Thank you for this info. My whole intent was to get 3 lightening storms out on a consistent basis. Currently I have a steady stream of 2. The dps they put out is impressive.
-
Been reading these threads and I might be missing something so I will just ask straight out. 1. What setting are these test being done on ? 1/1 or 4/8 The reason I ask is I have seen some of the builds mostly in controller section and several are lacking in Defenses. Personally myself I work towards defense cap on any build, even if I am creating a petless mastermind ( have 2 of them ) I am working towards defense cap and then recharge based on build or key power. EG DP would be hail of bullets and working toward a more melee centered build. So are you saying that having all these procs are creating much more DPS then lets say a defense capped build that allow you to solo same content that someone running defense cap would.. EG 4/8 setting ? Or even 3/8 setting ? Are you saying that dropping for example 5 points in defense, example from 45 to 40 and placing several procs is better in the long run ? I have several procs in my builds for recharge EG force feedback +recharge in several powers but have yet to see them all proc to dramatically have my global recharge that high that is listed in MID Reborn. Again as an example 3 FF +Recharge would put my lightening storm down to 16 seconds recharge. Which means I could in theory place 3 storms up. But in all my testing have yet to see more than a solid 2 come up. Though speed boost of course does the trick. EG some of the builds I seen are good EG Dark builds because your Defenses are up to 37 assuming fade is perma as you have it listed. Along with some decent resistance numbers. I take this thread as I did when someone explained Defense cap to me and pointed to some threads on the forums many years ago, which are in my signature. I became a Defense cap zealot. But I am also big on Petless masterminds. But I will be the first to say they are lacking in DPS. But in a game where half the base might not get defense cap, he is just as good due to survivability then someone who keeps dying. EG dead people don't produce DPS. So since I see this thread all over the forums I wanted to know where you stood with all of this. Is this the new defense cap ? Or Procs are good take them when you can if your not going for full set bonuses.

DP hail of bullets is PBAOE you better doing it with Corruptor Traps.. Because traps will give you defense capped.. Which will allow you to drop Hail of Bullets and even a trip mine right after..
-
ANY MM / TRAP - will get you defense cap tankermind. Just swap out my robot traps build with another Mastermind and you are pretty much done build wise. This isn't a plug for Traps, but a cheat sheet. I would consider Traps as a simple way of introducing someone into mastermind builds without feeling defeated.

Changed over the build with Oppressive Gloom. Less DPS to some degree but OG is very helpful for bomb placement. If the Device Trip mine changes go over to Traps I would probably change it back. It is endurance heavy. But covered with Incarnate abilities. If they lowered the endurance on the attacks it would be great. Further if there was some sort of IF no pets selected in build then Improve DPS of attacks and secondary powerset attacks. it would be helpful. Or have some sliding scale based on pets sets and upgrades. But can solo 8/3 but you are not setting any land speed records here.. I created a farming toon on a second account which will help me level up pretty fast hopefully. I also am going to look to max out DPS when possible with higher end IO sets when possible to see where that puts me as well. Next setup will be Demon Storm.

Time is on my side! A MM /Time guide for all primaries. Now with updates!

thank you for the post and the link. I was trying to grasp my head around time power set and this will help me understand it. I am a big traps guy and I am trying to get out of my comfort zone. -
See this is funny because I had a TA/Archery Hover-Blaster back in the day and I loved it. Range defense cap. I was soloing 4/8.

After setting up my Robot Traps and testing out Oppressive Gloom. I have to say though it is a DPS hit. I have to say Oppressive Gloom is just too good to ignore. Further if the BETA changes for Devices goes to Traps it will make Trip mines that much better. I am holding out ATM to see and then decide if I want to move my Petless Mastermind to Soul Mastery. This is my final build on Robot Traps. Soloing 4/8 mission settings.. No Incarnates ATM set though I have them unlocked. Just wanted to test it all out. Endurance issues is minimal. Oppressive Gloom is a MUST have power with Traps.. It just sadly is a must have power.. It really, really kills the number of incoming attacks. It DRAMATICALLY increases your chance to place Trip Mines. If they bring over the non interrupt to Traps as they are looking to do in BETA for Trip Min in Devices then it will be a totally amazing. Odd note I was tight on cash so I pulled all my money together and Merits. I got really lucky with some of the conversions that I was able to get the exact set and exact IO needed from that set on the first attempt. It was freakishly lucky. But it really saved money and time. End result zero issues it plays very smooth. I agree honestly. They are not different. -
Focused Feedback: Devices, Stealth and Misc Power changes

