  1. I'm not sure I've seen anyone losing their minds. A lot more bafflement at the phenomenon, whichever way you look at it. It's hard to get a finger on how much this manipulation (if that is what's happening) is benefitting anyone. Scummy behavior is aggrevating in principle, even if the impact is negligible. Though I've got the other foot in the camp of thinking the supply has dropped. Hard to tell with the seeded salvage added to the total.
  2. Live was pretty different. I was around a lot less often on live, with significantly less time in my life to play. I wasn't very clued in to the market, but even trying to muscle it out I couldn't make much headway at all towards a build. Toward sunset the game economy was too impregnable to be worth the time, so I stopped. The lower point of entry thanks to converters flips that entirely for me. If I had to farm a build out or play the market like on live, I'd have stopped bothering by now. I'm also amazed to see an MMO economy stay practically stable for so long. Even this blip with yellow salvage isn't capable of getting out of hand.
  3. By the same token, it means that several otherwise worthless uncommon recipes now have a higher selling value when crafted, even without needing to convert them. The chance of picking up an LOTG is low but the chance of picking up any defence set is higher, so the new system puts random loot more on the player's side. I can be fairly confident that every yellow recipe I pick up will net me at least 1.5mil unless the roulette hates me. It's more or less my main income and it's plenty for me. Being able to reliably profit from playing just about anything is excellent.
  4. That's some juicy, mask of truthy gossip!
  5. Colour me shocked to see anyone suggesting otherwise.
  6. Aw man, I thought this thread was going to be filled with the latest hot gossip. Anyone wanna derail this thread with me and share the latest hot gossip?
  7. Deal breaker. My epeen is all I have.
  8. I like your main idea. That's a nice little quality of life thing. I disagree here. The mechanical attractiveness of flight is the convenience and the unlimited 3D movement that SS lacks. It also has a little more combat utility, allowing you to avoid melee. SS is taking a bigger hit in terms of navigating Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. An extra power to meet that speed and the convenience is a good tradeoff. I don't think speed is the only factor when comparing travel powers.
  9. Well, the effort involved changes dramatically if you're letting a bot do the work. Once you've done the front end work of setting up the script, you could leave the game on to run by itself for a few days. I imagine by the end of it you'd have made a substantial profit from thousands of tiny sales. If that were the case, that would be breaking the code of conduct: 7. Do not cheat or abuse exploits 2. This includes the use of scripts and programs to automate gameplay I wonder if the behaviour is easily identifiable. Edit: Of course, it might not be, and we might just be seeing a quirk of the market - especially a market that only shows the last 5 sales, encouraging higher bids.
  10. Just reread this post and noticed the redsider perspective. I approve. Represent!
  11. I design all my builds for an estimated <100 inf budget, since I have a rule that all my characters must fund themselves, so I get them to an achievable plateau before decking them out. I'd be happy to start posting them, but I often build for odd gimmicks rather than optimisation.
  12. It's still around. I found that mission not long ago. It was my very first signature AV encounter on live, so it's baked in to my nostalgia. Love it. I like Oranbega. I like it mostly when I'm by myself. The original maps didn't consider the scale needed for multiple heroes against 8x groups to use the space omnidirectionally. Blue caves is a bigger offender. But solo, I like to explore Oranbega. You can tell how much they learned that lesson on the Praetorian maps. Lots of room to jump around, even in the corridors.
  13. You kidding? If this happens, then this will become the actual gameplay. Everything else will be what's screwing up. I'm in.
  14. I don't see it a whole lot differently, and I have RP in mind with the suggestion that players opt themselves in, as well as a leader-set flag. Plus, pinching a bit of the arena interface could mean setting up teams, which would need a bit of out-of-combat organisation. You could build bases with a capture the flag kind of deal. Or nemesis-staff-soccer. Folks would come up with PvP ideas that don't just involve punching one another. It'd be great fun!
  15. Bases have a few functions, so toggling it as either open pvp or not seems a little ham-fisted to me. I'm just thinking something as simple as an arena terminal or even a command that allows individuals to opt in. That way we can have a breather after loading in, do our business if we need to, and spectate if we don't want to be involved. It'd open up homebrew gamemodes too.
  16. It would have to be an opt-in kinda deal. I think it could be fun. It would be great to come along as a spectator and see what arenas people build.
  17. Come to Reunion. You won't find drama here. Heck, you'll hardly even find people here. It's very chill.
  18. Folks are usually pretty helpful in the game, and I seldom see people with needless expectations of other players. Don't worry about feeling green, I'm sure you'll have a friendly time. Welcome back!
  19. Seems like a heck of a lot of effort for a very low impact. Even if I started buying at the seeded value, I'd still usually spend more on the actual crafting fee and still make plenty of profit. All it means is that it can take a little longer to fulfil bids. Lord knows the effort of this manipulation can't be worth it. I wonder if someone's made a script to do all the clicking for them?
  20. I can't find any evidence or discussion of that. Where are you finding that information? That'd be a pretty substantial thing for devs to try and sneak through, and I'm not sure why they would.
  21. Yes. Do it. I don't see nearly enough airborne hellions these days.
  22. These statements are even funnier now that I've learned the term 'underwear toggle'.
  23. You're a champ. That's excellent news.
  24. Brill, thanks guys! That's all I needed to hear.
  25. I've had a KM/Bio Scrapper sitting on my lvl 50 shelf for a long time. I really want to like the character because he's cool and has a cool name. But them big ol' hello windmills, man. I can't be dealing. I can't bring myself to play the character just because of the wacky whoosh whoosh woosh pop. It's a little too hard to tell without actively testing it, but if I build a KM/Bio scrapper and skip Concentrated Strike, am I shooting myself in the foot? I know it has the chance to recharge power siphon. Would I be missing out, or could I get away with it?
