  1. So I'm building from a name this time around. I've been chucking around ideas all morning, but can't settle on either primary or secondary. So I'm asking the Tanker community: What set(s) and/or combination(s) epitomize the Last Man Standing, to you?
  2. Non-answer: all of them! Of the ones I play most*: Elec/Staff is stylish, and is my go-to for exemping down for the lower level TFs because she basically can't be end drained. Fire/Ice is just plain fun. I missed out on the unbounded aggro/burn cap heyday, but even now Frost>Burn>Frozen Aura does a number on things. And Ice Patch is Ice Patch. Rad/Fire feels immortal and does solid damage. And he's a cow. Ice/Spines is an aggro magnet when I really want to have it all. And he's a frog. Bio/Stone has wicked crowd control with all the knockdowns, and the screen-shaking hits are satisfying. Honestly feels like what Super Strength should (ooh controversial!). Shield/Savage for the teleporting goodness (when he gets there, so close!), and the spiked shield option adds to the visceral visuals of Savage. *got a few others in the wings, but they're either too low or don't get enough use to really have made a strong impression.
  3. I've randomly been on a couple teams with you, Snarky, and didn't have - or see others having - any issues. But like you I don't tend to build connections to PUGs, so as long as everyone's doing their thing and nobody's getting pissy about it, I leave well enough alone. I've got alts everywhere. Only one on Excelsior, a comedy option WP/Mace tanker, but I'll keep my eyes open for ya.
  4. So I'm about to start talking outta my butt... Per here: The battle axe struck with force could apply significant injury to a knight in armor The weapon was primarily used as a cutting weapon and capable of cutting off the limbs of an enemy in one stroke Type or group of weapons - Bludgeoning and Cutting Weapon It could be hurled as a missile With the caveat that I am not a scholar of medieval weapons or battle axe, I'm gonna suggest a couple things to speak to those points: 1. Add a smashing damage component or flag a portion of BA's damage as ignoring lethal damage resistance (similar to @DrRocket's suggestion above) or the boring "special vs robots". 2. Add a bleed to a couple powers somewhere, either replacing or in addition to their knock effect. 3. Replace an attack (I couldn't even begin to say which) with a short ranged thrown weapon attack. The most complicated obviously due to needing a truckload of thrown weapon fx. Too crazy?
  5. Thanks Vile! Re: visor, I generally try to stick with 2-3 colours (+ black/white as feels appropriate), so I hadn't considered a tertiary accent for this one. Hmmmm, something to think about for the rest of my dorks... I just tried it out with a paler pink and it looks decent. Secondary colour should prolly be white instead of blue, but I can't figure out how to delete the screenshot attachment.
  6. I'll throw in a stab at it. Started with the Sport set and tweaked stuff from there. elec.costume
  7. I greatly enjoy my Fire/Ice/Mu. Can confirm Burn+Ice Patch is all the goodness.
  8. Rolled one up tonight because of this!
  9. Make an orange rock dude with sonic powers. Call him Thing Thong.
  10. I don't have finalized ideas yet for these guys, but just a couple days ago on everlasting I snagged roflstomp and faceroll. Also last night on Excelsior I built a Will/Mace tanker named Gloryhammer, inspired by this pure self-aware ridiculousness. I'll edit with a pic tonight cause I'm pleased with how (relatively) close I was able to get the look. Edit: pic.

    Elec/Dark/???

You guys were supposed to narrow down my choices, not give me more! 🙂 Srsly tho, thanks @Coyote, @oedipus_tex and @s3ri0us for your suggestions. I'll plug some stuff into the build at home and see what I like the look of. All else, there are multiple build slots and respecs!
  12. Lost on an epic for this gal. I just dinged 35 and realizing I don't really know what to do with her. My first thought is Earth Mastery (Rock Armour offers the highest defense value, Fissure is more control, and apparently Seismic Smash procs out beautifully), but I'm also liking the idea of Soul Mastery for Dark Consumption & Soul Drain, or Psi for World of Confusion (since I'm wanting to be up in melee anyway). Any thoughts on that dilemma, or the build in general? I've found slots are really hard to come by with this pairing. Thanks in advance! 13. Yeah that's the trade-off, isn't it? But my scrapper has been on hold in the 30s since forever, and I've been on a serious tanker run (3 50s, and another half dozen in progress), so that preference might be the deciding factor.
