  1. Well, yeah - the Devoured are the least "party animal" types of the DE: despite being taken for granite, the Boulders are stoned all the time, and there's lots of mushrooms and crystal all around, too!
  2. I thought I remembered an automated system, but that might have been just part of the report spammer system that I don't think is active on HC. The real point of the suggestion was that an offline generic doesn't really explain anything to the person (if it was "innocent"), while having a GM log on and say "that [name/costume/bio/combination] is a violation, check the code of conduct" could theoretically prevent future issues, or as mentioned, give you the chance to find the problem children if they get argumentative. Don't you love how "argue with someone until they end up with a ban" comes across much nicer as "a chance to find problem children?"
  3. There's been a lot of bickering back and forth when I don't think anyone is defending outright copying but instead wants an opportunity to respond to claims before being genericed. Now the email to the account has been shot down as being too time consuming and I can understand that - this isn't the GMs full-time jobs, they do it because they love the game and want to help out. But I would suggest an alternative: no offline generics (ie, it would require GM interaction) unless the character receives multiple reports in a 24 hour span. How many reports is "multiple" comes under scrutiny, but personally I'd go with reports from 3 different globals; this does a few things: it prevents one person from easily trolling borderline cases, since they'd have to swap and report on multiple accounts; otherwise it would mean that to get multiple people reporting it, then it is either blatant and easily-recognized or offensive enough that it disturbs more than one person's sensibilities (because one person can just /ignore them). Note that this would also still allow the GM to intervene themselves on a single report to verify the claim and preferably, interact with the player to explain why they can't make "Fe Male" (because it's Iron Man, har har), "Ruffalo Ragemonster" (which I've actually seen in Atlas Park, btw), any of these characters (most of which are already parodies), or the various innuendos and scatological references that I've seen in game. In the end, it's still a single person's call - the GM's - but if they're online then the person can get an explanation without the email, even if it's "Really? You really thought Clawverine was acceptable?"
  4. I wasn't being snippy. Some people honestly have no idea that those exist - in part because it's much easier to use Ouroboros - and the way it was presented was as if you were one of them. Adding the word "more" between "some" and "secret" in what I originally quoted would have pre-empted the question.
  5. +4 can't be the oldschool standard, because oldschool didn't allow +4 - the old max difficulty setting is the equivalent to +2/x1/Bosses/AVs. But to answer the question, a lot of it is just rushing through for either the badge or merits. Also, people that are leveling up rather than exemplaring down may not have enough slots to go higher than +2, especially on the lower-level TFs, and on top of that everyone doesn't run at 0 or -1; I was on three TFs yesterday (Manticore, ITF, Tin Mage) and the lowest difficulty was +1, which we shifted to +2 after the first mission. Ask about raising the difficulty if you're not happy with where it's at.
  6. Oh, come on, if you're going to start with re- you need to go all the way with re-donk-ulous. This was especially funny since Stalker EA has Hide instead of Energy Cloak. Hide suppresses its stealth when attacking and Energy Cloak doesn't, so Stalkers are less stealthy while fighting than Energy Aura (or Dark Armor) Brutes. Stalkers are much better equipped to deal with taking the aggro now than they used to be, and the Brute taunt auras will draw in mobs - now that Energy Aura has one - but for a while nobody wanted an EA Brute around because they couldn't hold aggro without Taunt or a full AoE attack chain. As for the OP... I guess if you compare every defense set to SR it'll look like it has poor defense debuff resistance, but it's actually on the high end of normal. As for endurance, it has an extra toggle to run but you get a refill (that boosts defense!) on a short timer and an endurance discount power (that also heals!) that can be made perma, so I'm thinking that the problem is likely your slotting.
