The usual answer to such problems is to just make your own team, with your own rules. However, getting any random player to actually follow said rules is another matter entirely...

I'm sure the 50 players who all want the exact same edgy name will still be disappointed when only one of them can have it.

My advice is, make whatever build nobody else seems to be making then make the HELL out of it! Flesh out the bio, come up with a good theme and a costume. Since you've likely got "The Funds", throw in as many Purple sets as it will hold, ATO's, Winter sets, build in MIDS then throw money at any perceived problems, and find a way to play it which makes others say, "Damn. I never thought that combo could ever even DO that." Remember that this is a 20 year old sunset game being upkept by a supremely awesome crew. There are likely more missions in game than I personally will ever actually take the time to finish, so these days I find my own fun. Make a character that stands out, one that makes others laugh, regardless I try to make them my own. Whatever you do remember, games are supposed to be fun. Unless they're your job, then I guess they're work. Anyhow, if you find that you're not having fun doing anything at all in your free time, I advise you find something else which is fun to you, and then do the HELL out of it.

I believe this was the plot of the movie Lifeforce, starring Sir Patrick Stewart. It's a movie about a voluptuous, naked space vampire who is brought back to Earth from an asteroid, and she then stalks the streets of... where was I? Oh yeah, naked vampire women in London. Get on that funky new mix, Warren Zevon!

Fire/Sonic Corrupter. You toggle an aoe -Res on the main Melee aggro, pop shields every 4 minutes(or zone change for cheat extra buffs), and spend most of your time blasting.

I always just deal with the situation as it evolves. If others are using Fold Space to chew up mobs, then I go knock on doors and leave the slaughter to others. That said, it can be aggravating when you've just fired off Aim and Build Up and are about to hit that t9 power and nuke a group which, as you press the button, is no longer there. -BOOM- Empty space and the sound of crickets.

I am all in favor of getting more of the stuffs.

So here's what you do, see? You tell General Chat that you're going to <Name of PVP Zone>, be sure you're anonymous, then go to the real PVP zone you want the badges in. If there are any PVP'ers out there, they'll go to the zone you "accidentally" told General about, and miss you completely. 😁

Half the fun of PUGs are those moments when it appears that all is lost, a probable team wipe, but then one or two players miraculously manage to pull it off and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Don't ever back him into a corner. There's a comic where Spider-Man gets trapped in an alley by Firelord, a former Herald of Galactus. By the time the Avengers show up they have to pull Spider-Man off a badly beaten, nearly dead Firelord. 😁

Accounting for every possible slot/enhancement combination, I'd wager the number is greater than the number of particles in the known universe.

For me, playing any game always comes down to one thing: Fun. When it's no longer fun, then I find something else to do with my time. I still have fun in CoH, mostly making character alts these days. The hardest part after years of altitis is, "Which one to play today?"

Glad to hear this from GM Crumpet, it seems my League of Lincolns and Legion of Lincolns are safe, good and evil versions respectively, all from parallel universes where Lincoln didn't die, but other strange events happened instead. My concept for them is "Too Many Lincolns", I need to make an AE story of it sometime, something something too many, something something temporal paradox incoming. 🤪

It's a hard lesson to learn, that honesty is the best policy, but you've taken this step and admitted your actions to those who were affected by them. It's never easy to ask forgiveness from others, but it can be far more difficult to forgive yourself. I know this all too well from my own life, sans details... People may still be upset about what happened. I don't know as I've no part in any of it, but I guarantee that anyone who knew you from before, and thought you were dead, then found out that you weren't, will likely be ecstatic to know that you didn't actually die! Take it easy, and be sure to forgive yourself. Even if that may be the hardest thing for you to do, it's essential for your own mental health. That's my two cents as I lurk around these forums, loitering while walking... Welcome back!

I have a feeling that these taken names are a list of the same exact 50ish names that literally thousands of players will claim to have some ownership of, names which are far too common no doubt.