  14. I built this combo as a scrapper a long time back, and for mostly the same reasons. I might have to look at turning it into a tanker when I get my current projects finished...
  15. Piling on Synapse, and adding a slightly different piece to the "why". In addition to the issues of TF length and uninspired kill-alls, I'd add the absurd end drain that comes from 100% clockwork 100% of the time, at levels when few ATs have ways to combat it. I'd love to see this TF get spiced up by adding some other villain groups to the mix: Lost (psychic interference) seems the most natural for me, but I expect better writers than I could make a case for other level-appropriate groups like the Outcasts and Tsoo to have a stake in the game. Heck make it a tour of the low level villain groups and make room for Hellions and Skulls too. Just *something* to break up the monotony and give some respite from mission after mission of "any blues?".
  16. Thank you for your feedback, @Kyksie! And I greatly enjoyed your atmospheric introduction to the review.
  17. I picked up a few awesome (to me) names on Everlasting in the last couple weeks, which I'm surprised hadn't been taken: Lagrange (Grav/Traps controller) Ceramic (Bio/Stone tanker) Spinsect (Bio/Claws tanker) Just a matter of being lucky, especially with the one-word-real-word names! And trying all the servers - more than once I've found a name I like on a different server, so I build and play there, and every now and then check to see if it's available on Everlasting so I can transfer. No luck so far, but I keep hoping!
  18. Also WP brute/scrap waiting til 28 for their SLENFC defense. And Stone brute waiting til 28 for EN def.
  19. Yeah, that also happens! In my experiences the leapfrogging wasn't something that we did right from go - the rhythm developed as we went along and get a sense of our capabilities. And even then things would hiccup. There's a significant difference based on levels, slots and powersets too. I took a 30-something Bio/Claw through one of the Posi's a little while ago, with two other lower-level tanks on the team as well. With generic 35 IOs she was significantly more survivable than the others, which when I realized it, led me to slow down and dive into each spawn to take the heat off the lowbies before moving forward. Working on that awareness is an ongoing development for me.
  20. I've run on a few 2- and 3-tank teams in the last little while, and we've always ended up playing tanker leapfrog. Whichever tank jumps into the first spawn keeps them busy for the team, and the rest go on to the next (and the next) and start softening them up and/or dragging them back. Maybe I was just lucky to get that kind of coordination. Definitely made everyone feel useful!
  21. I like the look of this version. Personally I still want Water Burst earlier, but assuming you're already leveled up it's fine where it - you don't lose it for anything but the lowest of the low Ouro flashbacking (maybe not even then, can't remember if Ouro goes all the way down to the 1-5s or not, aside from the Outbreak mission). (also gonna have to check on my own build re: Spiritual, as I didn't realize it could potentially impact procs!)
  22. I've been all over tanks this time around (coming from a scrapper main on live), and I'm definitely rolling more alts than I used to just because of how easy it is to level and fund them. The recent update hasn't had much of an impact in that regard. This is my latest project. Just hit 23 last night, running on L15/20 IOs, and it's great fun and decently survivable. Stone Melee has such a satisfying feel to it, even if it is way more single-target-focused than I usually prefer. I'm on all three ST attacks and I find Bio, especially in Efficient mode, powers up enough that I'm not usually concerned about end, even when I mix in the P2W filler attacks. SM was one of those sets that I barely dabbled in back on live, so I'm looking forward to the later game experience. Especially the change to Tremor's pick order: 28 can't come soon enough, but it's way better than 35! I just wish Mid's would update so I don't have a big hole in my build where Tremor's supposed to go 🙂
  23. Looks solid to me. The only thing - as you mentioned - is the skipping of Water Burst. The reliable knock-up and AOE goodness are much too strong to pass up in my estimation. Not entirely sure what you would drop or where you'd poach slots from tho. My own build doesn't get into the Leadership pool at all, so that's my first thought, but I could be wrong there. Maybe Assault, as you don't need it as a prereq for anything. You definitely want it early in the build tho. I took it at 2, pushing back some other stuff that isn't as needed in the very low levels due to how fast those go by.
  24. I'll second /Claws, and also give a nod to /Stone. I'm leveling both right now and they are good times!
