no problem. Each account gets five server transfers and these are replenished every 3 days.

The best-laid plans of mice and men. We also weren't supposed to be able to get the Really Hard Way badge until additional Incarnate slots were released.

I had two accounts, both of which were subscribed in order to get the rewards. Also, I bought pretty much every update and costume pack for at least my main account. During the time the game was running, I spent just under $1900. Spreading that out over about 7 years, I feel that was pretty cheap entertainment. By this point, I imagine that figure would have been around $4000. Or maybe higher. I have a lot more money now. I've got close to $1000 put into various crowdfunded games that haven't even released yet. On 'live', we were initially limited to 12 characters per shard. I had filled those slots on Infinity so I got the second account just a couple years into the gam. Then they gave us the ability to purchase additional character slots, up to a limit of 36 per shard. That was plenty for me. At shutdown, I had 37 level 50's (35 of them on Infinity) and an additional 4-6 characters leveling up. I probably would not have double that many by now as I continued to play characters after they reached 50. So, with more and more 50's, I would have less time to level new characters. Also, part of my early push was to get at least one of every AT to level 50. Then I took every tank armor set to 50 at least once. After that, I didn't have any goals that involved large numbers of 50's. FYI, the 'secret server' continued issuing anniversary badges and you can buy them for merits each year, during the anniversary month (May). I plan to do so on my badger. I was here when the first anniversary badge was issued.

It wasn't too bad. My SG was consistently around #37-38 on Infinity and we had a max plot, dimensional vortex for energy, two orbits of control, max storage, etc. It was the RENT that was an onerous system.

Cytoskeletons are awesome in Invincibility. I just recently for the 4th one I needed (two each for my two invuln tanks).

Something I find kind of amusing in this game...

issue 26 Patch Notes for October 13th, 2020

I'm in the game now and it's daylight. -
Back in the day, it was hard for a lot of SG's to build a decent base so the devs did a 'one-time' grant of free prestige per character in the SG. I forget how much prestige it was. However, since it was done without warning, people screamed bloody murder. So the devs said they would do a second grant of prestige per character and announced it in advance. So, people made filler characters to pad people's SG's up to the maximum size. I made a spreadsheet to track the 'trades' (I'll put 12 characters in your SG on Pinnacle if you put 12 in mine on Infinity). I still have the spreadsheet It looks like I created around 690 characters to fill people's SG's.

"Toxic" Community?.. My thoughts, feel free to add your own!

On the other hand: 1. Involving people in research without their consent is generally considered unethical and requires review by the university's ethics board which may or may not have occurred. 2. What he referred to as "violating social norms", most people would call "being an asshole". It's all about perspective. Was he a dedicated researcher just doing his work or was he skirting the rules of academia and engaging in online harassment? -
Well, here's my entirely subjective take on the subject. Some servers are trying all kinds of gimmicks to try to get more players or just for the fun of experimenting. This server is planning for the long haul and currently working on infrastructure, software mechanics and an agreement with NCSoft.

One of my favorite places was way back before the revamp of Faultline. If you recall, the entire back of the zone was sealed off by a war wall and 'inaccessible'. However, if you could fly and teleport you could use the camdist command to position your viewpoint above the war wall and teleport behind it.

Just noticed this exchange. His name was Nikola, not Nikolai. Groucho, not Grouch. Now get off my lawn.

My next alt has nothing to do with the update. Back on live, I had taken every tank armor to 50. I currently have a rad armor tank at level 36. When one of my current tanks (I have 4 below 50) gets to 50, then I'll do a bio armor tank as it will be the only set left. I already made him to hold the name - Alabama Slammer - bio armor/war mace (baseball bat). I have no idea what the two after that will be.

Also, there's a TARDIS sitting on the roof of Pocket D. Seems like a waste unless we were expected to find our way out here since it's not visible from inside the building.
-
Apparently I have way too much time on my hands. I PL'ed this guy so that I'd be able to give tours out there. Sadly, it seems that Recall Friend does not function out there. I was unable to teleport teammates from inside Pocket D, even when I moved closer to the building.

Good luck with that. He can ask me to jump off a bridge, too. 😛