WTF I hope its only in BETA -
This a great keybind that I use all the time and before posted here I went back to the old forums to get them. I like the addition of the pet summon and upgrades. Currently I am looking to rework my binds on this and will post here. personally I never usually command separate pets to attacks separate targets. So keys 1, 2 and 3 for me are never used. It usually is all or nothing. So its mostly zero key for all followed by 4 to 9 key combinations. End result I might try to work 1 - 3 into some different set of commands. I am going to see if I can create a goto me command if possible. Similar to summoning pets has the me target . EG " divide powexec_location me call genin"

Unlocked a few incarnates using a SO Build on several MSR runs. I currently keep the toon logged off in Rikti War Zone and will log him in for a MSR run. Some players will do multiple runs. There is also a Ouro 4 mission set that gets you Incarnate salvage. It can be done in 15 minutes or less. Forgot the name but it is in the guide section. If they removed the interrupt off traps Trip mine as they are looking to do in Devices secondary it will go a LONG way with this build. What I can tell you now is this build is like a turtle. Slow and steady. There is a endurance concern but nothing less then there was with any Robot Traps mastermind. EG summoning the robots and FF Gen kills my endurance. Trying to re-summon mid combat can be disastrous as many masterminds know. Sometimes a good AOE will cause yet another pet wipe. I am considering going over to Soul for Oppressive Gloom Though Field mastery really does give better numbers overall to this build. If I could put Trip mines down more consistently it would be a benefit because I wouldn't loose the endurance for failed placement and my DPS would increase. I am looking to finish off my Robot Traps and will maybe test out that build with Oppressive Gloom running and placing trip mines down in a group to see the comparison. My goal is to tighten up the build as much as possible and try to take out some AVs. I am working on killing a Pylons ATM as well. But working on placement of Force Field Generator so it won't get constantly hit and destroyed by the Pylon attacks. Right now I think I have it maybe figured out and I am placing the FF Gen behind me, but if the Pylon knocks me back I need to re-summon the FF Gen because it has moved up into range to be attacked.

Got complaints about being a mastermind in a group
plainguy replied to plainguy's topic in Mastermind
The great take away as you mentioned and so do others. Masterminds are required to be cognizant of their pets at all times. I would like to say because of the pets we can do great things. But the reality is we can't and are just like any other AT soloing AVs. Some builds can and some builds can't. But unlike other Archtypes our main job is controlling pets almost all the time. Again not a complaint, just stating a fact. Thus it leaves us less time to attack ourselves and even further we have chance to slot attacks because the build requires you to have thing to protect your pets. EG Traps is Traps is Traps. Robot Traps, AR Traps defender, AR Traps Corruptor. I can see the argument of we want Traps set for the debuff. But we don't want to deal with the 5 to 6 pets that come with the mastermind. I wish there was an ability within the AI of the pets that would keep them on a leash and stop the pets from running off. I wish there was an ability to tell the pets Stand here DON'T MOVE.. Just attack this target.. BUT DON'T MOVE no matter what, unless told to do so. -
Got complaints about being a mastermind in a group
plainguy replied to plainguy's topic in Mastermind
Yes it was... That was my petless mastermind leveling.. You can't do petless leveling.. The Endurance drain is impossible. Since then hes 50 and has some incarnate unlocked and spec'ed out. Yea I agree. -
I think you guys are off base here. No one knows what anyone's build is when they are running some incarnate content EG ITF, Tin Mage Or League content EG BAF for example No one is looking at each or any toons for the most part and inspection the verbiage of their set bonus and determining how many times the word huge appears in set bonuses this context. The mere fact that my Petless mastermind offers much MORE then the same SO build mastermind numerically ( via mids or whatever hero builder ) negates your statement. The mere fact that I ran these TF and Leagues with an SO Build Mastermind and we completed them all and no one complained. Proves NO ONE looked at my build. Because again no one cares ( except maybe you guys ) if the content is being cleared. The only time someone will complain is if your failing. Further if you need full team or League to do something in this game, then your doing some really wrong. I have done ITF with 4 people. I have taken down Pylons with my Petless pain traps mastermind. I have a DP Kin that can't take down a Plyon and fully capped. He can't die, but he can't kill it either. There are MANY players who are NOT scrappers, tanks or brutes that cannot take down plyons. It doesn't mean they are lacking or bad builds. If I were being completely clinical, I would rather have a defense capped petless mastermind then a SO mastermind. Because I know from the math the defense cap build is offering me much more to me and the team. But since I know this game doesn't take a full team I would take them both.

Trying slightly to grasp the auto complete as well. But I think everyone on the team HAS TO HAVE this mission. Then you auto complete the first. Then its completed for everyone. Pass lead to someone else. They auto complete the 2nd mission Pass the lead to 3rd person They auto complete the 3rd mission. Now you have to turn off the option that says complete missions if you happen to have the same mission as well.. You then run the last mission 8 times or whatever the number of players are on the team. Everyone gets the reward for each person.
-
I think its pretty dam good. I guess we can play around with the numbers a bit to MAYBE get you closer to defense cap. But I know Darkest Night will definitely cap you out. But again not crazy on this whole anchor thing. I'm a shake box to this and its too risky for me. Yea I know its nonsense.

