  1. Hi You'll probably get a better response to this over in the Mids sub-forum/club. I've moved this topic to the tools and utilities section, where it may get a bit more traction (also I cannot move threads into the mids club for some reason)
  2. You know what @Luminara, you're right! Thread moved to Suggestions and Feedback 😃 Also this:
  3. If everything's "fuzzy" and "washed-out" looking, it sounds like the resolution is being lowered and stretched. Try playing window'd (Full screen or not, may not matter), and then click your second monitor. And maybe keep the Window's Dual-monitor profile thingie up while you do. See if just CoH shrinks, or if changing your active monitor is actually doing something to the resolution of your primary screen? Your graphics card might have also been damaged by the power outage. See if a similar thing happens if you play CoH (or any other game) on monitor 2. I think there's also a setting in the NVidia control panel that will clamp the usage of GPU draw when a program is forced into the background. Maybe it just caps FPS though. Just spitballing here.
  4. Alright, that's enough. Thank you for your suggestion, but the resulting thread has been a bit of a fustercluck, so I'm going to be locking it down now.
  5. While neat, some of this might not be tenable. From what I understand (and this may be incorrect, if so, apologies), if there's a mismatch between the server and playerslots.txt, then the character just doesn't show up, and the whole file has to be deleted and recreated on login. This would make something like "days offline" problematic, since that number is always changing. Similar thing with level. I'm not sure if the game writes to the file during gameplay or not; so if you log in your level 10 blaster, gain a few levels, switch characters, then try to go back again, the blaster might not appear as they're no longer level 10. Again, this is based on my limited understanding. If we could get around these issues (assuming it works the way I think it does), then that'd be swell. Though if the devs WERE going to do something like this, I feel they should take it a step further and make it a .csv file so that a player could open the file in Excel or other spreadsheet program, and order the columns/characters by name, level, etc. Otherwise, without some way to organize the data, I see little point in populating a user file with all that info.
  6. We normally keep things close to the vest, but since this already kinda slipped, I'll mention it here: There's a new Incarnate Cimerorean arc is in the works (Am I even spelling that right?). There's currently a badge for defeating 100 Incarnate Cimerorean traitors that got pushed out last update by accident, but the only enemy in the game that applies to is the version of Romulus that appears in Sister Solaris's part of the Dark Astoria story. So, you either have to run that last mission of her arc 100 times, or wait for the new arc to come out. When that'll be, I have no idea. On a completely unrelated note, check in this weekend...
  7. That's actually already an existing badge name! You get it for defeating one of us or any other Dev/HC team member in PvP (I think you also get it for defeating someone with said badge, to make sure it can proliferate when we're not on).
  8. I've found that a good rule of thumb, for older missions, anyway, is to figure out which trainline would be the bigger pain in the butt to get to before the lines were merged. For example, if you're in Atlas, and a mission takes you to Steel Canyon, go to the North end/green line. Because back in the day, the devs would have counted on you going to the south/yellow station and having to hoof it all the way across the zone. Of course, this requires a bit of old school knowledge, but you can always check the city map to see which train line is which and try to figure out where your current train would and wouldn't take you, and make your decision from there. 🙂
  9. I'm gonna move this to the bug report forum, though I'm 99% sure it's a known issue 😃
  10. Hey, welcome home! Also, moved thread to the Archetypes section, seeing as it's a comparison of different ATs/builds.
  11. Hey all! So, this thread should probably be in the PvP forum; I left it in General for a day to gain some insight from non PvPers, but I'll be moving it to its proper place now 😃
  12. This sounds a lot more like a suggestion, so, moved to Suggestions forum 🙂
  13. This suggestion has popped up every now and again since the Live days. Ultimately, it's never acted upon, as the zones exist primarily for PvP. If you want the goodies the zone offers, you have to take the risk that you're going to be defeated. And, I get it: sometimes the anxiety of it POSSIBLY happening is worse than when it actually occurs, making the jaunts through these zones emotionally taxing and very unenjoyable (even when nothing bad happens). That said, it's normally a very SMALL risk. With the exception of Recluse's Victory, there's almost never anyone to worry about in any of the PvP zones. I can't count the number of times I've gotten nukes and shivans without seeing another player in the zone. The number of times I ran into someone I've had to worry about could probably be counted on one hand. So, trust me, I'm sure you'll be okay going off to find badges and such.
