Focused Feedback: Power Changes (Build 1)
ScarySai replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Yeah, I like pretty much every change except this one. I find the logic behind keeping it in line with the other t5s flawed, when unrelenting is actual trash and unleash potential is rarely worth the investment. This change makes sorcery possibly the worst set in terms of value, now. -
At least someone got the joke.
-
I don't really see these restrictions being applied outside benchmark scenarios, like pylons. And that's only because it's necessary to form a baseline for set performance. A claw scrapper rocking assault has a pretty good shot of beating a better single target set that's not using it, for example.

Singy is easily the best pet in the game, nothing really comes close to it. Practically carries the gravity set.

What kind of hardware is necessary to run high graphics?

Ooh, that could be huge for me. Where do we punch that in? Unless it's not a command, and I read that wrong. -

Not telling the guy to get a pentium core off ebay, just stating the fact that single core speed will mean more than more cores in terms of performance for the game. -

Single core speed's going to get the most mileage, since the game can't properly use all of them for modern cpus. -
Pre-nerf regen wouldn't even be as good as some sets even still, by today's build standards. I don't see a problem with any potential fixes to the set leading to it being slightly overpowered. When a set is this weak for this long, I think it deserves a bit of extra love to make up for it. Energy Aura's a pretty good example. That set used to make regen look good by comparison, same for war mace. Now, strong and pretty isn't a meme anymore, it's actually a horrifyingly strong combo.
-
Guys, regen is fine and totally doesn't need massive buffs. If I pop four purple inspirations before every pull I only die sometimes.
-
I'm pretty sure lethal sets, particularly the newer ones like Savage and the reworked version of claws were intentionally tuned up a bit to compensate for lethal damage. Smashing damage isn't actually that highly resisted.
-
My 'A team' would probably look a bit like this. Terror of the Depths: Savage/Dark/Soul Dyne and Dash: Stj/EN stalker Starflash: Warshade Lilith Mk. 3: Ice/time/dark corruptroller. Claws for Alarm: Claw/bio/soul scrapper Augmented Reality: Gravity/Storm controller Vaccine: Poison/DP defender Frozen Fiend: Demons/Cold MM Lots of damage and mitigation, with a bit of support mixed in to soften up even the toughest targets. Bring lots of buffs.

Hey Devs, can you please some or all of this to HC?! :)
ScarySai replied to BurtHutt's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The only thing that has made me ever even consider trying out Tspy are the necromancy changes. I'm alllllll about that Diablo 2 life. -
They are good at different things and it depends on the combos. I'd put money on the fire/fire blaster every time, but if we're talking like a rad/devices vs a claws/elec, I'm probably going with the brute.
-
Lots of people trying to re-invent the wheel with square bricks, it's humorous to think about - but generally unwanted.
-
Words can't describe how awful this would be.
-
Seems like people just forgot how good corruptors and brutes are, lately. It's honestly entertaining, see people claim they are both bad. Let's me know who's opinion isn't worth humoring in the future.
-
Brute has the best variant of savage, is the strongest base melee AT (no ATO reliance), and when fully buffed up via insps or teammates, is essentially just as beefy as a tank, while meeting scrappers on dps. They don't specialize in anything and lack the godlike ATOs that scrappers, tanks and stalkers have, but they still have the capacity to be one of the scariest things in the game. Pylon tests and the parameters of said tests do not favor how brutes actually work.

"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?
ScarySai replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
Going past +5 for incarnates really wouldn't be much of a test outside survival benchmarks. At that point, you're just so outscaled that no amount of IOs will really allow you to do anything impressive, after a point. -

ScarySai replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
I'd be for future content being added being made more difficult, so as to force teaming if you don't bother IOing/optimizing your build. I'm a big fan of the Freaklok arc. As for balancing around IOs? You pretty much can't. Even if we ignore procs, even if we ignore insane high-performers, it's just so wildly inconsistent what IOs actually give you. My 500 mil blaster build may not be as roided out by IOs as say, my 500 mil corruptor build. It all depends, so balancing around the IOs conceptually would be hard to actually do in practice. I'm not against a new difficulty mode for some of the people to test their mettle on, but that's pretty much the most you could do there. There's not really much HC could do to the invention system without either adding to it, or making the game worse, either. -

I don't think it's a ridiculous request to buff the council to at least reflect their lower level variants. I think shapeshifting, robots and dark vampiri making a return would spice things up a bit. They'd still get rolled by most builds, but it'd be more fun. Also, the rocket launching bosses need a bug fix. They REFUSE to drop the rocket launcher and kick you in the face. Fifth column bosses don't have that problem, for some reason. They'll gladly go crouching tiger on your ass if you get too close. -

Not even an inkling. -
We already have a beta server, you know.

People who ask for help with a build, then get defensive when you suggest they take different powers/slotting options.

How the heck do I convince myself to make a Corruptor?

At least Peacebringers are fun. 😛 -
How the heck do I convince myself to make a Corruptor?
ScarySai replied to Chompie's topic in General Discussion
Very few things in the game can actually outdamage a scourged blizzard. I'm aware that defenders can do some scary things to a mob's stats, especially if you get into the really overkill things like heatloss>burnout>heat loss, but there is no world where a competent corruptor is outblasted by a defender. Maybe with procs you could get a slight edge due to the extra power behind the -res debuffs, but once the corruptor is scourging rain powers, there is no comparison, the corruptor wins every time. It's obviously very dependent on the powerset, though. If we're talking something like sonic blast + cold dom, I'd definitely want to be a defender for that. For anything with fire or ice blast, corruptor. For a combo like water/storm, I've heard arguments for defenders, but the reality is that the combo works a lot better on corruptors.
