  1. Yeah, that part of vigilance is a bit odd across all the defenders: The better you're doing at your job, the less end discount you're getting out of it. It's meant to be there as a sort of panic offset. Outside of that, Vigilance doesn't have a lot to offer.
  2. Just for clarity, are you asking about animation time here?
  3. Neither exist on Praetorian Earth. There was a suggestion about making it work not long ago.
  4. Have you given the Dominator set a proper go, Troo? The energy release mechanic isn't particularly intrusive. It's not like Dual Blades and is mild even compared with Street Justice.
  5. Devs still hate redside confirmed.
  6. Welcome Home!!! 🎈
  7. I think it's well known that Hamidon is out there. What isn't known is that it's intelligent and struck a deal with Cole.
  8. Larger Praetorian arc level ranges has been high on my wishlist from the start. It gets really messy really fast when you outlevel a contact.
  9. Butterscotch pudding. (He did specify just ONE person. I saved the thread!)
  10. We can all agree that Regen needs to be nerfed though, right?
  11. Assuming no technical obstacle, would alternate animations suffice?
  12. I think this is an extremely difficult metric to define and even harder to measure. Maybe even too abstract to be useful? Say we had the hypothetical clearly-way-too-OP-set and some people loved it, but it gets nerfed down to a baseline. Of course you'll have voices rise up against the nerf, but what you won't have are people explicitly stating they're more content because the game has no longer been made overwhelmingly trivial by other players. People don't tend to express positive sentiments as verbosely as negative sentiments (edit: I think the world would be a better place if they did). There's no way of knowing whether the change that has been made has affected more people for the better. Even less so from the players' perspective. Having said that, I don't think every nerf has been good (looking at you, EM), nor do I think every buff has been good (looking at you, incarnate powers).
  13. In my eyes, that would work really well if there were regularly separate objectives for the team to manage, sort of in the manner of the Summer Blockbuster. Usually, though, it's just the one glowy, named boss or hostage that everyone barrels towards in a ball of destruction. That's something I'd categorise as the game being better at fighting back. I'd love to see stuff like that regardless of balance. Big ask, though.
  14. Ooh, interesting thread! There's a very tiny factor of 'competition' to consider, which is that a character that can single-handedly tear down 4x8 groups in a very short amount of time might be removing the chance for their teammates to play the game. Using the word competition very loosely there, as a sort of passive, natural state rather than players actively trying to outdo each other. A hypothetical OP set that could obliterate enemies faster than the other 7 members of the team combined would need to be nerfed against that factor. But I don't think we're in that situation - some might disagree. However, I've always held that balancing against that factor doesn't necessarily need to be alterations to the characters themselves, but to the ways that the game can fight back. I think it's good to have generally well balanced formulae between powersets, so that the huge variety of options all feel really good to play in the context of other players. But there are more sets that need to be buffed up to that balance than those that could be nerfed down.
  15. Yeah, the writers really pinned out how to do compelling recurring characters with Faultline. I'd love that sort of character writing to permeate across all the old content.
  16. If folks are frustrated, it's ok to vent. Odd choice of a thread to do it in though. I don't think it needs to become an argument. I go on the assumption that HC is running at full speed and at full clarity that they're comfortable with. Both of those capacities can change dramatically due to circumstances. And this was 2020, the year of circumstances. I'm sure players will react differently as things change.
  17. Aww, it's so cute and cozy!
  18. Thank you for loving someone with the disorder, that makes me very happy! I meant the moods can feel like they're in conflict with each other.
  19. I think a little cleaning is in order...
  20. As a person with bipolar disorder, I can confirm it is possible.
  21. Oh, I think it changed quite dramatically. That was the expertise stat, I think, which is now gone from the game. I think more recently it relied more on the other stats. Gear matters in ranked PvP but not/less in unranked. Not that I think that would translate well into CoH. SWTOR's 8 classes x 3 specialisms isn't comparable with the couple thousand character combinations in CoH. But I did enjoy SWTOR unranked PvP a lot.
  22. Since it got bought up, I'm trying to remember how unranked PvP worked on SWTOR. Does everyone get bolstered to more or less the same stats and effectiveness or something like that? Or did gear matter?
  23. I suspect 'anti' has been misused a few times to mean 'don't PvP' rather than 'against the concept of PvP' a few times.
  24. This may just be a natural result of a low-ish overall player population. Was it similar on the legacy servers, when there were more shards and a larger playerbase?
  25. I feel like the restaurant metaphor is getting thin. Edit: Maybe it should eat more. Edit 2: No other restaurant makes CoH PvPizza.
