12 Seers in 10 minutes would pose a challenge. I rarely meet one in Nova. Maybe someone should locate them before attacking? With current population, accidentally triggering the event is unlikely.

Transitioning from Tequila to Homecoming Launcher
huang3721 replied to Retroman's topic in General Discussion
I simply back up the entire old folder, (C:\CoH\* in your case). When you are sure everything run smoothly, you can safely delete the backup files and the old tequila files.- 10 replies

Transitioning from Tequila to Homecoming Launcher
huang3721 replied to Retroman's topic in General Discussion
No. Your account and all of your characters are safe in the server. They are not in your computer. No. Back up your existing game files, then put it somewhere safe, before installing Homecoming Launcher. Just make sure you don't install homecoming on the same folder with your old tequila. On your first run, Homecoming Launcher will search for your old files. If it finds them, it will copy all those files (pigg, assets, Ae missions, critters, etc) into a new homecoming folder. Do not manually copy those files.- 10 replies

How did you do that? If I am not mistaken the injured were not an escort. ie. white/blue instead of green. Critters won't attack them.

Maybe, its purpose is to introduce a character. For example, when we tell a story about a war hero, we choose their most important achievement. In short, we want to emphasize it to get our audience's attention. We add too many things, and our audience gets confused. "It sounds like he was a great person, but how did he get that medal again?"

Because people are giving away their build for free, it is reasonable to use theirs. After all, digging through the wiki and learning the ropes means they are not playing the game. That's probably not fun for them. In my opinion, there are several ways to encourage people to create their own: Ensure easy access to the resource. For example: make a regular course, or write a tutorial article in the forum or wiki. Write it in a simple language that everyone can understand. Then, when a complete newcomer asking for questions, point them to that article. When posting a build, make a summary of it. Define its purpose and what it is trying to achieve. Even better, highlight its trade-off, weakness, and limitation. This way, anyone can learn something from it. Keep in mind that not many people can understand Mids output just by eyeballing it. Rather than "civilly dissecting" someone else's work, why don't you improve it? We are here to learn. Make and post an alternate build so everyone can benefit from it. Also, last but not least, there are many words in the English language to define mediocrity to choose from. Yet, some of you picked the excrement. Guys, stop the name-calling. /rant

Laureate Badge option not received by all team members
huang3721 replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Bug Reports
I scripted my toons so they have similar attack chains. Both will independently target nearest enemy. Usually, as long as none of them gets defeated, both of them will get Laurate Badge. Imo, the hardest part to keep both of them alive is the finale when an all out brawl happens between the Resistance and PPD. -
The possibilty of a Mesopotamian-themed Praetorian Epic Archetype
huang3721 replied to Zepp's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I see. The idea makes sense if we want to balance the number of origins. I channeled my dislike regarding incarnate lore onto your proposal. I'm sorry for that. Still, many other Praetorian characters are more prevalent throughout the lore. In contrast, Pazuzu and Lamasthu showed up in a single arc. Furthermore, one of them is a bad guy. In my opinion, it is akin to using Mot's minion as an EAT for a blue/red side. I would love access to Cimerora for my Praetorian characters, but I'm still not sure. Archetypes usually have no link to a specific area. The devs have to make two write-ups, then. One is for PrEAT and another story for other archetypes. I am not a dev, so I can't say if making this EAT is less complex than making other ATs. I believe someone has to select which power goes in and how strong it is from dozens of available options. Not to mention calculating bonuses for this archetype. I'd say this proposal is novel, but I am still not convinced with its merit. -
The possibilty of a Mesopotamian-themed Praetorian Epic Archetype
huang3721 replied to Zepp's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Which means they are not Praetorian. Pazuzu and Lamasthu belong to another dimension (Night Ward), and they are as native as Praetorian refugee to the Brickstown dwellers. In my opinion, making a new ATO is hard work. If the new ATO is too strong relative to the existing ATO, everyone will complain. Make it too weak, and nobody will ever use it. It's rarely worth the effort. Also, I have several questions. Kheldians are (arguably) unique to the blue side, Widows and Arachnos soldiers to the red side. Why does it have to be Sumerian mythology? I am sure Sumerians also existed in Primal Earth once. Instead, how about those Devoured/Soldier hybrids? Even further, how if the Praetorian Well of Fury selects several hundred champions instead of one? Let's say if a group of interdimensional interlopers messed up one of them, there will be others to fight back (I'm looking at you, filthy Primals). Call this new ATO Last Light of Praetoria or something. I'd say these fit better than the Sumerians. Does it have to be magic-oriented? According to lore, magic is not the only origin of power. In my opinion (again), it is insulting that people gain the ultimate power only after drinking sentient magical juice. Edit Mesopotamian* Sorry, brain fart. -
Build #3 is pretty good, but there is still room for improvement. First, it limits itself to level 30 sets and above due to a misconception. It turns out Curtail Speed's bonus still applies after level 30. It also aims for unnecessary targets (recovery and accuracy), thus reduces its recharge bonus. Finally, 51% S/L resistance is too much. I revised my model, and this is the result (Build #4): Slot To Size Recharge SL Resist Kinetic Crash Single Shot 6 7.50 2.25 Kinetic Crash Charged Shot 6 7.50 2.25 Adjusted Targeting Aim 6 5.00 3.75 Executioner's Contract Penetrating Ray 5 0.00 3.75 Analyze Weakness Overcharge 6 0.00 4.50 Trap of the Hunter Time Wall 5 0.00 3.75 Crushing Impact Aging Touch 2 0.00 1.50 Basilisk's Gaze Time Stop 4 7.50 0.00 Adjusted Targeting Chronos 6 5.00 3.75 Obliteration End of Time 5 5.00 2.25 Preventive Medicine Temp Healing 6 8.75 2.25 Curtail Speed Time Shift 2 0.00 1.50 Titanium Coating Time Lord 4 0.00 3.00 Reactive Defenses Personal Force Field 6 8.75 1.50 Titanium Coating Temp Inv 4 0.00 3.00 Kinetic Crash Repulsion Bomb 6 7.50 2.25 Aegis Force of Nature 4 0.00 3.00 TOTAL 83 62.50 44.25 Comparison between Build #3 and Build #4 Stats Build #3 Build #4 Change Accuracy 49 47 -2 AoE Defense 1.5625 1.5625 0 Damage 10 10 0 Endurance Discount 0 7.5 7.5 Energy/Negative Energy Defense 0 2.5 2.5 Energy/Negative Energy Resistance 15 11.25 -3.75 Fire/Cold Defense 3.125 3.125 0 Fire/Cold Resistance 6 9 3 Health 7.875 8.625 0.75 Immobilization Duration 5 5 0 Knockback Protection 0 9 9 Movement Speed 7.5 21 13.5 Range 5 0 -5 Ranged Defense 0 1.25 1.25 Recharge Time 15 62.5 47.5 Recovery 10 4 -6 Regeneration 36 38 2 Smashing/Lethal Resistance 51 44.25 -6.75 Status Resistance 44.94 48.19 3.25 Stun Duration 2 0 -2 Toxic/Psionic Resistance 1.5 0 -1.5 Summary: Recharge goes up from 15% to 62.5%. Accuracy isn't severely affected (somehow). Resistance goes down from 51% to 44.25% but still hits 75% thanks to Tough and Temp Invulnerability. Next, I am planning to calculate bonuses for each power. Soon(tm).