  14. You can always check on our Discord, as well. In addition to displaying who's online, there's a special header labeled "On Duty" that will show which GMs are currently in game or otherwise available to assist. It's not a perfect system; sometimes I forget to sign in... or out, but generally it works pretty well.
  15. Hey! I realize this is a Sentinel-specific idea, but still, such threads do belong in the Suggestions sub-forum. Thank you. (Also, this is a nice idea; I hope the Devs take it under consideration!)
  16. Well, that's why I said "Just on themselves" =P The amount of hilarity that would ensue with everyone renaming each other would be something to see, but it'd also get old pretty quick too, I imagine 😃
  17. Just chiming in here to lend a bit of a technical perspective: Names CAN be changed mid-game. I've done it to myself several times when doing RP events. However, the command to do so currently requires GM-level access (as it can be done to anyone, all I did was point the command at myself). Even if we freed up this command for people to use on just themselves, there would still be the issue of reserving names. Even if you hot-swapped, it could cause a bit of confusion about what names are currently available (Imagine someone making a character "AwesomeDude" while someone else is renaming themselves that and the reservation feature doesn't work?) Also, as a GM, I'd find my job a bit tougher if people kept renaming themselves. I could imagine a few sneaky jerks trying to get away with stuff (luckily, most people are diligent enough to record global names when reporting others for misbehavior). But here's a maybe-workable idea: Badge Titles. It's already possible use a macro to set your badge title to correspond with a costume change. Granted, badge titles are in smaller text and oftentimes may not have the names you want, plus you'd have to collect them all first... but maybe that's something you can work with?
  18. While this would be cool, the MAIN issue is that right now, is that NPC appearance is randomized. If we just made a demon NPC, there's a high chance they'd spawn as a normal person, and a low chance that human NPCs in bases would be replaced by a demon (assuming like 1 demon model mixed in with the 20 or so random presets) The devs would have to make a set of demon-specific NPCs and emotes for them, and even then, they'd randomize every time you loaded into your base. Either that, or figure out an entirely new system for NPC selection, placement and emoting. Either way, not exactly low hanging fruit. Not that it will never happen, just not the kind of thing that can happen quickly with a small volunteer staff.
  19. Alright, look. "/jranger" IS allowed. It's a CoH-related meme, and as others have said, is oftentimes a more welcome response than what's actually on the other person's mind. I mean, I'd rather people engage in thoughtful constructive criticism, but as I've said before, some people are too in love with their ideas to take ANY criticism, and others can't let go of someone being WRONG on the INTERNET to engage respectfully. So, happy medium. But, on a semi-related note, I'm going to address a trend I've been seeing more and more around here, and in this thread specifically: I am placing a moratorium on the use of the word "triggered". (Also trigger, triggering, etc) It's a term that should only be used when discussing the effects of PTSD, some forms of which are considered a disability. Since our CoC does not allow discrimination against the disabled, the use of the word "triggered" as an insult is grounds for moderator action. Speaking of the CoC, I'm also seeing some veiled semi-racism sprouting up, so I'm locking this thread down before the semi gets dropped.
  20. This thread has devolved into bickering, so, locking it. Thank you for the suggestion.
  21. Moved to base forum per request! I was half and half as to whether this should go in Bases, or Arts & Multimedia. If you decide to expand your content to include more than just bases, let me know and I can move the thread again 😃
  22. If you want to post an event, go to the Calendar: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/calendar/ And hit "Create Event"; then you should be able to select a name, date(s) it's being run and make a post, which will be linked to when people click the name on the calendar, An event won't show up until a GM approves it, thought! Also, sorry for the late reply, this got away from me!
  23. I'm not 100% sure on the mechanics, to be honest; the fact that you already cannot use emotes while resting either means that something about "rest" interrupts emotes anyway (like if you're emoting and suddenly get hit by a buff or an attack, it stops), OR, it's just flagged to ignore emotes? I don't see anything in City of Data though... Hopefully, it would be an easy fix. My only worry is people would emote while resting, forget they have Rest toggled, and be very confused/upset why their character isn't responding to the controls anymore!
  24. Hey, completely off-topic *cough*, have you played the ASF? The part where you fight Apex? Next time you do, just... keep a close eye on him. We now return to your regularly scheduled topic, already in progress 😃
