If the hostage isn't on me, I usually hit "F" to follow the hostage in case they get stuck. If the hostage is on me then I usually run backwards to keep an eye on them.

Being forced to use inspirations is not an unreasonable requirement in certain circumstances. They exist in game, are plentiful, and can drastically change the tide of a battle. Also, electric melee tanks are short-ish on ST damage, so it makes sense that you wouldn't be able to overcome his DPS check without help.

What your old mids says has no impact on how the game plays. Static Shield provides some toxic resistance Power Surge also does not have a crash.

It was just a rez, now you can use it as an absorb also. Dark Armor has a lot of other mitigation so it doesn't *need* to have an absorb up 100% of the time. Do you mean Cloak of Darkness? That defense does not supress. CoF doesn't have defense. However, CoF does have knockback protection, -damage and -tohit (as well as the Fear mentioned in the name) Depends, I used to take OG and skip CoF. CoF is a lot better now though, so I swapped to taking CoF and skipping OG. Except on things like my DA/Stone tank who stacks AoE stune between OG and Fault.

This is correct with 1 caveat. Unresistable resistance debuffs exist and those *will* lower your resistance, even if you have > 100% resistance.

I'll point out that Barrage, Power Crash, and Energy Transfer *do* tell you what they do in "Energy focus mode" For example, Barrage says:

If its possible/relatively easy? Sure, but I'm not certain that player A can alter the effects of a power cast by player B. Now, what you *could* do is mod the client side data so that cold shields always show minimal effects *for you*

Do you think that explosive blast has radial knock back? Because it doesn't. Every knock back power in Energy Blast knocks directly away from the caster. Therefore, Explosive Blast and Energy Torrent do the exact same amount of scatter.

Seeing the patch notes that @BasiliskXVIII posted above makes that sound like a bug and should be reported as such.

Sure, keep the repel/TP protection then give it 1000% resistance or something like that (100% resistance would only cut the mag in half, we want it to turn everything into knock down)

If you're at 95% regen resistance even the aforementioned Plasma Blast only does -500% regent, which wouldn't zero out a regen tank either.

I'd rather the power give some large percentage of knockback resistance rather than flat protection.

So, back on subject for a second... Assume such an enhancement could exist that would give the bonus for whatever set you had slotted... What happens when you frankenslot said power? Do you get the extra bonus from every set that you used?

Regen is the only armor set I can think of that does worse the more defense you have. Reactive Regeneration requires you actually get hit to proc. Build for recharge and resist. If you can get Second Wind permanent then your HP will be capped between that and Ailment Resilience. Also want to build for 100% recharge resistance, which isn't that hard when you factor in the resistance that the set provides.

On live, I loved my D3 defender, but I much prefer my dark/dark controller in HC. Permanent Haunt/Fade/Soul Absorption is a thing of beauty and he actually does decent AoE damage between the immob and Dark Obliteration. I may just not have a good build on the defender, I don't know.

FYI: AA costs the same as Hot Feet. AA used to be the crown jewel of ice control. Now, with Cold Snap, Deep Sleep, and adaptive recharge it is less necessary, but its still good control. Put the contagious confusion proc in there for shiggles.

My favorite Energy Melee toon is a Bio/EM tank. It does very respectable damage and is quite survivable.

You can only have 3 arcs open at once (not missions). If you have 3 contacts that have the book icon then you can't get any more until you close at least 1 out. Also, Dark Watcher requires you've completed the other 3 RWZ mission holders' arcs.
