 PvP Updates

Miscellaneous PvP Changes

  • Kicking a player from team during an Arena match now requires confirmation
  • Quitting an Arena team (via the quit button, /leaveteam or the Exit Map button) now requires confirmation
  • Fixed UI scaling for the "Score" button, and made it toggle the results window
  • Disabled the Quit button in Classic UI while on an Arena map
  • The arena map list is now sorted alphabetically
  • Fixed the minimap for Cage Match, Factory, Stadium, Atlas Park, Steel Canyon and Skyway City

New PvP Accolades

  • Arena vendors now sell the following PvP-only fakkolades (fake knockoff accolades) for 10,000 influence each:

PvP Zone Vendors (Bloody Bay, Siren's Call, Warburg, Recluse's Victory)

  • Added vendors selling the Arena temporary powers (which are now usable in PvP zones)
    • The Siren's Call vendor still requires the zone event to unlock

PvP Zone Missions (Bloody Bay, Siren's Call)

  • Missions in Bloody Bay and Siren's Call are no longer limited to level 25 / 35 and can now be run all the way to level 50
    • Completing any door mission rewards the Veteran power
    • Completing any Longbow door mission rewards the Justice power
    • Completing any Arachnos door mission rewards the Rampage power
    • Completing the destroy / save outpost mission rewards the Indestructible power
    • Completing the plant / defuse bomb mission rewards the Supercharger power
    • Completing the kidnap / rescue officer mission rewards the Mind Games power
    • Completing the destroy / recover technology mission rewards the Nullifier power

Recluse's Victory

  • Support AVs from the zone event now spawn at level 52 instead of level 54
  • Remove some references to Statesman (RIP)

Free Fire Zone (PvP) Helicopter Line

  • All helicopters to and from PvP zones are now connected (including new helicopters in Siren's Call near the hero hospital and in Peregrine Island near the arena)
  • You can also use it to travel between the connected PVE zones, but only those that match your current alignment
    • Rogues and Vigilantes can now use the Free Fire Zone Transports to travel between PVE zones, but not from a PVP zone to a PVE zone of the opposite alignment

New Arena Map: Liberty Town (2-32 players)

  • A new arena map using an area from Founder's Falls

Powers Disabled in PvP

  • All Incarnate powers apart from the Alpha slot are now disabled in Recluse's Victory
  • PvP zones now obey the same rules as the arena when it comes to banning powers
    • This means that anything previously disabled in the Arena will now be disabled in PvP zones
    • Arena temporary powers now work in PvP zones
    • PVP Zones now disable powers using an auto power granted on zone entry instead of a critter with a zonewide power (this makes it instant)
  • The following powers are now disabled in the Arena and in PvP zones:
    • Most Mayhem / Safeguard powers
    • Empowerment Station buffs crafted in bases
    • Most Day Job powers

  • An entrance to Recluse's Victory has been added to the Pocket D arena
    • DJ Zero doesn't approve of fighting, so if you use this exit, there's no way back to the club from Recluse's Victory - you're on your own

Bring all PvP zones to level 50, leave only one pvp zone open per week in rotation, as a justification at the level of lore there could be several attacks by Lord Recluse each time different place.

To preserve pve and badging you could create another instance of the zones always open and without any pvp interaction.

I mean, you guys did those hunts without incarnates. Those NPCs were never buffed after incarnates were released. It's not like Incarnates are being turned off in BAFs and Lambdas.

I'd have to agree with this. The content is pre-incarnate, it's doable without incarnates. If they're tough to solo (they're AVs, after all,) the answer is the same as it's always been - get a team.

 

One thing I am noting (and expected, but went in to verify) -

Base buff powers are, as mentioned, turned off in PVP zones. However, the timers on them are not. Since they are (1) created with salvage and (2) timer limited, is there a way to pause the timer on these when they're disabled? (This should also come into effect any time they're disabled, honestly, not just in PVP zones.)

 

Essentially they'd be treated like toggles (even though they're auto powers, yes.) When you buy a jetpack for 30 minutes, it doesn't just click down 30 minutes and go away - it's 30 minutes of use. Granted these don't use rare (or even uncommon, going from memory) salvage, but there's still that cost to them.

Disagree with this one. Every PvP zone literally gives temporary powers, it's part of the appeal and none of them actually ruin the experience; only incarnates did that. I'm supposed to go and get Warburg nukes and then not even be able to use them in zone? That's pretty absurd. I am also not asking for only the PvP earned temporary powers to be re-enabled, I am asking that all of them be. Amplifiers are already rightfully disabled, it's already known to be essentially a disqualifier if used in a duel; if I want a fight with no temps, I just do an arena fight. No need to take away that fun from zone at all.

 

Other than that these are fantastic changes.

Love these ideas, excited to test them!!! I also love how the HC has reached out to the PvP community to assuage their opinions and feedback - pro level 💛

Well he's saying that without incarnates (and possibly temps) it'll be much harder to do those specific badges. 

 

In reality, these changes just make it impossible to solo or trio kill all the AVs, so it does become necessary to get a large group for it now like in the past for the ordinary player. I don't have much opinion on that, but you can review that how you will.

 

Just for the sake of leveled understanding, it IS true that in the past people killed the AVs (in groups) but then they had access to temporary powers as well (a good for them is vs NPCs.)

 

So I don't think the removal of either temps or incarnates makes it too difficult to take care of the AVs, but I see what he is saying. Especially if he isn't fully IO'd. 

 

Also re-enable temps.

Ah thanks @Monos King. I appreciate the answer. There were points where two players (myself included) were able to take down two AVs, but that was with temps and Incarnates and tier 3/4 insp. I'm actually excited for the challenge of these AVs without all the extra help. I see what @ROBOKiTTYwas saying now. Thanks!

I think Is Just you, noone care about pvping at lvl 15 or 35, infact low lvl PvP zones are Always empty.

Every pvper farm his Toon to lvl 50 + alpha than go to PvP zone and hate to be unexempled.

I want to note that these changes will make it a lot less likely that people like me will show up to your badge hunt in RV and three-shot your PVE build with a corruptor. Incarnates are that stupid.

If you have accolades already will you still be able to use them in zone and you just wouldn't be able to buy the ones from vender? Seems a bit weird I spent ages accolading 200 toons to not be able to use the ones I earned(would be a bummer to me.) Everything else looks great though! <3

The new ones are exactly the same, so you just go pick up those from the Arena Vendor. I don't think they can disable the others based on if you have the real accolades. They could possibly make the clicks share a recharge, but I don't know about dealing with the Auto's.
