Yes, I am retired. Thanks. 🙂 As for the numbers, I'll only be working on a handful of characters at once and not create a new one until someone hits 50. And I play my 50's a lot. So, out of 17 characters, I have 7 at level 50: scrapper, controller, defender, brute, corruptor and 2 tanks. Most of these are fully tier 4 incarnates. The remaining 10 characters are as follows: corruptor, blaster, scrapper, stalker, 2 defenders and 4 tanks. All but two of these characters are recreations of characters from back on 'live'. Back on 'live', I took every AT to 50 at least once, as well as taking every tank primary set to 50 (invuln 3 times). One of the tanks I'm currently leveling is radiation armor. I've already come up with a name and concept (and reserved the name) for a bio armor tank. The above figures do not include six stalkers that I PL'ed to get red side content for my badger. They have XP turned off and are levels 9, 14, 19, 24, 29 and 34.

I have never heard this, now or back on 'live'. I used to run my dark defender all the time because Shadowfall gives AoE defense and resistance. Maybe this is a Homecoming thing? My dark defender is only up to level 34 (I think), so I have not yet done any mothership raids with her. If anyone told me that, I would simply ignore them since they obviously don't understand the game mechanics well enough for their comments to have any value. I do recall people claiming that stealth powers affected Rikti zone invasions - which was debunked by the devs.

Shardtober 2020: Up To Your Eyeballs In Eyeballs

and a Notice of the Well while it's the weekly. -
Well, it's new system time. I figured I'd post my new system details while I'm sitting here waiting for my Steam folder to get copied over to my new computer. Even on 1GB Ethernet it's a long wait. CPU: Core i5 10600K at 4.1GHz with a Pure Rock 2 HSF from be quiet! GPU: Gigabyte RX 5600XT with 6GB RAM Mobo: Asus Prime Z490-P Memory: 32GB G.Skill DDR4 Drives: WD Blue 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD for Windows 10 Pro and all my apps, data, music, photos, etc - except games. WD Blue 2TB SATA SSD for the games All the peripherals are ones I had already: Logitech keyboard, mouse and headset and a Samsung 24" widescreen monitor. I ask you, though, what is the fascination with LEDs? The memory sticks do a rainbow effect. The word GIGABYTE cycles through colors and the PSU fan has an LED. Sheesh.

Exactly. Like they say in poker, "If you've been in a game for five minutes and you don't know who the patsy is, it's you."

From seeing it in use and glancing over the power list, War Mace seems a lot like Battle Axe - which I have taken to 50 previously. So, if it is at all like Battle Axe, it should be pretty good. I'm thinking my guy will be a tank, bio armor / war mace, wielding a baseball bat.

1. I approve of any adult who admits they like the Powerpuff Girls. Blossom is my favorite. 2. I was meeting your requirements, especially the friends and family (actual friends and family) in SG until I got to the RP item. I wouldn't say I'm 'disdainful' of it, but I don't RP and pretty sure no one in my SG does either. Anyway, you mention an interest in TF's and that you just got here, so make sure you join the channel Everlasting TFs I'm on a lot and do a lot of task forces and trials. (I think it's a lot: 433 TFs and trials year-to-date. Yes, I keep track.)

You can't type something like this and expect us not to ask. Alabama Slammer is my guess. By the way, after typing that, I decided that was a cool name and it was available on Everlasting. It is no longer available. 🙂

My PrtScr button takes a shot with no UI. And, so that I don't have to remember whether to use Alt- or Ctrl-, I have both Alt-PrtScr and Ctrl-PrtScr set up to take a shot WITH the UI.

"What Would You Do?" Theoretical Bug Found
Ironblade replied to FoulVileTerror's topic in General Discussion
Is it breaking something or causing problems with some other system? If yes, report it immediately. If not, I don't consider that a bug. It's an 'undocumented feature'. -
You know what you need to do now? If you 'feel' gullible, you need to go talk to Null the Gull and get the Gullible badge so you can advertise it to everyone. 🙂

Yep. Open sign-up on the forums - anyone could attend. Gata ran it for a while. MsCats ran it for a while. I ran it for a while. In each case, "a while" was a year or two. Every Saturday at 1PM. We ran all the task forces and trials in order by level, starting with Positron's and going all the way up, only skipping Dr Q because it was so long. I would run that one on a different day for the crazy people. On a side note, one week I had someone ask if they could join. I said everyone was welcome. She said she wanted to bring a kheldian and understood they weren't always welcome (back when we had shadow cysts to annoy kheldians). I said EVERYONE is welcome and I organize everyone into teams and I'll put you on my team so no one dares say anything. That was back in 2010 or so and we've been together in real life for years now. 🙂

And before we had a team size setting, farmers had to get 8 people on the team and then 'paint the map' to spawn all the mobs, then the padders could leave the team.

I agree they were rarely worth the cost back on live. It's not as bad now. Of course, having said that, I buy most of my purples and AT sets using merits rather than influence. As for Dominators, I had one back on live where I specifically chose his sets and powers in order to get the maximum number of purple sets in. He was absolutely devastating but horribly expensive. It was an experiment that worked very well but that I never repeated. AND - why do we not have a purple set for something as widely used as heal powers? We also need purple sets for defense and resistance. Should we expect to never get purple sets since they gave us the PvP sets for these power categories?

So many perspectives on how and when to slot IO's. Here's my take on it. I use SO's up to around level 32-33. At that point, I start crafting IO sets and plan out most or all of my build to 50 so I can buy and craft my sets and have them sitting in my trays as I level up and get slots for them. For powers that I'm getting in the 40 level range, I'll typically slot them with level 40+ IO sets for the extra performance. I figure I won't mind losing the set bonuses when I exemp to low level because, for example, if I'm losing a lot of extra +recovery it doesn't matter because I have fewer powers and fewer toggles spending my END. For a power where I plan to slot a purple set, I'll keep using SO's right up until I can slot the purples. An exception is something like the Luck of the Gambler +recharge unique. I'll always get that at the lowest level possible even if the other pieces of the set are 40 or higher. I do it this way so MOST of the time, I don't need to respec to do my 'final build'.

Absolutely a good point. BUT, I think a goodly portion of their perspective and philosophy is ingrained and even subconscious and I think it would be difficult for anyone to articulate these things clearly.
-
The Really Hard Way badge was supposed to be like that - impossible until we got additional power. But we did it anyway.

Okay, impaired hearing is definitely a problem. However, for your info and others, a headset does not automatically prevent you from hearing things around you. Headsets are made with 'open cup' and 'closed cup' designs. They often look similar, but open cup headsets leave your ears 'open' to the air and don't block ambient noises.

A LOT and yes. Typically, I start slotting IO's that are level 32-35 and with higher levels in the powers I get later on. I don't want to lose all my bonuses at the same time. Obviously, this doesn't apply to purples and such. Also, I take into account that, for example, I won't need as much +recovery at lower level because I have fewer attacks and slower recharge.

I don't recall ever giving up on a character. The only thing that even comes close was when someone pointed out to me that a character's powers didn't really fit his name so I re-rolled him. I mean, I've made characters based on a silly name and taken them to 50. Remember the April Fool event with visual sound effects? I made Captain Freem and took him to 50.

I don't see it as having a stigma. I've tried it and don't care for it. Like PL'ing and farming. Lots of people like these things but I don't.
