  1. Ah! Okay, that's what I wanted to check. So if my math is right, ESD Arrow and Gravity Distortion Field have the same base Mez duration (adjusted for AT), but wildly different cooldowns, so I can totally see why a nerf to the former is needed.
  2. Depending on how loosely you define "Crowd Control", that's could be a number of powers in Tactical Arrow. But I'm guessing you mean the AoE Holds rather than, say, Glue Arrow. And looking at them... wow, I didn't realize that the base cooldown on ESD Arrow is only 1m30 compared to 4m for, say, Gravity Distortion Field, with comparable Hold durations. I thought it felt short, but I didn't realize how short. If that's what you're doing, I'll miss ESD Arrow being up nearly every spawn, but I understand why the would need to be changed. (And I see the AoE Stun in Temporal Manipulation is on the same 1m30 cooldown) (Side note... does anyone have a list of the Mez scales for the ATs? I really miss Red Tomax's City of Data right about now, and the archive.org version doesn't have all the pages or let you set your class to "none" to see the base values of powers) ... also, comparing various powers in the character creator makes me want to try a /Temporal Blaster.
  3. Looks like it works, but it also looks like you chose the wrong type of poll for this question, since I could choose all three options instead of just one.
  4. I used Banished Pantheon on my own Dark/Dark Controller for theme reasons. (I think I was "saving" Rularuu Lore for another character?)
  5. This is me letting you know. On Mac 10.10, the Island Rum beta chokes and dies even trying to install itself, let alone the clients. Same thing trying to install Wine through Terminal. My computer's just a bit too old to upgrade (frankly, sometimes I'm shocked it even runs 10.10), so simply upgrading to 10.11 or higher is not an option. Otherwise, that would probably be my first step. If there was some way to install Wine 2.x or 3.x in the Island Rum beta instead of defaulting to 4.0, that might let me use the 32-bit client, but I can't find the Terminal command for that, and there's some weird permission errors with Homebrew anyway (I get "make: /Applications/Xcode: Permission denied", even though the read/write permissions on that folder and file are set to Everyone) I understand that you're trying to make it work for the upcoming MacOS update, but it's starting to look like you've cut off the other end, and my computer's just too old for the new client. :/
  6. When I do that, it tells me "make: /Applications/Xcode: Permission denied", and then it fails at the end. (I've checked; I have permissions on the Xcode folder set to allow Read/Write permission to Everyone, as well as Admin and Me, so I have no idea why it's having permissions issues)
  7. Unfortunately, it only takes Pet, Recharge-Intensive Pet, and EndMod sets, none of which are particularly Proc-heavy. (You have the Chance for Stun in Energy Manipulator, and the Chance for Build-Up in Soulbound Allegience, and that's about it. The Pet and RIPet sets also have Defense and Resist auras, but those don't help the VS itself (since it's already invulnerable and untargetable), only other pets you may have. It does take Universal Damage and ATO sets as well, but I'm not sure if that's the place you want to use those (and they don't have great procs, either... hm, though, I wonder if the Dominator's Chance for Fiery Orb proc triggers in the VS - a pet summoning a pet)
  8. If that's the server I'm thinking of, then they implemented a lot of weird things which I don't think are going to happen here (most notably, making the Control set pets into a level 1 power).
  9. Yes. The main difference is when I use the old Island Rum, it just silently fails (green checkmark comes up when I hit the Play button, but nothing opens); while when I use the new Island Rum Beta, it coughs up a hairball full of error messages (which I've put in the topic you linked to) and then crashes before I can even hit the Play button. I've got Homebrew and Xcode and up-to-date command line tools and all that, but they're not helping. ... huh, I thought I put the error messages in that topic, but I didn't. I get "Wine not detected" when it opens, then when I hit Install (to install Wine, I presume?), it beachballs for ten or fifteen minutes, and then says "Installation failed", and when I messed with the settings and almost got it downloading something, I soon got "Unauthorized Access Exception!" and then it crashed.
