Hid several posts. Let's go back to talking about how the ITF is too easy, hmm? Also, know that we are planning to port the Enhanced Difficulty Options being introduced with the Aeon Strike Force to other content, including the ITF, sometime in the future.

Aeon Strike Force Spoilers (Without Context!)
GM Impervium replied to GM Impervium's topic in Open Beta Testing
Ha! The only "hidden thing" I intentionally put in that blurb was "the fifth or sixth this week", which is when we're pushing page 3 onto Brainstorm (at the time of writing, there seemed to be a little uncertainty about the exact date. I neglected to edit it properly after the official announcement was posted). But good catch otherwise! -
Aeon Strike Force Spoilers (Without Context!)
GM Impervium replied to GM Impervium's topic in Open Beta Testing
On a more serious note, please do not post actual spoilers outside of the beta forums or #Beta-testing-discussion on Discord; some people may not want to see it all until it goes live! If you must, make sure to use spoiler tags! -
Kalinda sighed, looking at the fallen Fortunata at her feet. The fifth or sixth this week. They had all been assigned to work on Project: DESTINY, but something was now horribly wrong. As they would attempt to gaze into the near future, they'd instantly cry in pain and fall dead, with only a bare scrap of information shared among their psychic link before they were cut off. Kalinda had been "collecting" these "scraps", but couldn't make sense of them. It all looked like random numbers? Was her own mind protecting her from whatever lethally maddening images that killed her Fortunatas? No, wait... not numbers... just ones and zeros. Binary code, perhaps? She sat at a terminal, ignoring the dead body nearby and began to work like a woman possessed, compiling the bare code in whatever way seemed to make the most sense. By the time Kalinda came to, she had been without sleep for days, but the work was done... or so she thought. The code had translated into images... but what did they mean? She now had even more questions than answers, and she dared not report to Ghost Widow when she now had less than nothing. With an angry sigh, Kalinda pushed herself away from the terminal to get some much needed rest, unaware that she'd left the image open to prying eyes...

ToHit (iirc) is generally the better way to go, though harder to find. Not many set bonuses offer a ToHit bonus, and set bonuses that offer +Acc are a dime a dozen. Note that the Kismet: +6% Accuracy IO actually buffs your ToHit, despite it's name, and it goes into defense powers, so that's definitely a must-slot! Other sources of ToHit are Build up (in the case of MA, it's called Focus Chi), Tactics, and the Focused Accuracy power from the Body Mastery Epic pool. Though these are all powers and not enhancements, and nothing's going to stop you from having 5% chance of missing, so you don't have to go nuts fitting everything into your build.

Simple guide for newcomers. Money making amongst other things.
GM Impervium replied to Sovera's topic in Guides
It means things like Accuracy, Damage, Recharge, etc. The aspects or particular features of the power that the enhancement improves. -
There's also a Vanguard Quartermaster, if you have more of a sci-fi thing going for your base. Nurses also sell inspirations and will buy from you, as well.

Playerslot.txt What's the point of it?
GM Impervium replied to Bill Z Bubba's topic in Help & Support
So, the text file IS supposed to be editable to allow your characters to appear in whatever order you'd like, so long as you have "remember username" checked when you log in, and you have write permission for the folder that it's in. And yes, you change the number at the end of each line, not the physical location of the line. Personally, I find it easier to just to drag and drop characters in the character select screen itself, though I can see how that wouldn't be a workable solution for someone with dozens of pages worth of characters. If it pleases, though, @Michiyo wrote a little utility to help with this: https://cityofheroes.dev/charsorter/charsorter.zip It's not digitally signed, so, use at your "own risk", but it's just a UI for editing the text file in a nicer way. -
You WHAT o_o Kidding aside, I'm glad you've sorted the issue. While we've made plenty of stability updates, this IS still a nearly 20 year old engine, so generally speaking, you should always aim to do more with less!

Playerslot.txt What's the point of it?
GM Impervium replied to Bill Z Bubba's topic in Help & Support
So, I don't know the full answer, and that's something I'll ask about because now I'm curious, but I do know that when players have an issue where one of their characters has disappeared, deleting this file fixes the issue 99% of the time. So if I were to GUESS, it's some kind of pre-cache so that the client doesn't have to pull the name data from the server every time you switch characters. Not a huge deal these days, but since the game was coded back when many people were still on dial-up (shudder), every bit and byte counts! But yeah, I'll get the real answer later 😃 -
A new install woulsn't hurt, but random Crashes to Desktop are usually indicative of a hardware issue. Does this happen in any other games or resource-heavy applications?

