It seems pretty clear to me that there are a lot of people who either do not understand the ways in which powers are balanced against each other, or don’t care. In many cases they have explicitly stated that they don’t care, with comments such as if the person is solo then it doesn’t make any difference.
Well, fortunately it seems thus far that the homecoming devs do actually care about game balance and understand it fairly well. Therefore I predict that eventually both Fade and Farsight Will be marked to ignore power boost.
I believe Fade replaced Fearsome Stare, a large cone Fear with significant -Tohit, not a single target hold.
Soul Absorption replaced Petrifying Gaze, the hold. Since Poison, Trick Arrow, Time, etc, get holds I'm not sure why this was deemed necessary.
Questionable choices, balance wise, both of them.
No please. Implementing this suggestion would cause ranged aoes with knockback to actually scatter mobs regardless of where you are when you use the power. Right now you can use them to push all the mobs in one direction.
If you kick people for using Hurricane you're just proving you don't know how the game works. Hurricane is an incredibly good power. Now it CAN be used poorly, that's true, but kicking people for using powers that are effective when used properly just makes you a jerk.
That’s very cool. I like it.
I was hoping for a primary support though. I like getting the buff powers earlier. Ignoring the epic archetypes, we have four pure DPS, four hybrid DPS, and three pure support or defense. So I figured a fourth pure support or defense was fitting. Also when GM Jimmy was chatting with us on Excelsior, he said that a support primary with melee secondary was what he was thinking about. Not that that’s any sort of official word, but that’s where I got the idea.
well, if you get slowed a lot it might no longer be perma for one thing.
if you happen to be held or or out of end when you want to resummon, that could be another thing
I'm not saying this change Shouldn't happen, but it should be done with careful consideration, not a casual "sure, why not"
Doublehit is likely to be better on slower, higher base damage attacks. +Dam (assuming you aren't capped) is likely to be better for someone with faster cycling attacks.
Just like with playing music, when playing multiplayer games, if someone is listening is the difference between mediocrity and excellence. In the game, it's the difference between true superheroes and scrubs. The player is always more important than the powersets or build.
A few questions came to mind, and I noted some things, while I was looking at character creation today.
I can SORT OF get my mind around why Tankers are listed in Melee Damage and Defenders are in Ranged Damage, and similarly I can SORT OF understand why Kheldians are not listed in Melee Damage and why Dominators are not listed in either Melee or Ranged.
But I'm confused about why Arachnos Soldiers are listed among Pet summoners, but Arachnos Widows are not similarly listed among Crowd Control archetypes.
I also note that the Kheldian archetypes descriptions STILL say "they take more damage from most sources" which hasn't been true since like issue 4.
I assume there are other discrepancies that I missed.
It would be nice if there was a button on the last screen of the respec process that allowed you to move All enhancements (or at least the first 70, I guess) from "Unassigned" to "Enhancement Inventory".
I mean, there are a lot of things that I wish were different about respecs, but that seems like it might be doable, no?
I encountered something in Praetoria recently that I wonder if it could be related.
I ran the arc in which Crow betrays you and then you kill him. But even after he had betrayed me and was no longer visible in the world Calvin Scott kept trying to introduce me to him, but of course I couldn't meet him because he was gone.
