Let's get as much info as we can here. In the HC launcher, click the little gear icon. In "General Settings". What does it say under "Install Location"? Next, click "Advanced Settings". Make sure the three boxes are unchecked, and that the Launcher version reads "win-x64-release-4772". If the number is lower than that, click "Check for updates" right next to that. Exit out of there and close/minimize the launcher. In your Windows search bar, type in "dxdiag" without the quotes and hit Enter. A little program will pop up showing lots of info about your computer. If the Notes Section at the bottom of any of the tabs/pages lists any errors, copy and paste them here. Otherwise, just click the "Save all information" button, and make note of where you save dxdiag.txt. Open this file (it'll open in notepad) and make sure it doesn't contain any personal info; the file will be very large with lots of technical jargon, but any personal info would likely appear near the top (particularly if you named your computer "YourRealName's Computer" or something); Delete any such info, save the file, then attach it in a reply here.

Hmm, let's try something a bit more basic. Under the "play" button is three small dots. Click that, then mouse over to "Verify" and click that. This will make sure all the game files are installed correctly.

Looks like it's happening in the background, too. Have you properly updated all your drivers? As this is a shadow setting, I would try disabling anything having to do with shadows in both the regular and advanced graphics options, then slowly turning them on/up from there. There might also be a mismatch with your resolution settings. You could also try going into the launcher settings (hit the ... under the play button and hit settings) and check on the box that says "Reset graphic settings on next run". This will switch everything to default, and then you can readjust your settings from there (just make sure to uncheck this box before the next time you log in, or else it'll reset your settings again!) It's kind of a shame, because I feel like people going for the "Golden Age/early Silver Age" look would actually get a kick out of this, as it looks like old-school coloring.

I'm pretty sure this isn't an avenue the HC team will be exploring. It's great that people want more options to support the project, and getting more content is always a plus. However, most of the posters above have already pointed out why this isn't likely to happen. Additionally, it would set a bad precedent and make future potential volunteers not want to do so unless THEY get paid, or even current staff might start going "Heeeyyyy...". So yeah, potential fustercluck all around.

While perhaps tongue-in-cheek, antagonizing an entire portion of our playerbase isn't cool, so, locking this thread.

HC's operation philosophy is one of careful consideration and getting things right. We had a few things lined up for the last page that weren't 100% done, and getting them there would have delayed the update past New Years, so they were tabled for the moment (hopefully to be done on the next update). Which is why we keep things close to the vest and have shied away from making announcements until something is pretty much good to go. Similarly, we've had ideas for additional community involvement/contests/etc, but nothing that's far enough along to make any promises on, let alone discuss. That said, I'll see if I can get an answer as to whether we're planning any announcements or updates in the near future 😃

Okay, so Flowers does back-end tooling that supports the GM team. Our job would be 378% harder (or at least more tedious) without the work they've put in!

I'm not a lead, but, aw, thanks! Flowers I may or may not get back to you on. Some of our staff want a certain level of anonymity, so I just want to clear it before I spill any beans. That said, don't feel bad about posting any of this, anything you've been able to glean is 99% likely fair game to be disclosed.

Hoo-boy. So, it's okay to be angry. And swearing isn't the worst thing here (general rule: don't swear at or to someone specifically, and try to keep it clean when possible. Saying "Ah fuck" is okay; saying "Fuck you" is not. Ultimately, what is or is not okay is up to Moderator discretion). Anyway... At the top of your screen here on the forums, just below our logo, are several buttons, (unless you're on mobile). They read Activity, Browse, Account, etc. Click "Account", then in the little window it makes, hit "Game Account". You'll be able to make a log-in name, and a password. Note that once you create a log-in name, IT'S PERMANENT, and can NOT be changed. So make sure it's a good one. Also make sure that the e-mail you used to make a forum account is active and not a burner e-mail, as this is how we'll communicate with you if you have issues in the future. If you need any more help, post your question in the Help and Support sub-forum (where I'll be moving this thread), or in our Discord. Thank you. Also, closing this topic before it gets meme'd.

This is what happens when I take a day off? ugh. AHEM, I mean... While the idea of a "default color" can certainly be problematic, this kind of discussion is almost impossible to have without real-life race politics coming into play, and that's the kind of thing that we'd like to avoid here.
