Camel's Fire/Energy Tank. A guide you don't need.

Cardiac? Boo! Musculature FTW!

...seriously though, I'm running Focused Accuracy with no end red, and Assault, and living off Consume. Very occasionally I pop a Recovery Serum if either fumbling Consume or met with end drain. This lets me go Musculature 45%. Claws isn't EM though.

I've seriously been considering swapping out my T4 Cardiac for the T4 Musculature. My end bar refuses to move unless I get drained. I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but my Melee Core Hybrid is also a bit overkill, so I've thought about going Assault Hybrid as well. I tank for teams, so there is almost always some buffs, whether a literal buff like Fortitude, or a static buff like 8 stacked Maneuvers. I'm convinced that my build + Barrier is more than enough to handle every scenario in the game since I don't solo on this toon.

edit: I'm going to do a server transfer one of these days if you'd like to team up. I'm positive we could duo almost any TF, or we could build a super team and literally carry them to victory. I routinely make Blasters jealous when they see a Tank doing over 2k damage, it's hilariously fun to show off sometimes.

Well, I'm in the pacific northwest waiting to get called for forest fires, IE, I have SO much free time. Other than that, I have no dedicated schedule. I'm actually playing right now and can initiate the transfer. I'll PM your global when I do.

Definitely not! That's a beautiful build! Been thinking of making a Fire/Staff Tank as well.

  • 5 weeks later

About a month back I had just finished rebuilding my Invuln/SS tank from live. With the help of @Hyperstrike I had updated my build and was in Peregrine Island soloing my way through MJ's arc, working on my portal jockey badge. I stepped out of a mission door into the streets and was greeted by the site of almost a dozen monsters tussling it up in the middle of the city. I was ever so slightly confused  but quickly noticed a small blazing figure in the center of them, slowly pulling them toward Portal Corps. My memory is a bit foggy, but I think I PMed the crazy burning thingy in the center of the fight and asked it... WTF are you doing? He was kind enough to explain that he had taken the past fifteen minutes to pull this group all the way from the islands.

My mind was flooded with several ideas in quick succession. 1). That's a fire tank tanking almost a dozen monsters and his HP is barely dropping. 2). That's a dumb name for a tank. 3). His HP is seriously not dropping. 4). I'll be damned if a fire tank is going to tank all these monsters past me without me getting a peace of this action. 5). Ok his HP bar dropped a little bit... but only a little. 6). LEROY JENKINS!!!!!!

I didn't have my accolades yet or my incarnate abilities. But I had been saving up my farm inf for weeks and I was IO'd out. Plus, I was an Invulnerable tank... >.> So I jumped into the madness. Seeing where he was going I joined in a taunt and AoE heavy attack chain and followed the guy, whose name would fit better on a scrapper, as he lead the way to Portal Corps. I happened to be on Discord with a buddy of mine and told him, "you have got to come see this." It didn't take long for a crowd to form and a league of heroes to down the monsters. I had planned on finishing the MJ arc that morning, but after that encounter I just logged off for the day. There was nothing in the game that would hold my interest after being a part of that.

Moments like that make the game. Cheers!

That was me! I remember that pretty clearly. I was solo pulling 12ish Monsters and noticed a fledgling Invuln Tank joining in on the action as we marched up the streets towards Portal Corp. The name of the Tank I made this guide about is named Retro DPS, a total Scrapper name if ever there was one. This particular pull was special to me because of that, people kept sending me tells like I was crazy, then we all formed a league in a matter of what felt like seconds once we got them to the Portal Corp courtyard.

What a blast. Cheers!🍻

I like build alot so far, but I had a thought.  If you were to swap out one utility IO, like the 20% slow resist for example, wouldnt subbing in kismet's +acc be be worthwhile? Or do you feel the slow resist is more worth while?

Fiery armor is direclty tied to his recharge : for damage (Embrace and burn), but for survival : the only source of HP being the heal : no more recharge, means no more heal = faceplant 😉

The only reason to use the Kismet is if the attacks don't have enough accuracy to hit +3 enemies. A quick glance shows that only Bone Smasher is at 87% to hit an enemy and everything else is over the 95% cap.

Okay I can see the train of thought regarding recharge speed +res as it can be a hard stat to come by. I think most of the issue I'm having regarding accuracy will most likely be solved once I hit my incarnate level shift.

Is cardiac still  considered to be necessary? Or would musculature be an option since this is a more dps oriented build power set build?

Getting both at some point wouldn't be a bad idea. Cardiac is more self-contained. I never have to worry about endurance. But Musculature would be great in its own right, potentially making some 3 hit KOs a 2 hit KO.

edit: I would take Cardiac first, especially if you do not have all the accolades. The extra toughness isn't anything to scoff at, and it will shore up almost all of your endurance woes, full IO build or not. Once you get the build mostly slotted or get the accolades, then I would consider using Musculature and then having the option to switch depending on your needs.

Consume - If you can find the slots to give this power love, do it. Consume really helps with endurance while leveling and even in some instances where you get drained.

If one is not 6-slotting Consume, is one even playing Fiery Aura? In addition to powering your entire dang organization for you, Consume, used proactively, makes you immune to Sappers and other end drainers. If this does not deserve 6 slots, nothing does. In addition, Preemptive Optimization has some nice set bonuses (bonii?). Actually, all 3 of the new EndMod sets do, depending on what you are looking for.

Had a bunch of transcendents sitting on my 2nd acct, so turned my old villain main back to his original powersets but as a tank this time. FA/EM, fully T4ed, musc, degen, assault core. Has better pylon times than my claws/sr brute and damn near hits my claws/sr scrapper's times.

Where Aeon in the MLTF slaughters my claws/sr scrapper every time, this fa/em tank slapped Aeon down without breaking a sweat. Max diff ITF? No issues at all.

Tanks are so OP. 🙂

Out of curiosity what is your Fa EM pylon time?

Hi Camel,
I accidentally made a EM/Rad brute a few days ago and it's at level 27. Will I forever live in regret or is there still time to delete, rebuild, and find redemption and cRuNcH  ?

Surprisingly,

Ninja Surprise

I would re-roll into a Tank, definitely. Energy Melee feels less clunky since your base damage is higher right off the bat as a Tank. You can aggro and damage more targets, you're tougher, etc.