  7. Ignoring the bits about aggro, since I'm not sure if you're talking about attempting to herd multiple groups (ie, above the aggro cap) or not, your experience with Master Illusionists and Ring Mistresses/Dark Ring Mistresses is nothing new. The "sapper endurance drain" on the Ring Mistresses has been there (and has been used) as far back as I can remember running into them, which is well before IOs made it far easier to deal with. Here's the power information: Note the -recovery for 30 seconds, which is really what's killing your endurance because you aren't gaining any back while still running toggles and attacking, and that it recharges before it wears off if you let them use it again to stack the debuff. Master Illusionists have been summoning Dark Servants forever. But beyond the highly-annoying phasing, they're easy to deal with if you have a way to mez bosses, if you have good defense, if you have endurance drain resistance, or if you have high burst damage. I haven't run any Tankers (because I haven't made one yet - I was waiting to see what powerset changes were coming in page 6) but my experience with aggro has been different than yours with my Brute(s) and Scrapper as well: I run in and hit them with a damage aura, and if I'm not over the aggro cap the mobs stick to me and follow me. If you aggro 10 things from one spawn and 10 in the next, then some of that first 10 are going to go elsewhere, though - that's the whole point of having a cap. Since the patches to get the taunt proc working on damage auras, my experience has been that things have generally been about the same as they were before it was changed to a proc and I can get mobs to come to me fairly easily when I want to, and tagging the occasional runner will usually get them back to me (as long as nothing else is taunting them).
  8. You know those already exist, right?
  9. The reason Titan Weapons goes through so much more endurance is because endurance cost and damage are directly proportional per the design formulas. All of the attacks hit hard, and under momentum, animate quickly. If you want to do that much damage that quickly, you pay for it. Titan Weapons already has endurance reduction and recharge reduction built into the powers. For example, Defensive Sweep has a 10' radius, 120 degree arc that does scale 0.7288 damage. A power that does that damage scale to that area should have a recharge of 5.2 seconds and endurance cost of 6.14. It has an endurance cost of 5.356 - lower than it should for that much damage, so it's already getting a discount. This continues with Crushing Blow (scale 1.804, 8.78 endurance, 8 second recharge), which should be scale 1.64 and 8.528 endurance for the 8 second recharge, or a 9.025 second recharge with 9.38 endurance cost. Now I have no actual knowledge of what's coming up, but my guess would be that the nerf that's likely to happen is that the endurance and recharge discounts are likely to go away, making it follow the formulas. That means that if they keep the recharge the same, the actual damage scales and endurance costs will look more like this (rounding to thousandths on damage scale and endurance cost): Name Scale Rech End Radius Arc Old Scale Old End Cost Defensive Sweep 0.617 4 5.2 10' 120° 0.729 5.356 Crushing Blow 1.64 8 8.528 1.804 8.784 Titan Sweep 1.210 10 10.192 10' 120° 1.429 10.498 Follow Through 1.96 10 10.192 2.427 10.498 Rend Armor 2.92 16 15.184 3.212 15.640 Whirling Smash 0.8 14 13.52 15' 1.369 13.926 Arc of Destruction 2.198 20 18.512 10' 120° 2.596 19.067
  10. Traps is better as a MM set where you can place the traps as you go while your pets are doing your damage for you. I've run a DP/Traps Corruptor to 50 and had no trouble keeping up with a team, but my damage output suffered because of the long animation times while placing traps. To address the original question, I'd say the only runaway for "better on a Corruptor" is Kinetics due to the higher base damage and higher damage cap. Time is close due to the ease of softcapping, but Cold (specifically Heat Loss) was stealth-nerfed for Corruptors post-shutdown after it wasn't buffed when porting it to Defenders: it used to be -30% for Sleet and Heat Loss on Corruptors, now it's -30% and -24%. And if you're just taking Cold for Sleet and some defense, Dominators get it at the same level, get the same -resistance, and have plenty of controls to help their survival.
  11. The quote assumes that you know what is best for others. I would disagree with that assumption. As mentioned, the idea was that even that chance would only be available 30% of the time. Also, if we're looking at IO builds, that chance goes from 0% (there are powers that don't critical) to 75% for short bursts. Look at the ATOs, an IO bonus does give them a massive increase to their crit chance.
  12. It's also the exact same as a Stalker (and, for that matter, every non-epic AT that isn't a Tanker or Brute), whom they were directly compared to and have the same hit points as. I have no idea why you were bringing Scrappers into the mix other than to confuse the issue with an AT that gets more hit points. I do agree that they do more damage than most (ie, non-proc'd) Defenders, though. But that's a fairly low bar to clear, and the person was likely looking at the pylon results (as mentioned earlier) to get their results.
  13. The significant part is at the bottom: Page 5 was the last major patch released. Soon™. Personally, I'd be happy with just undoing the nerfs (old ET animation, Total Focus back to mag 4 stun) and think that all the extra mechanics are unnecessary and undesired. If you want Energy Melee with gimmicks to provide more AoE, play Rad Melee.
  14. Given that the patch notes explicitly call out Spine Burst as being adjusted to a 16 target cap, I think it's safe to call it a bug.
