  1. Certain AVs can be annoying to drain end on. The build you will find comes together rather nicely in the end. Having an AoE sleep to set up for your /kin powers is super nice. Damage is low, but you can eventually get that be to decent.
  2. Brutes have higher resist caps, 75% vs. 90% IIRC.
  3. +1. Love Wolverine and Hulk. Even made a Claws/regen on live. Made a Cap like character on HC. You can't look at either and say they are direct copies. I have no desire to play direct copies.

    Dark/Dark

Dark/dark controllers get those and more. I concede in a defender having damage earlier on, but once the controller version gets up and running, it is hard to not say that the controller version outshines it. /dark for controllers is also a better version than the defender version. I still think the defender version is quite good. I can see the argument that the controller version has more control than needed, so the defender version works well since it is easier to be offensive with it. In terms of an AV, the controller would have three pets just based on primary and secondary alone to keep an AV entertained with.
  5. I saw a red side team forming. I flipped over to red side and got about three levels for my time and had fun. At the end of the one team we were waiting around for the lead. They came back and said they were sorry about taking time away. Before they left they gave another player and myself a purple recipe as a way of saying thanks. I had switched sides previously for patron reasons. Honestly, I'll likely do it all the more often since it is so simple to do so.
  6. I believe you only need the badge from killing the EB from BS's arc.
  7. 1-20 can be done in little time with the 2x XP booster and DFBs so I'm not sure how much that should be a factor. What matters is 30-50 and most builds have matured by 32.
  8. Add in stalker. Any of the three with the ability to telenuke twice is going to make quick work of mobs. AS first with the stalker so AAO kicks in for the AoEs.
  9. When in doubt, Dark is a good default. I would likely pick Fire as a backup.
  10. A break free from something confusing someone wrote.
  11. Like this forum has 11 good posts in a day. *ahem*
  12. /wp will be better as a brute than scrapper since they have higher resist cap and better regen. There's a number of primaries which would work.
  13. Kin/elec works(was my main on live) although I might argue Elec/kin for controllers works better(hit 41 on the weekend). Some end game AVs come across as being impossible to drain. It seems like end drain is very all or nothing with few cases you might drain an AV's end at about the same rate as their health goes down while on a team. I can't recall on EBs as I face far more AVs, but it feel like anything below AV was fairly easy to drain unless they resisted, ie sappers. Damage in the blast set is on the lower side since it is defensive. It's a decent set, but not one I want to reroll again. You do have to get your hands dirty with Short Circuit being PBAoE.
  14. Note you are talking about one of the best uber controller builds. I was soloing on +4 with common IOs before 50 back on live.
  15. Staff/wp should work. If I could focus on the character, I would get some levels on mine. Too many alts.
  16. This ignores one being a controller and being able to mez mobs. Also, corrs get scourge so they definitely are going to do more damage. They just have less in terms of how to mitigate incoming damage.
  17. I would honestly look at Ill/rad. Has -res and -regen. One of the safest support builds and high damage with relative safety.
  18. Because you generally want your Set IOs to be at the max level possible for that set, in order to provide the max possible bonus%. Also, I have a number of alts, OCD, and have been known for builds to die in their 20s and 30s. The question isn't "Now that I'm in my 20s/30s, what sets am I going to slot," but "Will I care enough about this build to play it after hitting level 50?" I just don't want to invest into any sets that low. Common IOs are less to think about and I have characters who have all of the crafting badges so making them is cheap and easy. Far easier to have a bin sitting there with numerous level 25 common IOs versus low level IO sets. "Wait, I don't have a melee set? (shakes fist)."
  19. Nothing until 22 and common IOs after that. Use the market to fund things. I won't hit sets until 50, and I am happy with a build.
  20. Elec/kin is the correct answer. Having one more way to drain end and an AoE sleep for alpha strike is a godsend.
  21. This is a good start. The map to farm has changed but doing a search on fire gets you what you need. I know there are other maps, but the difficulty can vary. I was doing a different one until I hit level 30 and bosses were added, and I mean a lot. I have seen one which uses EBs. Not sure how 600-800 mill is for a decent build. I would consider a build just using uncommons as being decent and there's zero chance that hit 600 million.
  22. Kin/elec was my main on live. I rerolled to Elec/kin controller, and honestly see no reason to go back.
  23. Popping purples and having any sort of defensive set practically qualifies as for what you want to do. Hell, I do it on my squishies.
  24. I didn't mention them for the same reason I didn't mention such powers for other sets - they're not terribly relevant. What is relevant is the damage multiplier that can be applied by a power set - and Kinetics' drops significantly when you only have a single target (to the point where it can't really compete with debuffing sets). Every set has nice perks like this. However, the aggregate of them isn't very important compared to the damage multiplier. + recharge isn't very important despite the fact that it is one of the most looked for traits to get as part of being an Incarnate? You do realize it also further aids that +dmg right? Outside of groups needing a healer, Kin is one of the more asked for powersets. Gee, I can't imagine why when they bring so little to the end game. *cough* Ran two Kins to 50 on live with one being my main. I lost count of how many AVs I turned into kittens. By all means promote various debuff sets as they should be, but dismissing Kin as only having +dmg being of worthiness is comical.