Electrical Blast / Electricity Manipulation Blaster
GM Impervium replied to Small Onez's topic in Blaster
Two things. First, moved to Blaster sub forum 😃 Second, I beleive the devs have been workshopping some ideas for Electric Blast. Nothing concrete or guaranteed, obviously, but just throwing that out there so you don't retire the character, and all of a sudden we release a patch that would have made them more fun to play! -
Official Unofficial Guess what's in Page 3 discussion
GM Impervium replied to 0th Power's topic in General Discussion
Speculation is fun and all, but I'm going to remind people who KNOW not to spill any beans (that haven't already been spilt)! Not because we want to "wow!" people with a surprise (though that's part of it), but we also don't want to disappoint in case we can't deliver on something, or a proposed powerset isn't what people expected/were hoping for. That said, we hope to have something to share with you all Soon (tm)!- 57 replies

Hey @Opine! If you're using the Homecoming launcher, it SHOULD produce a crash report screen when the game crashes, and give you options on what kind of crash report to send. If it's not doing this, something is terribly wrong. Either there's software interfering with the game, or you have hardware failure going on. If you're comfortable navigating through Windows, I'll need you to run some tests and send me some files for us to look at to determine the cause of your issues. First, hit the Windows button, or use the windows search function, and type "dxdiag" (without the quotes), and click dxdiag.exe when it comes up. If it gives you the option, run the 64 bit test. Once it's done, click the "Save all information" button, and save the text file it creates somewhere you'll be able to find it (like on your Desktop) Open this file up (in notepad or whatever), and delete any personal information like your real name, save the file, then send it to me via private message. Do NOT post the dxdiag report in this thread!

Also, they tend to hang out in little nooks and crannies under the road, so just doing an aerial sweep won't always cut it. You'll have to find small paths leading under ground.

Orange Banner Across the Top of Forums
GM Impervium replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Website Suggestions & Feedback
We had a minor outage this morning, and that banner either automatically popped up, or was copypasta'd from the last time. In either case, just hitting the little x should make it go away, and I'm sure a lead will be by soon to turn it back off now that we're up again. -
Also, there's badges for selling items on the AH, many of which grant additional market slots. Otherwise, it's a cheeky way to earn some cash: place tons of bids for half (or less) of the vendor price, wait a day or two, then sell it all to the vendor and cash in!

More incentive for badge collection
GM Impervium replied to cotesan's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
We JUST gave you one more! It brought the total to a nice even number and everything! Man, people are so ungrateful... =P But yeah, there should be a few more in store with the upcoming page, so stay tuned! -
@Erratic1 A couple things I know can do this: Copying a character to test, Adding, promoting or demoting them in your SG, Anything else that might cause the database to "ping" the character for info. If you still suspect something is wrong, please change your game and forum passwords. You may also submit a support ticket, and a GM might be able to poke into your account history to see if different I.P.s accessed it.

More incentive for badge collection
GM Impervium replied to cotesan's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The entire point of locking cosmetics behind progression on Live was to ensure that customers continued to pay for an ongoing service. You couldn't look exactly how you wanted out of the gate, you had to be level 20 to get your cape, 30 to get an aura, and had to do certain missions or earn merits to be able to use certain costume pieces. On each character. And you had to keep paying a monthly subscription to get these carrots at the ends of the sticks. Or buy them from the micro transaction store when they added THAT. This was all put in place for the developers and publisher to make money. Homecoming has no financial incentive to keep people playing, we're all just here for the love of the game, so we have no reason to dangle these carrots. Capes, auras, etc, everything unlocked at level one, with no further investment needed. That's how we do things, and that's not changing. We understand that some people ENJOY the carrot-dangling, or would like a more visible way to show off their accomplishments (hypothetically: a special cape you only get once you have over 1,000 badges so everyone knows how cool YOU are), but for most players, that won't fly. Or teleport, super-jump, or run at super-speed. We've already cultivated an expectation of making things more accessible (capes, auras, costume parts, rent-and-requirement-free bases, easier access to Incarnates, etc), and going back on that would be the 3rd worst thing we could do. That said, if people wish to continue to discuss the merits of one view or another, fine, but keep it civil and non-argumentative. Thank you!- 52 replies

Those were changes made in the last big update, not sure why they would be showing up again now. -
