Apologies if this has already been answered.

I'm rolling up a toon to run the Praetorian content (never done the Gold side).  I downloaded Ultra Infinitum from @Infinitum's OP.  UI is a Shield Defense / Electric Melee Tank.

Somehow (and please don't ask how I did this), while going through the Character Creator, I clicked 'Brute' instead of 'Tank'.

According to MIDs, Tankers have Excellent Defenses and Good Melee while Brutes have Excellent Melee, Good Defenses and Rage.

The questions are:

  1.  Since UI's build took the first power in each Power Set, can I still just follow the Tanker build for my Brute?
  2.  Or is the build compromised in some way?
  3.  And if the build is compromised, @Infinitum, would you happen to have a build for an Electric Melee / Shield Defense Brute?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.  👍

Go ahead and build it. It will have better attacks and less defense that's all. Or reroll a new one if u want it to be tougher.

If u want to know the exact difference. Open the build you chose in mids. Then open a new copy and make the same as a brute. Then compare the totals to see the stats. I made a scrapper out of one of his shield def tanks and it kicks ass.

Since a pet is used in both sets, those pets aren't impacted by Fury. It me that's the biggest con for the pairing on a Brute.

I went through this entire thread, didnt see Ice Armor mentioned- is this set more for Resistance? When building survivability are we trying to SoftCap certain Res or Def? I would like to see a Ice Armor/ Energy Melee build  if anyone has one! Always enjoyed the ice theme but all I see are Fire/Rad builds on the servers lately!

Thank you!

Ice is actually a defense set, with great inherent cold resists.  We have been having a productive conversation in this thread, in the last day or so:

Any thoughts or critiques on this build?

Why don't the Street Justice builds use combo builders?

Mine for sure does.  When I respec'd to be tankier I had to drop an attack and make use out of the t1 attack.  Turns out moving this fast animating/recharging decent dpa attack into my rotation along with Rib Cracker my combo counts have gone up quite well.  Then I still have Combat Readiness for an instant combo.

Same, but I dropped Shin Breaker, since the Kick animation is the same...  He's pretty tanky, himself:

Yup that's the same attack I dropped.  It was sad to do since its a pretty mean looking animation but I had to narrow it down.  It was either Shin Breaker which I can slot the Achilles proc into but won't fire often due to the fast recharge of the power or Rib Cracker with the consistent -10% resist and -10% dmg.

So slap a FF chance for +recharge in Kick...and have the same (lack of) chance to proc some recharge 😆

Hello all.

I wanted to apologize if it seemed like I was ignoring anyone on here.  I had some unfortunate real life issues come up this last year - changing jobs, deaths in the family, sicknesses in my household from October until honestly February - and some days I felt like I could barely keep my head above water, but I am a tanker and made it through it all like all tankers do - annoying the piss out of anything trying to kill you - because you... do... not... die... as a tanker  lol.  I am back now and all is well so far - so again deepest heart of heart apologies if I ignored any requests on here - it was not intentional.

Having said that, any future requests I will be more than happy to help - and as I get more time to do this again will update the primary post with a few new builds and changes I have been working on - I missed out on roughly a year of game so I am catching up myself now.

Take care everyone, and keep on keepin' on!

Inf, you legend. Sorry for all the real life aggro, but I’m sure you handled it like the true Tanker you are. So happy to see you back!

Hope you enjoy these, and hope they help, if you have any questions feel free to ask.  @Infinitum - Excelsior Server

Infinitum - Tanker (Invulnerability - Super Strength).mxd ---- My first ever 50 Live and Homecoming.  Really solid

so, i really like this build, but wonder if there's a way to work in a taunt, what could be changed please? find aggro control more my thing than doing damage. so was thinking swap out rage for taunt?

No, i don't think you would want to lose rage.  Its too good even with the trouble it causes sometimes.

When i get home from work I will have a look and help taunt find a home for you.

I'm interested to see a take on a Rad/Staff tanker. I tried to use the traditional method of taking Rad/- and -/Staff builds to shuffle together, but I'm two slots shy. I can't have all the pool powers in the @Infinitum tanker builds after taking all the primary and secondary ones, and I'm too much of a noob to decide what to dump.

What I would probably do - is swap taunt in the place of either Conserve Power or Focused Accuracy.  Given the issue with Rage crash and potential endurance issues I would probably keep conserve power of the two.  Does that logic seem correct?

Could you post your build? - I am pretty good with Rad (I know there are others better than me at Rad though) - but I have never tried Staff actually so I am sure between me and other critiques of it we can come up with something for you.