  10. Feedback: I can't get it to run at all on a Mac (not even in 32-bit mode), so I hope this isn't going live any time soon. :/
  11. It drops from 20 per level to 15 to 10 to 5 per level as you get closer to Vet Level 100. Lemme find the list ... aha... It's 20 Empyrean Merits from Vet Levels 3 to 24, 15 from 27 to 48, 10 from 51 to 69, and 5 from 72 to 99. (Every third level, of course)
  12. I actually played a Scrapper on the Live servers who was based loosely on Knuckles (but she was Spines/Regen, not Claws/Regen). I never got her very far. (I never got a Scrapper or Stalker to 50, just Brutes and one Tanker)
  13. The thing is, you can't copyright an idea. You can't copyright similarities. You can't copyright "X reminds me of Y". For example: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/aa/3f/7a/aa3f7ac9338c1589ee3963046c6a0ce2.jpg and https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/marvel_dc/images/0/07/Mark_Desmond_Prime_Earth_01.jpg That's not the Hulk (it's the DC Comics character Blockbuster), and nobody involved is breaking any copyright laws, because you can't copyright or even trademark "Large muscular guy with torn clothing and greenish skin". Unless the character is actually wearing Wolverine's costume and is named "Wolverine" (or "W0|v3r1n3"), then you can't report it as a clone of Wolverine. (I mean, you can report it, and from there it's up to the GMs to decide whether they want to deal with it, but a Mutant Claws/Regen Scrapper is not, in and of itself, breaking any copyright or trademark laws)
  14. I'll just continue making characters reminiscent of "canon" characters rather than direct copies of them. :D (That way, I don't have to justify having them summon Mu Mystics when I get high enough level)
  15. It looks like "Knives of Art" is actually the Knives of Vengeance Lore pets. Knives of Artemis is not an option for Lore.
  16. This is what I was thinking. The entire pool is very Spider-Man like (Super Jump is the closest you're going to get to web-swinging in this game).
  17. Many of my characters on the old servers were homages that allowed me to capture the feel of a character while only vaguely hinting at the look (and completely avoiding being generic'd). I prefer doing that, because then I'm not "locked in" to a character concept if I want to add some off-theme power (usually Mu Mastery) or if I wanted to make them a different alignment (my Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel-inspired character was a villain, and so was done in traditional Marvel villain colors orange, green, and purple rather than red, yellow, and blues).
  18. The only correction to the Hit probability formula I'd make is that the tags on the power don't necessarily match the damage the power does. You have to check the tags. (For example, Fireball in Fire Blast does Fire and Smashing damage, but it's tagged to check against AoE and Fire Defense)
  19. There's a new secret powerset? Oh, man, now I'm really exicted! I can't wait for... Oh. :(
  20. According to a Reddit post a few weeks ago, Force of Will was available on one of the I24 servers before they disabled it to work on the VFX, so maybe that one is closer to done than the other Origin Pools (Gadgetry, Utility Belt, Experimentation).
  21. Transcendent Merits, which you can mail to your other characters. Also, you get a badge every three Vet levels, if that's your thing.
  22. Note that you can turn off the "ghostly" appearance and just have them look like normal mobs. But I'm thinking for your concept the best idea is Robotic Drones, which look just like the Targeting Drone in Devices. (I have a Beam/Devices Blaster, and he uses the Robotic Drones as well as Mace Mastery. He's a Vigilante, but I play it that he stole the mace from Arachnos in what he considers one of his largest triumphs as a crime-fighter)
  23. Even in Issue 1, Tankers had Stone Armor and Ice Armor. There was never a time in the game's entire history where they had no "heavy DEF reliant sets", so the devs knew and intended the -Def effect right from the start. (Mind you, I don't disagree that something should be done about the crash for the game as it stands now. Just that SR and Shields were hardly the first Defense-based sets a Tanker got)
  24. It's being discussed because "if you want more damage go with a brute if you want more defense/res go tanker" is false. Brutes and Tankers have the same defense and resistance at the high end, but Tanker lags behind in damage, offering nothing unique that Brute doesn't do better. Dominators and Sentinels are irrelevant to the discussion. Other than "have 300 more base HP", what can a well-built Tanker do that a well-built Brute can't? ... and I see why Profit is so hesitant to bring this up. So many people (deliberately?) misunderstand it and drag in unrelated topics.
  25. Paragon Chat, as its name suggests, is just an XML chat program that uses CoH as the chat client. You can't play the game through it. I don't see Freedom as an option, I see Titan Icon as the fourth choice (which is just the costume creator).