Homecoming Launcher crashes after character selection
huang3721 replied to huang3721's topic in Homecoming Launcher
I believe my antivirus did not cause the crash since I played on the Beta server just fine while the AV was running in the background. It was not a connection problem (I guess) since the game client had successfully connected to the server (albeit briefly). I have sent the crash report. I hope it can help the dev team fix this problem. -
Strengthen your resolve. Praetorian contents are quite large, since there are 39 story arcs prior to Rift Enclosure. Each arc may take almost an hour, some are longer. Playing with friends, whenever possible, helps.

This dialogue never cease to amuse me: Followed by this: That dialogue up there was a big red flag. It clearly showed us that: Percy is an idiot. He doesn't mind being enslaved by (striking, seductive, cunning, and enchanting) Serene. Why? See number 1. But somehow I missed it on my first playthrough. Several missions later, Master Midnight's betrayal surprised me. It turned out I was dumber than him!

Help me with Stickin' it to The Man in Praetoria
huang3721 replied to GATE-keeper's topic in General Discussion
Yes. Most of the time, calling Calvin Scott gives you additional flavor text. Usually, he will let you kill or capture your target and give you the reasoning for the decision (for example, Cleopatra or Belladonna). Other times, he wants you to take down your targets instead of outright killing them. You still have to defeat them in the mission, though (eg. Sgt. Iminez). One time in Antimatter's arc, he will give you an optional objective. Completing this objective gives you another flavor text, but failure to complete said objective will not affect the story. -
Recently I downloaded Homecoming Launcher to play on the beta server. It ran smoothly. However, the launcher crashed when I tried to access Live. I am running Windows 10 64 bit (build 19042.1165). Everything is fine at first. A warning icon showed up right after I click the play button. The warning was similar to Jawbreaker's error a few months ago. Nevertheless, cityofheroes.exe still ran. The text said Local Account and Type Anything instead of Account Name and Account Password. LegalEULA text was empty. Server names were weird. My character is on Reunion, but the game said connecting to Triumph. Pressing the Next button in character selection menu crashes the game. EDIT - additional info So, I logged on as Andre, put him next to the pinball machine in Pocket D (pictured below), logged off, then logged on again using Homecoming launcher. Right after cityofheroes.exe crashed, I ran Tequila, then logged on as another character (Athanasia). It seems that the game client connected to the server right before it closed. From Athanasia's POV, Andre still showed up in the search window, but he didn't show up in Pocket D. She could send tells, but she couldn't target him.

A caveat (especially for that one level in Night Ward): Praetorian ambushes can be painful.

Is the lore bible available for everyone? If it is, does anyone know where to find it?
