By the sweet, dark, elder gods, thank you! Downloaded that spreadsheet, searched for anythin dark and fear related, and finally that damned high pitched whine from psionic armor, aura of insanity, fear portion is gone! It's one of these 4:

Finally checked it out. Did a fresh copy of my fire/bio sent to test, went and hit a pylon, spammed vulnerability, got 2:50. Logged back into live, repeated the test, 2:54. Should I have noticed something different? Oh, I see, don't click vulnerability for crits. Back to test. Don't click Vulnerability at all: 2:38 Click vulnerability only when circled red: 2:46 Am I doing something wrong here? Based on this (granted VERY tiny sample size,) seems I'm best off by never clicking vulnerability at all.

MiDs continues it's years long downhill slide
Bill Z Bubba replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
Found a way to corrupt my functional Mids' install. I doubleclicked an old format build (.mxd vs new .mdb) and it attempted to launch old Mids' (which I thought I had properly purged to get new Mids' even functional) but that action corrupted new Mids' and now I'm back to being stuck on April's database with the nasty error msg posted earlier when attempting to udpate. Sooo, yea, only open builds from WITHIN Mids' rather than doubleclicking old files. Edit: For gits and shiggles, (Thanks, @Jacke ) I downloaded https://updates.midsreborn.com/full_updates/mids_3.7.15.1%2Bdb_25.11.1232.zip Then I overwrote the contents I had with what was in the zip and now I'm back to DB version 2025.11.1232. Updater now shows no updates available. This also fixed my gaming rig's install. Woot. Also, for those worried about losing builds, make sure they're all saved off to a different location than the program. I'm still using the old location and that never seems to get touched. -
I don't know which dev stated it, nor even if I'm just spreading inaccurate hearsay, but apparently multiple mutually exclusive power pairs in a powerset isn't on the table. Which is a bummer considering that such an option could be used to fix Kheldians for me. But I get it. When I came back after my last break, I noticed the regen rework and asked on my SG's discord, "Is it the general consensus that Reactive Regen is better than Instant Healing?" (The answer was a resounding hell yes.) Point is, I asked. I had to seek out that information. It'll be more confusing the more of these we add in and I generally know what I'm doing. New players diving in with no knowledge of Mids' or City of Data seeing multiple oddities in powersets will be even more lost. On top of that is we don't know whether it's even possible. I have to assume it is since one mutually exclusive pair can be added, why not two, or three? Why can't we have two new mutually exclusive powers in claws for those that think claws having ranged attacks is silly? Where does the line get drawn of when it's appropriate to add or not add mutually exclusive power pairs? All that said, Invulnerable doesn't have any mutually exclusive powers in it right now. They could move forward with the change there, by their own rules. But Super Reflexes on Sentinels would be screwed because they already have PB/MB in place. Electric Armor could be reworked as well. Probably some of the other crashing T9s. I'm sad to see all the work done getting tossed out, especially with the statement added that "At least at this point there are no plans to revisit them in the future." It was good idea and shouldn't be tossed to the side.

Two reasons I can think of: 1: Every melee set comes with a ranged attack. Physics be damned. 2: I seem to recall and old video game, maybe marvel vs capcom or something of the sort, fighting game like mortal combat, Wolvie had ranged attacks in that as well.

Nope. Just tryin to survive. The Kheldian mob usually rips him up.

Certainly wouldn't be the first time Mids' was wrong but just sharing to show what I was reading from. I thought it stacked too. Just checked City of Data and it shows it stacks there as well.

Looking at my DP/SR Sentinel: Knowing that they're about to get buffed from .07 to .075 mitigation scaler; Knowing that Evasion got hyper-buffed to 19.95% defense instead of being the same as FF and FS at 12.95 so that the devs could replace Lucky with Enduring; Knowing that sentinels are capable (this character doesn't do it because she's over the softcap all the time now and will be more so after the buff) of hovering to stay out of melee almost perpetually; Knowing I'd miss it but think the following anyway; Just drop the absorb from Sent Master Brawler (edit) and don't add anything new to PB. Make new SR MB nothing but a toggle that provides nothing more than what PB provides. The balance point is that PB is a click, wastes time, has to be watched and MB costs a hell of a lot more endurance over time. Nothing special needs to be added. Balance is already right there.

6th enhancement in Blaster IO Defiant Barrage but Mids' lists it as Mag 1 protection and it's marked not to self-stack.

Speaking of claws, just in case anyone wanted to know, the magic recharge number is 313. If you can get that, you can run a flawless followup, focus, slash, repeat attack chain. I don't have that unless I have the Time Lord buff AND I hit the empowerment station for the Increased Attack Rate buff. As it stands without those, I have a .2 second delay after slash before followup fires off.

Feel free to PM me so we don't sidetrack the thread. -
One of my fondest CoH memories: My brother, Green Dwarf, and I are both lvl 49. I had played REALLY hard to catch up to him. We're on a team together fighting Carnies and he messaged everyone but me, "Do Nothing. Hang back." And then, "Go get her, Bill!" I promptly faceplanted and he hit 50 first.

Perma-Lude had people calling me in to deal with max diff Malta missions because sappers were never a problem for me.

Sure. Both sit between 2:30 and 3 min times depending on how the RNG decides to mess with me. Chain for claws is followup, focus, slash, repeat. Chain for tank is long-et, tf, buildup if available, short et, gloom, bonesmasher, repeat. Pyronic core thrown in for both when available. Assault Core, Degen Core, Musc Core on both. Yea yea, before everyone jumps me, my sr/claws tank has worse pylon times than the claws/sr scrapper but not by nearly enough to equate to the extra mitigation the tank rolls with. -

My shield/nrg tank gets the same pylon times as my claws/sr scrapper. Tanker damage nerfs are 100% justified. -

Weird. My sarcasm meter just started bleeding. -
I do when my bio user is getting its ass handed to it. Granted, I solo a lot and don't count on team buffs to carry me through shit.

Arcanaville is the Patron Saint of All Things Math. I'm ok with being the Patron Saint of Claws and SR, but I'll happily bow my head to being so only because of her. -

On the plus side, the whole conversation did make me revisit the BZB builds and I found a few corrections available that make all three even tougher. And the brute changes coming in? Well they'll make a change in my opinion of BZB brute. Instead of doing less damage than BZB scrapper while having less mitigation than BZB tank, he'll be viewed as having more mitigation than BZB scrapper and more damage than BZB tank. -
My bio/claws tank can't even get through the second mission of ITF without faceplanting at +4/x8 on LIVE. Granted, I may very well be doing it wrong. But the changes currently on test as read feel heavy-handed, even for my sense of game balance.

Original T9s were designed for a game with only TOs/DOs/SOs. That game is long past dead. Let's move on.

I'm Stumped. Worse Pylon Times on Test.
Bill Z Bubba replied to Bill Z Bubba's topic in Open Beta Testing
I learned that after I stuck in the Kismet the other day. I was running the global + run speed IO in there before. Now, I know I tested that out back in the days long past. You're finding that the two CFBU's do generally bump up damage over the other two damage procs? Also, that's a net loss of 3.75 % on recharge. That adds .03 seconds to FU's recharge! 🙂 I need .1 seconds LESS than the live build. You bumped up FC resists, but SLEN resist all took a considerable hit. You're dead on, though, about all the slots wasted in Health, Stamina and PhysPerf. Learned that when I was working on the test build. Thanks for the time you spent on this. Was planning to ask someone to have a peek to see what I've missed these past few years. I'll check out that second build as well soon. -

On BZB scrapper I run barrier. On BZB brute and tank I run ageless.