  15. Here's a relevant post: The significant part is at the bottom: Make of that what you will, but Page 5 was the last major patch released, so "significant adjustments" are coming Soon™.
  16. There is also a P2W vendor in each tutorial and in Grandville.
  17. While I can't really help with this specific issue, a lot of the times an antivirus program flags a false positive and quarantines a file - this might be the cause of your download error. In the FAQ there is this link to a guide you might have already used to get set up. If nothing in there helps, you can try making a thread in the Help & Support section, those will usually get a quick response - and searching through it, someone may have had the same problem you're having so you can look to see that the response is. Here is a guide and FAQ for Tequila.
  18. 1. As answered, "it depends." Download speeds are usually somewhat of a crapshoot to predict because you never know who has what provider. 2. Usually, weekends would be busier than during the week, but with the COVID lockdown it's "weekend" all the time at the moment. 3. Population. Excelsior is higher population, Indomitable is the unofficial PvP server, and Torchbearer was the first one up. 4. Yes. They're usually organized in the server-specific or AT-specific forum areas, and there are a few threads around. 5. Much differently is subjective, and as mentioned depends on when you stopped. The guides section has a lot of resources for new and returning players. This one will help you figure out what changes have happened since you last stopped playing: 6. As noted, they take donations and announce finances each month, but do not require a donation to play.
  19. Out of curiosity, what was the team makeup? I ran it on a badge run a couple of days ago with 4 Brutes, and there was no running at all, so I'm wondering if you had a team that had no taunt effects to keep them from running.
  20. Nerf argyle/argyle caps!
  21. It was updated only rarely, has very vague explanations that are almost as harmful as helpful, and the most help you could give to someone was to tell them that it's way out of date and to not use it. This isn't a failure on Homecoming, but Paragon Studios, who decided to not remove it entirely when they stopped updating it. Some notes about the in-game help: Going into it as a newbie it's not resizable, so you can't read the whole thing at once and have to scroll on either side Yes, there are ways to resize windows in the game that aren't resizable... this is as a newbie who has to look at the help option, who won't know those exist They also aren't mentioned in the help There's no way to search for something without just hunting through the tree I thought it used to at least have a list of slash commands, but it either never did or it was removed It DOES mention merit vendors, under Merit Rewards/Spending Merits (a positive comment!) There are more sections on something simple and fairly intuitive like Navigation than there are on the entire Invention system There are as many major sections - which break down into more detail - for the Mission Architect than there are total sections for the Invention system The Invention/Salvage section has nothing about special salvage, where to get it, how to use it, or anything No mention of attuning, boosting, or why you would want to do either No mention of unslotting (but mention for "A warning reminds players that equipping is permanent." under Rewards/Equipping Enhancements) The section on enhancement sets mentions nothing about when set bonuses would not be in effect, such as going over the "rule of 5" or exemplaring 3 levels below the set's minimum level In fact, the Social section mentions Lackeys - which don't exist anymore because of Super Sidekicking - but doesn't mention exemplar/malefactoring Under Invention System/Enhancement Sets, it says "Keep in mind that these bonuses apply to your character at all times; and apply to all of your powers not just the one you have it slotted in. You do not need to have the power active in order to get the bonus." This is flat-out incorrect given the examplaring rules. Even the section on Rewards/Enhancements, which talks about enhancement levels, does not bring this up when it talks about Invented Enhancements at the bottom. It doesn't look like the PvP section has been updated since PvP was first introduced The Ouroboros section (while looking for something on exemplaring) says that the minimum level to enter is 25, instead of 14 There's nothing on changing alignment, at all Did you know that power pools open at 6, and you can't take the 3rd power in any of them until 14? That's what the help tells you, because it was never updated when this was changed
  22. While we're at it could we just increase the Brute damage modifier to account for running +200% damage all the time because of Fury? I mean, what could go wrong with giving them a 2.25 melee and ranged modifier? (if you took this suggestion seriously, congratulations... you are the problem)
  23. It should be updated to Back Alley Brawler, since a lot of people don't even know he's there.
  24. Fortunata Hamilton (level 10-14) has the mission you're talking about. Of course, a lot of villains got it from Television before VEATs were ever a thing, and despite being a level 45-50 contact the agricultural nature of all of the missions in that arc led to a lot of low level characters being on them. Television also has a lot of fun - but dated - call outs in the mission text.
