  1. I feel like this isn't just about people playing the way they want to but also about wanting others to play the way they want.
  2. I don't see a problem with anachronistic costume pieces because comic books are full of time travelers, virtual immortals, and people that just rock those old-fashioned looks for whatever other reason. It doesn't just seem reasonable that some characters seem trapped in the 80s, I almost expect it of some.....and some being trapped in the 70s, 60s, or even the 1800s.
  3. Origin powers are dumb. Throwing blades is natural? Why? Can't the blades be magical? Mutagen is mutation origin? Why can't my science origin create a mutagen? Oh, right, they can because origin powers aren't restricted to origins anymore. They're nothing more than thematic additions, which I think can be cool, but I prefer that the thematics stay flexible enough to let anyone take whatever fits their character concepts.
  4. I really despise this policy. I like some of what some of the other servers do, and I also hate some of what they do. I like some of what HC does and am not a fan of other things. And there is no one server that has all the things I want, so basically I have to pick one or another or play on multiple, and the powers that be can go pound sand for making me have to choose any of those options. Instead of not trying to replicate each other's work, do your own thing and if another group has already done it, just do it your own way... or maybe acknowledge that they had a good idea that's worth copying. At the end of the day, none of them should be treated like their work is untouchable because they did it because all of them, HC included, are still essentially playing around with someone else's sandbox. Sure, HC got the license, but that doesn't make the game theirs.
  5. I don't see the problem with kicking with invisible legs. I'm also against the argument that a lot of the costume items are restricted for clipping because there are plenty that still clip that are allowed, and sometimes people can do things with the clipping that makes sense for their character concept. But instead, arbitrary restrictions were set in place because someone decided that SOME of the clipping is unacceptable. It's a weak argument, and I'm not having it.
  6. Seems like a little hypocrisy on some level. They "can't" do this without recoding the powers for aesthetic reasons, but also the aesthetics are just fine under specific circumstances... it's fine, there's no issue here whatsoever.
  7. released: Body Shot
  8. This is absolutely untrue as evidenced by that floating torso freaklok temp power we can get at Halloween (and maybe as a reward for trading prismatics). Technically, there are still legs there but they are invisible, but anyone --even martial arts and street justice characters withtheir kicks-- can use this costume effect without visible legs to deliver the kicks. Now whether or not the devs want to allow kicking without legs outside of this costume power effect is entirely up to them, but there is no need to recode anything to accomodate the appearance of leglessness.
  9. I think trying to pigeonhole it as something for everyone but heroes was where the merit was called into question. The real issue with the request --as with all things-- is where do we get the animation from? Remember, this is all now a volunteer project with no finances permitted except the donations to keep the servers paid for. That means no funds to develop new animations, effects, or other resources. That's not to say that nothing new can be added (see innertube emotes), but anything that does get added will likely be a developer pet project that they want to work on and devote their time to without getting paid for the effort, and then on top of that get through whatever internal approval process they have in place to get things added.
  10. The other differences between the TF and regular arc is that there is no locked in TF mode until it's complete so you can do other mission content in between, including joining other teams for whatever content they are doing. There's also the lack of the TF-associated badge(s), and the ability to visit the START vendor for whatever you might want in the middle of the arc while in the TF you can only do this in Pocket D.
  11. I went into the character creation screen to check details in the costume items, and when I was clicking the back button to return to the character select screen, I got stopped at the Powers tab telling me I must choose my archetype to continue. If I were continuing, I could see an argument made for no don't do this but I wasn't trying to continue I was backtracking. Yes, it's easier enough to click the archetype tab and then continue clicking Back or just jump right to the Origin tab and Back out from there.....but what is the point of stopping the player with a lack of Back or Forward buttons at the Archetype choice screen? For that matter, why do we NEED to select an Origin to move forward? The face that we can jump straight to the costume editor proves that we don't need to select an AT to continue. The fact that we can skip over the power choices and then be directed to select powers before we can proceed to the powers customization tab shows that it's possible to have the game sense what's missing before proceeding to next necessary steps. No Origin? No problem.....just make it so player can't enter the game until they go back and choose an origin. And take away the AT choice requirement notice when going forward or back in the tabs.
