Just started this so we have a place separate from the Star Trek and Stargate Topics to discuss BSG. Did People hear there is a kind of " Non Reboot " Reboot coming. It will I guess be a series set in the BSG Universe but with new characters and stories. Battlestar Galactica on NBC

Could be something to do with the recent Mastermind Pet Customization, since she behaves as an Ally/Pet in that arc, oh the Spaghetti Code rears it ugly head again, lol.

To now redirect the conversation back to Stargate: One moment please, there we go.... Loved the Original Movie, when they announced that Showtime was producing a series I was a little teed off that I wouldn't be able to watch it without signing up, so I waited. When it came to the SciFi Channel I was addicted, not binging surrounded by jars of Urine, but close. The Mythology was very deep for a TV Show at that time. The Goa'uld rework as a race of parasites worked with the original movie and opened up the doors to all sorts of possibilities. The longer the show ran, the more I was impressed with where they went with it. It was only when RDA started to back away from front line involvement that it started to wain a bit. The last 2 seasons were pointed in new direction and were good, maybe not as good as the peak years but good. The 2 Movies I thought were well done and the first one wrapped up the series well. while the 2nd was just plain fun. Altlantis was cool from the start. New villains, new allies and whole slew of Ancient Tech and fresh Mythology. Dr McKay was just a wealth of neurotic moments. The show was, I thought, cut down in it's prime and deserved a proper ending. A final season would have let them do a proper ending instead of the rushed finale and gratuitous Group Happy Shot, roll credits. Universe also was just getting itself in form when the ended it. I thought it had potential to be a great show but they kept not progressing the interpersonal relationships, Col. Young and Dr Rush, until the final episode, felt it more important to be spiteful and undermining of each other even at the cost of their own interests and the crew than to work together. But there were lots of great episodes. If they had stopped at the one where they spawned an entire Civilization 1000s of years in the past, that would have been a much better final episode than being stuck as Crew-cicles forever. Who knows. Have not got to see Origins, but have read some comments and feel I would just have to watch it before deciding.

Most of the 1970s stuff before the glut tend, especially the important issues, to be priced very well. Some of the later stuff is disposable. Not much use in keeping them now anyway. Some stuff like first appearances of meaningless characters at the time, that became popular later, like Deadpool in the New Mutants, are still quite highly priced. Wish I had a copy of Hulk #181 ( Nov 1974 ), first appearance of Wolverine, top condition is listed at over $10,000. Damn it.

Grew up in Rural North Central Ohio, 3 VHf TV channels and 2 UHF. Not much to watch there but Doctor Who on PBS and old Trek. I collected comics and read a lot of science fiction. My Dad was born in 1918 but thought computers were where everything was going so in the 1970s bought us ( 6 kids ) 2 Atari Computers and a game console. We learned Machine Language and Basic. Wrote our own programs and had a photo lab in basement with black / white and color developing. You would regret walking barefoot into my brothers bedroom because you would end up with resistors and capacitors stuck in your feet from the shag carpet. He also made us all learn a musical instrument. So in High School at 6'4" 248 lbs ( with abs ) I played Baseball and in Band, the football coach could not get why I wasn't on the team. I then joined a Rock band called Sage at 17 ( everyone else in the band was 30+ ), we did Kansas, Boston, Styx, Journey and the like for Proms, Homecomings and Weddings. no bar gigs, just the good jobs. Ended up in several bands after graduation and in college, finally ending up in Tone-X, a progressive original power pop band, We did some pretty cool gigs, opened for later versions of the Romantics, Blue Oyster Cult, Billy Idol and Night Ranger. Retired from playing around 2000 ( torn rotator cuff and our Guitarist moved to North Carolina ) . Have always had a good day job, but was getting bored without music to occupy my time when I saw " City of Heroes " on the new game shelf at Walmart. The rest they say is history. Does all this make me a geek? yeah, probably.

Thought that the episode of TNG where Q showed Picard what his life would have been like if he played it safe very telling. He hated being a little trained Minion working in the Background. That removes all the romance from how great that life in the Federation would be for the average person, It made an impactful statement, but made me think how sad it made everyone but the main cast look, and I never forgot that.

Actually have about a 1/2 dozen tubs of 1970s-1990s Marvel, X-Men, New Mutants, X-Caliber, X-Factor, SubMariner, Machine Man, Wolverine, She Hulk etc. Going to catalog them for sale soon as a pre-retirement supplement. Even have a rough1940s Captain America that I found in a junk box at a Flea Market when I was in High School. Sold my 1970s-1980s Avengers and Fantastic Four 30 years ago for about $4000 so I figure the stuff I still have should price out well. Haven't even looked at them for years, just taking up space, just like all my music gear, lol.

