Robert Kogan's Arc (Major Benjamin's writing quality)
Snarky replied to RunUpGetDoneUp's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
in another twenty years, if i have not been staked, i will look back with nostalgia on this topic. because the writing will not be topical. it will be cliche and the entire social convo will have moved on. it will look tired, old, and corny. hmmm, .... like a lot of CoH writing.... look, good writing is hard. Game of Thrones is a great example. yes, the author writes at a glacial pace, but... it is good. have a bunch of "pros" committee write a final season and sling it out the door. hmmm, ... results may be different. i have not dont the Khallisti Wharf arcs yet. still finishing my solo every contact stupidity. where i do not read hardly anything besides mission titles and mission goals. and that is what i will do in Khallisti. so, all the bad writing will be totally wasted on me. But this thread's whine? i could offer... -
additionally, if the find contact lists people in the range that are not open (with an indicator of course) this would be the gold standard. then you can choose to search out, or not, these stories.

As someone who is running a “do every contact” in game run I can tell you this would have been so helpful

I cannot believe you guys ard going in about this. It is bad story writing. It is CoH. There are around 400? CoH contacts. Name 20 that gave well written stories. I bet you cannot. They are either bland or way off kilter. Nor do I think this is a problem in CoH. I grew up with 4 color comics and sci fi novels. The conics were cool… but the stories? Pretty weak compared to real writing. -

could be a great story line there. are they a Crey deep op? -
I have (very rarely, and again I have led a lot if PUGs) seen people have an emergency and leave. I have never ever had someone announce they had no idea this was a TF/SF/Trial and needed to leave. To have someone say this happens to them regularly…. Maybe they just get people to join the team and never tell them what ir why? Or, much more likely, bullshit story to justify this strange pitch for a game change…
-
I have run a lot of PUG TF SF Trials. I have never had someone quit because they thought we were just running missions. To be clear, YES I am saying this is bullshit.
-
And this point was addressed in this thread already. Regarding badges, willingness to abandon TF, difficulty recruiting to fill for end. It is all a shit show with no good solution other than not doing this…

I have not tried to volunteer for Homecoming. Pretty sure they do not need me. However, I am sure that Homecoming would accept the services of a HIGH QUALITY Editor, Coder, or other technical service worker. And, meeting the criteria of quality and need, I am sure they would very consistently accept such volunteering. I believe you are just noticing a pattern of discernment and lack of needed skill sets. -

to be clear, in case it was overlooked because i got long winded. CoH writing has ALWAYS sucked. with small exception like The Radio contact or The Slot Machine (though Slots missions are pretty repetitive...what a shock) -
just fishing for answers that agree with you now that people have provided logical reasons for it being a horrid idea?

I have always (quite strangely) been very of the middle road ideologically. Maybe it was growing up watching Twilight Zone and reading tons of Sci Fi. I am okay with very conservative ideals. Up until they stand on my toes. I am okay with very liberal ideals. Up until they become radically extreme and hyper reflexive. Most of all I do not give a shit. Neither side will change, except to become ever more insular and insufferable. Neither will either side offer up anything that will work for society overall. In my opinion. The writers of the US Constitution knew a lot about how to create a safe space for a social experiment. And it did not involve catering to extremism. But it can and will falter if not cared for or cared about. As far as this contact goes…. “lazy writing in CoH, what have things come to!” *swoons and falls on sofa…. As far as this thread goes…. I do hope it goes. -
I always unlock my Alpha with a farm. Usually takes just a couple minutes. Then, I like a kill most ITF which slaps a ton of incarnate exp onto the boards. I suppose if i was industrious (and most everyone knows i am a lazy bloodsucker…) i would set up an AFK farm for my new 50 while i “looked for donors”, dusted the castle, or otherwise kept myself busy. But after the Alpha unlocks i really go through a happy period where i just enjoy running whatever on the new 50 and everything unlocks real fast.

I agree that badges should be restricted to those doing the entire TF. This change would encourage people it is okay NOT to do the entire TF, thus making it harder on Tram Leaders, and possibly keeping the badge from all teammates. “So long, get a replacement for me!” Hard NO

i have misfired vorpal judgement. and therefore deeply dislike the power... -
You are obviously lying. It cannot both be in the city charter and then later passed by the city council! Evil politicians and their flunkies will never stop Snarky and his supporters!

That is indeed a beautiful castle. Depending on square feet, materials, and land value I am guessing 75-200 mil in most markets. Thanks again for the donation! I am one step closer!

I did get the email! "Screw your memorial" seems a bit harsh! But the funds are greatly appreciated. A Very Special Thank You!

it’s a trick this Transylvania Count taught me. There is a revolving door between this world and the afterlife. If you know where to find it…