  12. Would be cool to see the new force field effect mapped onto the rotating Victorian Decor aura style where the hex pattern seems to move around on the affected portions of the body. Any chance you could reproduce that effect, whether as an aura or tier 3 reward?
  13. I'll allow it 😎
  14. I like the idea of a scheduled, rare double XP event.....maybe dropped into an occasional weekend between holiday events. July is coming, maybe that would be a good time for it since our previous "summer event" was the Summer Blockbuster trial and that's become an all-year round standard, so we don't have anything special going on. Bring back the fireworks temp power from New Year's and let people run around popping off to show their approval or disapproval at the increased XP during a 3-day holiday weekend but then it goes away and the people that don't want it can be glad to not have to deal with it again for the rest of the year.
  15. Aimee is becoming digital folklore. Definitely love the sound of the new song and its creepy/disturbing lyrical vibe. Interesting concept, but I can dig it. The music's not really my style but it suits her.
  16. I haven't noticed a noteworthy difference in tank performance. But, to be fair, I saw the patch notes and just decided not to play my tanks anymore.
  17. B.W.I. investigating a suspicious figure at [251.0 57.7 3733.1] in Kallisti Wharf. Early reports say he is protected by an impenetrable energy barrier.
  18. Ehhh... so? Zoning in to a fight is more problematic because there could be a delay between showing up in the zone and when you appear the fight could be right on top of you before you can see what's going on to react. Coming out of the door doesn't require zone loading time and you should be able to react faster.
  19. Why indeed? At least with empathy you have multiple healing options, so while you can't target yourself with a heal you can still use Healing Aura on yourself. At least with force field you have a Personal Force Field option for yourself that is far better protection than Deflection and Insulation Shields for others. At least with poison you can say you're smart enough not to put toxins into yourself for healing.
  20. The only thing about storm summoning that doesn't make sense is the lack of a self heal. Like why are you able to pump healing oxygen into others but unable to grant it to yourself? There's no logic to it. I like the targeted aspect of it over making it a PBAoE but maybe make it a targeted AoE that can affect the caster if they are in range of the target. It wouldn't help solo players unless they have a targetable pet, but it would make the power more versatile.
  21. Maybe move the base portal inside the tower?
  22. Witch broom temp power is the least likely of these suggestions to happen as it would require new custom animations that there is just no budget to develop. Remember, this is a nonprofit set up, so while they can set up donation requests to fund running the game, generating revenue to hire someone to specifically create content like new animations just isn't going to happen. Best we're going to get is recycled stuff and the occasional freebie that the developers are able to pull off on the own, like when they gave us the innertube emote. Domestic cat vanity pet seems doable. Elf and other ears clipping with hoods, along with a host of other options that clip should be made available but aren't for what I'm guessing are misguided "quality" concerns. They should open up all the options and let players decide what works instead of telling us what they think doesn't work.
  23. Alignments Hero - the good guys, they do good things to be good and helpful Villain - the bad guys, they do bad things for fun, profit, or any number of bad reasons Rogue - sorta bad guys, they usually do bad things but are known to cross the line and do good things.....so not all bad Vigilante - sorta the good guys, they want good guy results but are more than willing to engage in bad guy tactics and acts to achieve them Rogue and Vigilante don't fit neatly into something like a classic D&D alignment architecture. They aren't the neutral alignments between the good and evil ones. Instead, they are a gray area of good guys willing to be bad and bad guys willing to do good, but they cover a pretty wide spectrum. What one vigilante does might be too far over the line for another. Like your vigilante might be willing to murder villains for the sake of justice while others might just be willing to break lesser laws (commit arson or robbery) to either target the villains or even frame them for doing it in light of hard evidence of the villain's plans. The key is not whether or not the action itself is good or evil but rather what end goal does it serve?