The Scene that Apparition linked to is from when they found Kobol, and then, during season 3, most of the civilians along with President Baltar started a Colony, then the Cylons arrived and began oppressing them. The Galactica came to the rescue and The Pegasus was destroyed covering their escape. There was an entire 22 Episode season after the scene he said he thought was from the finale, but it is a great scene, and one of the coolest sounds to ever come out of my surround sound. Play it with your headphones on or speakers on 10, cool.

Weird. Why they all on a planet? That is actually at the end of Season 3, Then over the next 2 years they aired 2 shortened seasons referred to as Season 4.0 and Season 4.5 which brought the Story to an end. They tied up a lot of loose ends and the finale was really cool as they end up at the Cylon Colony, complete with a mix of Original series Centurians and the Contemporary ones.

Currently have only Marine X @ 50+ ( Inv/SS ) on Reunion, but with the frequency with which I can play, that's actually doing good for me. Have a 50+ Fire/Rad Brute, Bubba Burns on Everlasting, never got a Brute there on Live. Have a few Project Tanks, Grimmwolf @32 ( Bio/Savage ) and Major Meson @13 ( Rad/Rad ), but mostly all my remakes from Live and not enough time to play them. Have definitely noticed the changes since the Patch, Thanks HC Crew, seems this may get a little love back for having a Meat Shield on your team, it's been a while. Still gotta get back to Livingston @13 ( Stone/Fire ), AC Volt @22 ( Elect/Elect ), Warhorse @24 ( Shield/Mace ) and Xeniram @12 ( Bio/Titan ), but hopefully we have a good long time to get there and I'm not in a hurry.

It is by no means a new thing, as I had it happen occasionally on Live, but I've never figured out a way to make it stop. It's just weird and I thought maybe there was something in mouse settings or options I could adjust to eliminate it. I have a good Internet Connection and ping and am not experiencing any lag or rubberbanding. Since the powers are both Targetless, PBAoE, I assume that it would show a ring around it if you Double Tapped it but it doesn't, then out of the Blue it triggers. Maybe it's just Millie, our house ghost, having a little fun with me.

Not so much a bug as an annoying thing. On my Fire/Radiation Melee Brute my normal attack chain is ( with Irradiated ground on ) to run in crowd, hit Burn, then Atom Smasher. This usually finishes off a group, save maybe a love tap if a Lt survived. I'll start toward the next group and all of a sudden Atom Smasher goes off again. I've had the same thing happen with Footstomp before on Marine, even if I've clicked another power afterward. Anyone else have this issue? Any way to get it to stop? Not a big deal but can become aggravating some times if I want to use my normal chain, because now I have to wait for it to recharge.

THONGS FOR EVERYONE!!!!

I liked SG-Universe which I guess is an unpopular opinion in SG fandom. I agree on those as well, can't believe I forgot to name drop Farscape. SG1, Atlantis and SGU were all good but one of my favorite things was the 200th episode when they were trying to help Brainstorm a TV show concept...

One of mine, Warhorse ( Shield/Mace Tanker ), was this build and was pretty impressive. Didn't get the Incarnate Love that some of the earlier toons did but didn't seem to need it as much either. Started him for the Cimerora Launch. fastest toon to 50 for me.
-
I started Goldfever first, ( Illusion/Kinetic Controller ) then Marine X a few weeks later ( Invulnerable/ Super Strength Tank ) in Issue 0, couldn't do beta because needed to get Broadband installed. Had Marine and 2 other Tanks to 50 before Goldfever Did. Tanking for me was the better fit.

Strangely, most of my Characters, ( Firehawk, Marine X, Corona, Goldfever, Hawkstar, Livingston, Xeniram, Sludge, Warhorse and Thunderess ) were originally characters in a comic book I drew for Art class in High school ( 1980-1982 ) and some had different powers, but was able to find sets that worked for some of them on Live, So changing Things now is like a little re-tweak.

