  1. The surgeon general recommends keeping steam away from your privates (and lieutenants!), even if Gwyneth Paltrow has a contrary opinion.
  2. AUTOMATONS! Mayor of Paragon City during the early 20th Century, Michael James "Spanky" Rabinowitz maintained control of the city’s politics for nearly thirty years. He was supported by Southern United Manufacturing Company, which the Statesman later revealed to be a front for the villain Nemesis.
  3. That's exactly how Spanky Rabinowitz locked down the automaton vote to be elected Mayor of Paragon City. Four times!
  4. This came to me in a fever dream, so bear with me. I am perfectly content with using the tools we have to manage the risks we face, but I see a lot of posts on this section and elsewhere that demonstrates many people are not. Rather than advocate an approach that says, "Everyone gets the best advantages from every set," I was thinking of some sort of trade-off in the form of giving up power picks and/or slots. I haven't gotten into any ideas of amounts or balance or how/if these could be slotted, but I was thinking something like: Lvl 4: Regeneration Resistance To Hit Debuff Resistance Lvl 14: Status Effect Protection Recovery Debuff Resistance Defense Debuff Resistance Just an idle idea. You'd still be restricted to choosing at most four different pools, and you'd need two (or more) picks to reach the really useful stuff.
  5. Spend it all in candy in the /AH and drive up prices so the orphans can't afford it anymore.
  6. I've been thinking about the possibility of a "drive the converter market higher" strategy. At this point, between merits and converters in Character Items and on various accounts, I'd estimate I've got the equivalent of about 100k converters, so I'm not going to sweat it. But then I started wondering how price elastic the converter market is? If prices went to 100k consistently, I'd probably still buy them on the market. If they went to 333,333 (the equivalent price if you buy converters by buying merits for 1mm a pop), I'd draw down on my stash. But I'm not sure where I would start selling converters. Maybe at 500k? And that would just be an arbitrage play (buy 300 converters for 100mm inf, sell them for 150mm gross and 135mm net). But even then I feel I'd get better value out of using the converters directly.
  7. I, for one, would actually prefer a little more realism. Like some tourist pedestrians get in your way as you're trying to board the train because they are goggle-eyed at being in the big Paragon City, so you barely miss it, and then you have wait for the next train while watching someone urinate on the end of the platform and listen to the announcements incoherently drone about some sort of system delays. That would be cool.
  8. This is correct, according to the Wiki and your diligence, thank you. I think people use a shortcut of assuming a 20+5 is exactly the same as a 25, and honestly, for all intents and purposes it's pretty close.
  9. The unslotter market is rather irrational. Given that you can trade a merit for 3 converters or 2 unslotters, you would expect unslotters to trade at roughly 100k less/plus. But when people want them, they want them right now and pay 150k for them. And when they want to dump them, they want to dump them right away and sell them for less than half that price. And whereas it's simple to get a good price on 100 or 1000 or 10000 converters, the unslotter market is much much thinner since they aren't as universally useful. It's rather moot for me, since I have something like 5k of the damned things sitting in my Character Items.
  10. I haven't actually tested this, but here's how I think it works. You can buy Level 20 PMs, and boost them to +5. I don't remember offhand what that enhancement level works out to be, but I suspect it is well below level 50 base enhancements. You can slot these at level 17 and they will provide the same benefit all the way to 50 and beyond. You can buy level 50 PMs, and boost them to +5. You can slot them at level 47, but if you exemplar below that level you lose all benefits of the slotting? This is what I think happens but I've never bothered to test it. If a set runs to 50, I'll almost always get an attuned version because, well, I prefer the way they look. If I'm using a set that caps before 50, like Cloud Senses, I'll often buy them at 30 and boost them to +5. I rarely exemplar below 27, and if I do it's almost certainly because I'm on a team and I can afford to lose the benefits because, lol, I'm on a team and I could be a rikti monkey and no one would notice. LotG +rech have both a defense element that scales by level and a recharge element which does not, so generally you are best off getting it at max level (or attuned).
  11. Who said I was relisting at *higher* prices? Boy, if that gets your spandex bloomers in a twist, wait until you read my memoirs, "I Was a Teenage Market Maker: The Harrowing Adventures of the Invisible Hand." There's some stuff in there that will turn your hair blue!
  12. I have one alt I don't like playing who does nothing but flip unslotters. She's done very well for herself at Wentworths.
  13. I'll be honest. Almost every character I have that hits 35 hits Vanguard first, and then goes redside (if they weren't already) to open patron pools. For me, it's just a free option and I have to fight slightly more difficult enemies for a short time. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out why I would take Mace Mastery. I get Scorpion Shield. It's a defense shield, as opposed to a resistance shield. But other than that, why is my character better off pulling out an Arachnos Mace? This is not a contest, just a legit query.
  14. It's been clear that one or more people have been doing so, but I wouldn't say dumping. Big blocks are coming in, but not at 5 inf prices.
  15. Perhaps, but this effect is most noticeable with warwolves and crey and I don't see it with, say, Council or Carnies, so, hmm?
  16. I suspect that these are the same mobs that, when stunned, wander aimlessly at *extremely* *high* *speeds*.
  17. Volatility and wide spreads benefit the market makers. "For we are the market makers. And we are the dreamer of dreams." -- Willy Wonka (or possibly Yomo)
  18. Mastermind?!? Oh no no no. I'm just a simple businessperson, working on my own, trying to keep everyone (especially myself) happy. *hush up, minions! I'm still on broadcast!*
  19. I do a lot of really nice things, but actually I've never returned inf for a fat finger trade. Lots of other people do. It's partly because I think people should be responsible for their own mistakes, but mainly because most of the time I deal in bulk and at speed and it would be difficult for me to identify the specific lot.
  20. Support? You mean like a dark melee/shield scrapper?!?
  21. If only they would give it to tanks they would double the radius.
  22. gotcha, I used the wrong name, you should have it now.
  23. I'm tracking who got paid already in my edited post above. If I marked you as paid but you didn't get an email, let me know!
