  1. You are correct in that they were telling you a load of bull. Not everyone uses Discord. On most pick-up groups, no one will be on Discord. It sounds like you ended up on a team with a group who usually play together, or are in the same supergroup. Personally, I'll be on Discord when I play with my brother and his family since I live 1100 miles away from them. When some groups run Incarnate trials, they like everyone to be on Discord to hear instructions (mic not required). When I'm playing CoH, I am NOT on Discord probably 95% of the time. Get yourself a headset so you can join people on Discord and *TYPE* to them that you have a sleeping baby so you can't talk. With Discord and Zoom becoming more popular, you'll want a headset at some point. Note the distinction between 'headphones' and 'headset'. A headset has a mic. Headphones do not.
  2. Way too spammy. I SOMETIMES announce my AoE buffs that have long cooldowns. Mostly, I just try to get near most of the team and fire it off. If we're about to fight an AV or giant monster, I'll tell everyone to gather for buffs since we would likely have multiple buffers.
  3. It's exactly the opposite. You used to need to do damage for full credit and that disadvantaged 'healers', so the system was changed to evenly distribute the rewards across the team. I'll also extend an offer to team. Most of my characters are on Everlasting and I do all sorts of content there. However, I also have a scrapper on Indomitable and a tank on Excelsior that I want to level and I don't know as many people on those shards. My global is @Ironblade so you can send a friend request, email, etc.
  4. And I'd reply with, "Why do you ask?" 😛
  5. How long ago is "just"? I hit 58 in June. 😛
  6. You'd be surprised. Regina Pizzeria in the Boston area does decent calamari. Turner's Seafood (which is expensive) does excellent calamari.
  7. Back on live, someone sent me a tell asking me if I wanted to join a Citadel TF. I replied, "No thanks." They replied that, since I was in an MMO, it was my duty to team with people.
  8. Yes, pretty sure ZorkNemesis understood you perfectly. As he pointed out, any mission that grants a badge itself, does *NOT* count for Ouroboros challenge badges. I believe the arc you're describing is "The Hydra Dimension" from Tina McIntyre. That arc awards the Multidimensional exploration badge. Therefore, the arc is not eligible for Ouro challenge badges. P.S. The flashback challenge badges are working perfectly. I have about a third of them so far.
  9. Thank you! This was going to be my addition to the topic.
  10. As an aside here, calamari isn't automatically rubbery - only when it's poorly prepared.
  11. I like the exchange in the movie 'Unforgiven'. "Yeah, well I guess they had it comin'." "We all have it comin', kid,"
  12. The 'Serenity Prayer', written by Reinhold Niebuhr in 1932-33. God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
  13. hmmm..... So was I. I wonder if we were on the same team.
  14. They had it coming.
  15. Weird. I have the option enabled on every character and can open the pet window even on characters who get no pets. It's empty, obviously, but I can open the window.
  16. You fail to consider the number of parents who were thrilled to return to this game and to be able to show it to their children.
  17. The window can be opened by anyone. All pet commands are NOT greyed out, depending on the pet. The incarnate Lore pets are controllable.
  18. That is not possible anywhere else. The only reason they had that data is that it was STOLEN from Paragon Studios and given to Leandro.
  19. Yes, Overdrive is a woman. That's for sure. I forget what movie it was, but the director used a full strength fire hose for realism and it ruptured an actors ear drum and made them pass out from the pain.
  20. Also worth mentioning, you can store a huge amount of stuff in the Auction House, which you can access any time you are NOT inside a mission or base.
  21. Someone already answered this, but I want to add something. For me, a major quality of life item is the existence of bind files. Any power that I have in common across multiple characters (Nemesis Staff, Recall Friend, base teleport, Ouro Portal, etc, etc), I set up a keybind. Then, when I create a new character, I type in the chat window: /bindloadfile c:\data\text\coh\binds_main.txt and that loads close to 30 keybinds. And one of THOSE keybinds loads the chat file with a single keypress to configure my chat window.
  22. Some people farm a lot. Some farm a bit. Some don't farm. That's really two questions. Will you be the only person in Boomtown? Probably. I hate Boomtown. 😛 Seriously, though, so far I have six level 50's and that is with ZERO farming. Also, I don't do Mothership Raids or Hamidon Raids until AFTER I'm level 50. What I do is A LOT of task forces. That's my preferred way of leveling.
  23. Yep. I always solo it on a scrapper, brute or tank. On a 'squishy', I don't even try. I always ask someone to join me with a scrapper, brute or tank.
  24. Just because you have to fight someone doesn't make them a villain. A person can get drunk and violent and you have to deal with them. It doesn't make them a villain.