Trek has evolved over the years in some ways that make it hard to be a fan of all its versions. TOS was a classic and always will be what hard core fans will judge any new Trek against, what they were able to do, in a show that ran in 1966-1968, was astoundingly groundbreaking. They created a solid World of politics and Alien cultures that was very believable and engaging. Add lots of Cowboy diplomacy and you have a Classic, even if CBS didn't see it at the time. When they announced ST: The Next Generation, I thought it was a horrible idea.... Shows what I know. It took a while for it to find it's place Story wise, but once it did I believe that it set a new bar for SciFi on television as far as Writing and Production. Great Cast and Crew. I was actually looking forward to Deep Space Nine when they announced it. The Berman Era yeilded the most Unappreciated Series of the Catalogue. It was very much Anti-Trek Trek as the Characters were always in turmoil with each other. The serialized format of the show was a breath of fresh air after TNGs monster of the week format and made the series my favorite. Voyager is not a bad Series, period. But is it a great Trek show, not sure. Was it the female Captain that made people not respond well to it? probably ( although it had good viewership numbers, no one apparently watched/liked it, hmmm ). I liked it for what made it different, no Star Fleet to call in, and whether to still hold to those values, tough to do sometimes. Villains that were ruthless, the Vidians , the Kazon, the Hirogen, Species 8472 and of course, The Borg. Does not get a lot of credit for the fact that Voyager is a small ship a long way from Home. Enterprise was going to be an uphill battle from the word go. It was going to be hard to accept that communicators were all they had in an era of smartphones. That at launch, Enterprise didn't have Phasors, only torpedos. That Shields were not yet available, and probably the most jarring, No Federation of Planets, Vulcans were usually an antagonist and our primary enemies for the series are groups never before mentioned in Trek Lore even though it takes place before TOS. Some didn't like Scott Bakula. I thought that although the story seemed to keep exposing what it would really be like to explore space before you really had friends and acquaintances out there, most viewers just would bring up a laundry list as to why TNG or TOS were so much better. Guess I preferred a change of direction instead of another Cookie Cutter show, that's really all. Discovery started slow but is doing well in creating a whole new narrative in an era we know little about, much like Enterprise, but not trying as hard to be realistic, instead being very Creative with there direction. the fact Saru's species is considered a delicacy is very wierd. I like it, can I keep it? Star Trek: Picard. I guess we'll see, soon. Star Trek: First Frontier, guess we'll see it and then judge, they have got a great team from what I hear, and are in uncharted waters, could be the Feature film producers need to hire these guys. The films....... All good for different reasons and to different degrees. Wrath of Kahn and First Contact are my 2 Favorites, followed by Voyage Home, Search for Spock, and Generations. The other films are good, just not something I would rewatch as much. To me, the movies are like an extended TV episode and I have episodes I like better than some of the Features. Kelvin Timeline: Probably was the best way to reboot without stepping on a million toes, and It allows for their to be some uncertainty as to the way things would play out. Understanding that half the original cast is no longer with us, and even TNG, DS9 and STV casts are getting long in the tooth it was inevitable. I enjoyed them in that context and will continue to see what the come up with. To answer the OP: I am a Science Fiction fan and Star Trek fan, not that I consider them 2 different things. I also liked Lexx which was comedic but also SciFi, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Invisible Man on SciFi Channel and Sliders. I could fill a page full of books and Movies, but my all time favorite is still Gattaca, such a great movie with the SciFi elements very subtle and the story very to the front. I think I need a new keyboard....

I've pretty faithfully recreated most of my Live toons on Homecoming. I've only modified 1 so far ( Livingston went from Stone/Battle Axe Tank to Stone/Fire Tank ). Well I finally had to do it. I have hardly played Hawkstar at all ( Level 2 Warshade ) so I recreated him as a Fire/Inv Sentinel which so far has been much more compatible with my playstyle. I had an easier time on Live with my Peacebringer, and may start a Warshade again later, but it was difficult for me the first time around and even though Void Hunters are not around they still require a lot of patience. Anyone else Rebooted a Live Character to a totally new Archetype?

Streetsweeping Missions: the good and the bad
Marine X replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
Then Linda Summers in Kings Row sends you, at level 5 to "Defeat 20 Skulls in Perez Park", all are at least 7 and in large groups with a Death Doll or equivalent hiding among them, ( I died , died, died, but did complete it ). Did a Door mission for her in Perez and then, at level 6, She tells me to "Defeat 20 Circle of Thorns in Perez Park". After searching for nearly an Hour, I wielded the Almighty "Auto-Complete Mission" on that Fantasy. There isn't ever any below 7, and I couldn't find a group smaller than 6 that wasn't level 8 or above, always with LT and mostly 9s. This whole thing just made me wonder, why did I have to Self Level from 28 1/2 to 30 to get more missions from Kelly Nemmers, which I could have handled, to then be given that garbage at 5? The world may never know. -
Hyperstrike Members 290 943 posts Report post Posted July 4, 2019 Ice is great for Defense. But if you crack the Defense, it can eggshell nastily. So, while you should build towards soft-cap, always look at Resistance buffage too. Here's an example. It's kinda ridiculously uber-buff (Incarnate soft-cap to S/L and standard Soft-Cap to everything else. And, even though it doesn't REALLY need it, it's got multiple Recovery options (Energy Absorption, Conserve Power). https://tinyurl.com/IceRadTank And here's a Common IO build (plus the "must have" special IOs that you want to aim for). https://tinyurl.com/IceRadTank-CommonIO-Plus Credit the Master, Hyperstrike, always has a Plan.

One option might be to create a gmail email address for your Character and use it to create a Facebook page where you could post photos, videos, bios etc for free

The bugs you remember (fondly or otherwise)
Marine X replied to Greycat's topic in General Discussion
For a Tank/Brute guy, It took this for me to mothball my crew for a while and get a Controller to 50, lol.