Nice. Mine is Whip Lash but still trying to get him a costume. I just copied over what I had from another toon for now. This is full demon pain I had back in the day if it helps out This is copied from that thread to give you some numbers No clue why some stuff is colored the way it is tried to correct it but not all would correct. I added the wayback link to the old forums. I have World of Pain ( WoP ) 4 seconds short of perma. My constant regeneration from suppress pain is 706% to myself and 424% to anyone else. I'm pretty much within the realm of Scrapper Regeneration numbers with this build. Granted I know Regen Scrappers can go higher, but 706% is nothing to scoff at either. It comes out to 26.52 hit points per second at lvl 50.Defenses45 Ranged and AOE24 Melee ( Just could not cap this out without screwing everything else up ).Resistances with WoP activeSmash and Lethal beyond the 75% cap.Fire 18% +20% = 38%Cold 18% + 10% = 28%Energy 18% Negative 41% Toxic 41% +15% = 56%Psionic 21%Pet buff adds Fire 19.99% Cold 9.99% Toxic 15.00%http://web.archive.org/web/20120906034338/http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showpost.php?p=3966493&postcount=55 slot enhancers in maneuvers30 slot enhancers in WoP20 slot enhancers in Suppress Pain5 slot enhancers in weave20 slot enhancers in Health10 slot enhancers in Stamina15 slot enhancers in Soothe10 slot enhancers in Dark EmbraceSome of the enhancers help me squeak out the Defense cap numbers and in other places it adds about another 15% to Regeneration. It also helps the endurance as even with Cardiac this is a very heavy endurance build.I'm thinking with Bodyguard mode and my defenses and resistances combined with my Steady Regeneration I am in a good place to be able to handle a decent amount of damage. Again I think for someone who understands masterminds and you look at the overall picture I believe the build has some very good mitigation and decently layered defenses and resistances. The largest expense in the build is the Gladiator IO.It's built with a "Tankermind" approach and has provoke. I do know that some epic sets might benefit more like Chill Mastery. My super gripe with that set is the ICE cubes that shield puts all over your toons body. If they got rid of that I would consider swapping over and reworking to get the defense cap numbers back up. But beyond that I went with my favorite Soul Mastery for Oppressive gloom. I use it a lot and it really does help locking down everything that is not a boss. I use it on my Petless mastermind and I can say it is the one big thing that helps keep me alive fighting on a 4/8 setting. I was just fighting some Rikti and I could see how much it worked because anytime I would get mezzed or slept and O.G. would drop many of the mobs immediately start getting many hits through. I don't think beyond the epic pools that there is much that can be done, but never say never. But enough blabbering here is the build. Be advised it has WoP active. This was my final build as of today. I changed it up because of I really, really didn't want to pay all that money OR merits for those Rare IOs. we are talking 20 million or 100 merits each. 3 sets.. Just wasn't worth it for me. I only did one set which came out to 600 merits as I didn't have the cash and didn't want to farm it. At 49 I was left with slotting out Energy Torrent and using Catalyst on the Frozen Blast. What I can tell you is the Endurance difference between 49 and 50 were very noticeable. Its still a bit heavy on endurance BUT it really is doable. I ran a mission on 8/4 setting against Counsel mobs and again was surviving. I could not put down trip mines that much when I had a bunch of mobs around. Something always snuck in to hit me and break placement. But the initial setup was great. 1 or 2 trip mines - one a bit back from the other and I was almost killing half a group between trip mine and Explosive Blast. I would set one off and then get the mobs on me and walk them back a bit onto the other trip mine. Followed up on Poison Trap and if possible another trip mine or just stick to AOE type attacks until the herd was thinned out a bit more. It is NOT some speed demon by any stretch of the imagination. But it can be done. On a team I would see no issues with him. Double triage beacon alone gives you 600% regeneration. Everything is a knockdown which is great. There are enough AOE type of attacks and enough recharge that your not sitting on your hands waiting. But here is the build. No incarnates yet Will try to take out a pylon and see how it goes. Got complaints about being a mastermind in a group
plainguy replied to plainguy's topic in Mastermind
Yea mind you I don't have the Exact verbiage the person said. But it was around the lines of 2 masterminds on a team already but 2 masterminds in a cave, I had enough. I'm out and they bailed. Then the tank commented, Yea I feel the same. Again not the end of the world and the newer content for the incarnate missions sort of fixed the cave and sewer problems. At least they were smart there. -
I suck because I cannot find this costume part for the life of me. 20 minutes and counting. Anyone have a clue where it is ? I can't even find a google answer on where it might be. Let me correct. You cannot do Bare chest and Tattoo. Robes and unique tops you can FOUND IT !!
