  1. Is it breaking something or causing problems with some other system? If yes, report it immediately. If not, I don't consider that a bug. It's an 'undocumented feature'.
  2. You know what you need to do now? If you 'feel' gullible, you need to go talk to Null the Gull and get the Gullible badge so you can advertise it to everyone. 🙂
  3. Yep. Open sign-up on the forums - anyone could attend. Gata ran it for a while. MsCats ran it for a while. I ran it for a while. In each case, "a while" was a year or two. Every Saturday at 1PM. We ran all the task forces and trials in order by level, starting with Positron's and going all the way up, only skipping Dr Q because it was so long. I would run that one on a different day for the crazy people. On a side note, one week I had someone ask if they could join. I said everyone was welcome. She said she wanted to bring a kheldian and understood they weren't always welcome (back when we had shadow cysts to annoy kheldians). I said EVERYONE is welcome and I organize everyone into teams and I'll put you on my team so no one dares say anything. That was back in 2010 or so and we've been together in real life for years now. 🙂
  4. And before we had a team size setting, farmers had to get 8 people on the team and then 'paint the map' to spawn all the mobs, then the padders could leave the team.
  5. I agree they were rarely worth the cost back on live. It's not as bad now. Of course, having said that, I buy most of my purples and AT sets using merits rather than influence. As for Dominators, I had one back on live where I specifically chose his sets and powers in order to get the maximum number of purple sets in. He was absolutely devastating but horribly expensive. It was an experiment that worked very well but that I never repeated. AND - why do we not have a purple set for something as widely used as heal powers? We also need purple sets for defense and resistance. Should we expect to never get purple sets since they gave us the PvP sets for these power categories?
  6. So many perspectives on how and when to slot IO's. Here's my take on it. I use SO's up to around level 32-33. At that point, I start crafting IO sets and plan out most or all of my build to 50 so I can buy and craft my sets and have them sitting in my trays as I level up and get slots for them. For powers that I'm getting in the 40 level range, I'll typically slot them with level 40+ IO sets for the extra performance. I figure I won't mind losing the set bonuses when I exemp to low level because, for example, if I'm losing a lot of extra +recovery it doesn't matter because I have fewer powers and fewer toggles spending my END. For a power where I plan to slot a purple set, I'll keep using SO's right up until I can slot the purples. An exception is something like the Luck of the Gambler +recharge unique. I'll always get that at the lowest level possible even if the other pieces of the set are 40 or higher. I do it this way so MOST of the time, I don't need to respec to do my 'final build'.
  7. Absolutely a good point. BUT, I think a goodly portion of their perspective and philosophy is ingrained and even subconscious and I think it would be difficult for anyone to articulate these things clearly.
  8. The Really Hard Way badge was supposed to be like that - impossible until we got additional power. But we did it anyway.
  9. Fusionette is cool. Here's one of my characters in her Fusionette tribute costume, posing with her.
  10. Okay, impaired hearing is definitely a problem. However, for your info and others, a headset does not automatically prevent you from hearing things around you. Headsets are made with 'open cup' and 'closed cup' designs. They often look similar, but open cup headsets leave your ears 'open' to the air and don't block ambient noises.
  11. A LOT and yes. Typically, I start slotting IO's that are level 32-35 and with higher levels in the powers I get later on. I don't want to lose all my bonuses at the same time. Obviously, this doesn't apply to purples and such. Also, I take into account that, for example, I won't need as much +recovery at lower level because I have fewer attacks and slower recharge.
  12. I don't recall ever giving up on a character. The only thing that even comes close was when someone pointed out to me that a character's powers didn't really fit his name so I re-rolled him. I mean, I've made characters based on a silly name and taken them to 50. Remember the April Fool event with visual sound effects? I made Captain Freem and took him to 50.
  13. I don't see it as having a stigma. I've tried it and don't care for it. Like PL'ing and farming. Lots of people like these things but I don't.
  14. You mean per day? 🙂
  15. Not at all. Did you forget that you wrote this part: " I said it's useful for people who don't know any better. "
  16. And I'm saying that I'm an EXPERT at this game and I find the power to be useful - because it lets me be helpful to others and I value that.
  17. Well, I think inexperienced players should have fun, too. If I can reduce their frustration, then the power slot is well spent. At any rate, if it increases my fun, and someone else's, then BY DEFINITION it's not a waste since this is a GAME and fun is what we're here for. If it's a "total waste" to you, then don't take it. Problem solved. I don't build my characters for you. P.S. Funny you should mention the Taxibots and the Hollows. I was, and still am, a member of Paragon City Search And Rescue.
  18. And the truly generous player takes Recall to help people ANYWAY. Not everyone has a stealth IO. Not everyone knows that base empowerment stations even exist. Many people just don't have your level of experience and knowledge of the game and I go out of my way to help them have fun anyway.
  19. No offense taken. I absolutely recognize the value and this is why all my defenders and most of my controllers take all the Leadership toggles. Like I said, I just overlook team inspirations. When I switch to a character that is carrying some, my reaction is "Wow, I should have had some of those in that last mission. I need to remember to get some for next time." And then I don't. Well.... it might not be easy to work it in by level 8 but I have it on the majority of my characters. I'm all about teamwork and support and pretty much all of my characters will take a power or two that's mostly to benefit others. LOL. No. Having someone with Recall is no longer critical, like it used to be in some situations. Now it's simply useful. Being able to bring people to your location is HUGELY useful. I'll get Assemble The Team and I'll get the Incandescence incarnate power as a back-up, but that's not available when you're exemped below 50 and ATT has a long recharge. "Oh, but everyone should have ATT." Sure, but what if they forgot, or haven't gotten it yet, or that character didn't have the funds, or what if I'm the only person with Invisibility and my ATT is recharging from the last mission we stealthed? Trust me. I take Recall on most of my characters, I use it a lot and I get thanked by teammates *A LOT*.
  20. I don't like cheese in my pastries. Ricotta belongs in things like stuffed manicotti.
  21. I never really got into dual or team inspirations. I've only remembered to turn them on for one of my tanks and I have bought them for 'Really Hard Way' badge runs of the Magisterium. Most of the time, I forget they even exist.
  22. Weave has its place. Invuln is a 'mixed' or 'layered' set in that it has both resistance and defense but not enough of either for it to work alone. Adding Tough and Weave significantly improves both and makes a big difference.
  23. Oh yeah. My scrapper normally has his insp tray full of T2 and T3 purples. That makes Posi a cakewalk. Well, for me at least. There might be a lot of dying AROUND me. 😛
  24. My vote is no *UNLESS* you have something it can stack with. Otherwise, it's just not worth it. So, a dark defender with Maneuvers and Combat Jumping has significant defense right there. Add Weave. Get some IO's. Etc. Also, plan ahead. With some of the ancillary or patron pools, you can get SERIOUS resistance or defense. My empathy defender has just under 50% S/L resist. Personally, I think every one of my tanks and brutes has the fighting pool. Hardly any of my other characters have it.
